Troubleshooting IIS7 Active Directory Group Members W/ Error Log Text File?

Background: I have an application that loads marketing companies into a drop down list if the currently logged in user is a member of that marketing group in active directory. The Group ACOMP_USER_BIG is compared to MarketingCompanyShortName Big in the database records via a web service. Problem: I have 3 Newly added AD Groups that won't load in production but load fine in the drop down on my local dev server. The deployment guy already tried doing an IISReset and that didnt fix the issue. All the AD groups have read access only and no write access. We need to find out more information on why the marketing company AD groups are not loading. How do I get the groups to load correctly or prove that the problem is not a programming issue and a deployment or AD issue? H*ere's the VB.NET Code behind that populates the marketing company drop down list.

Every time I start a new session of Internet Explorer, the web application prompts me for my Active Directory Username and Password instead of automatically retrieving that information from the currently logged in Active Directory profile.
How do I setup Single Sign On in the web config or default.aspx.vb file code-behind so that it doesn't prompt me for my active directory credentials? [code]....

If the Group Name exists for the Current User, I want that group name to be displayed in a drop down list. Example: If current user is in BIG Group, display BIG in drop down list.Problem: All I am getting is SIDs and I'm not able to get anything to match up to the group name and nothing will show up in the drop down list.I also get the following Error:Error: Object variable or WIth block variable not set.How do I fix this?? here is the code I am using:

I'm using the following code, which works, to login a user to an application built in VB.NET against active directory. This code works great but I need to retreive the user's first name, last name, display name and also check if the user is part of a group.
I've tried many forms of adResults.Property("displayname").ToString() and the like but just can't get it to work right.Anyone have any ideas how to do what I'm looking to do?Public Function ValidateActiveDirectoryLogin(ByVal sDomain As String, ByVal sUserName As String, ByVal sPassword As String) As Boolean

I have a webForm app that registers a user in the database based on the information provided with a web service, auto-generates a random password and username, and e-mails the user a link to take an application based on the marketing company selected. How do I get only the currently logged in user's groups to show up under the MarketingCo_DropDownList. Each user allowed access to the system will have membership in at least one of the marketing groups as defined by the web.config. For example, a user that is currently logged in and belongs to the BIG group under location "algACOMP_user_BIG", will only be able to see BIG in the Marketing Company drop down list. A user that is currently logged in and belongs to the NIS group located under "algACOMP_user_NIS" will only be able to see NIS in the Marketing Company drop down list.
Here's my best guess (located under Private Sub GetMarketingCompanies() method in default.aspx.vb):
If InStr(WindowsIdentity.GetCurrent().Groups = "AMG", item.MarketingCompanyShort = "AMG", CompareMethod.Text) Then
marketingCo.Items.Add(String.Format("{0} | {1}", item.MarketingCompanyShort, item.MarketingCompanyName))
For Each item In ac1

I have a function that works perfectly when I attempt to add a user from the same domain into a group of the same domain.
Function AddUserToGroup(ByVal strUserDN As String, ByVal strGroupDN As String, ByVal strGRPDC As String, ByVal strUserDC As String) As Boolean
Dim oUser As DirectoryEntry
[Code]....
The error is actually being thrown on the Invoke line, but as I said earlier, if the user is in the same domain, this works perfectly.

With this code I can see what happening I'm just showing you what've I've done so far. Basically I want to use an If statement to see if an active directory object contains one of the keywords found in an INI file. I was wondering is this possible with just an IF statement or do I have to use a loop or a for each and how would I do that using one of those two

Using WMI is it possible to associate a custom group with a builtin group of which it is a member. For example: I've created a group called "recovery admins", and added this group as a member of domain admins. When I enumerate the members of domain admins using WMI the "recovery admins" group is not identified If I use the WMI CIM studio to browse the WMI tree or run queries the "recovery admins" group does not appear to be in any way associated with the domain admins group.

Is it possible (I'm sure it is) to validate a user's credentials against Active Directory without using Directory Services?I'm building a Browser-Based WPF application which requires users to login to and get validated via Active Directory. Since .Net 4.0 (or maybe 3.5) accessing Directory Services from an Application requires the application to be fully trusted. Since IE won't provide full trust to an application if it doesn't have the signing certificate in it's cert store, the application is refused startup permission.
If I don't use Directory Services, then I can leave the application as Partial Trust and validate my user's credentials without having to install a certificate on each user's machine.

I have written a generic file serving handler in asp.net/vb.net..I recently moved to a windows 7 box and am now debugging under IIS7, and this is where the problems occure.Whenever I serve a file to either FireFox or Chrome (IE8 works fine) from IIS 7, the download will fail.
- In FireFox the error is "[some file name and path].part could not be saved, because the source file could not be read."
- In Chrome the error is "Error 330 (net::ERR_CONTENT_DECODING_FAILED): Unknown error."
- In IE8 it works fine
If I run the same code in IIS6, it works fine.If I run the same code in the Visual Studio virtual web server, it works fine (on windows 7 or XP).I am rather concerned about this as our production web server will soon be IIS7; which I'm starting to really love, and would hate to revert to IIS6 just because this won't work in IIS7.I've tried a number of different patterns. It seems to always fail on the Flush() line with the error "System. Web.HttpException = {"The remote host closed the connection. The error code is 0x8007 0040."}"One thing I have noticed, if I move the flush statment to the finally clause or remove it all together; firefox will attempt to read the entire file - it appears to be looping through the entire block of code just fine, until it hits the flush statement. If I remove the flush statment I still get an error and it still tries to read the entire file before asking me to save it.[code]
