It configures VS for a while, then builds the project. This does not happen when I build the vb.net application itself, only the installation project in the same solution. This occurs on applications using the Leadtools library, but not others.

IDE :: Toolstrip Dialog Objects Do Not Appear In Component Tray In Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Professional On A Windows 7 System
Oct 5, 2011I am running Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Professional on a Windows 7 system.While working on a visual basic exercise in chapter 4 of the Microsoft Visual Basic 2008 Step by Step book on the MyMenu program I added a Toolstrip to my form and then I was trying to perform the add OpenFileDialog and ColorDialog controls to the component tray as described at the bottom of page 111 under Using Dialog Box Controls. I could never get the controls to appear in the component tray as instructed in the book.
I added a toolstrip to the form. According to my instructions I should be able to click on the Open file icon on the toolstrip to select it and then click anywhere else on the form. When I do that, the OpenFileDialog should appear on the component tray where I can then select it to enter code. This however does not happen.The only way I was able to get them to appear in the component tray was by opening the Menu program supplied on the DVD under chapter 4, selecting both of the above controls on the component tray, right clicking and then press copy. I then closed the Menu program and opened the MyMenu program that I created and then I was able to paste the two object controls to the component tray.
I went back to the original Menu program to see if I was able to place any other controls on the component tray by following the instructions in the book but was not able to. I also tried the same thing with MyMenu and it also still would not work.I have been unable to find anything that might explain why the component tray does not work as explained. Perhaps there is some setting somewhere that needs changed, but all searches have been unsuccessful.
PS. I have entered this on one of the other MicroSoft forums and although it has gotten multiple views I have not yet received any feedback.I also get the following error: Cannot add component of type 'ToolStripButton' to container of type 'form'.

This is the code I have so far and it seems to work well kind of anyway, it opens the last url not the new one. Feb 7, 2011The following zipped up Visual Studio Solution on Skydrive is immediately buildable and runnable; a usercontrol on a Form. Problem? If you click on any of the Edit Buttons and move the Horizontal Scroll, the values as they change in the Label_Values are off by one when you release the slider button. I think this is a timing problem between the Paint handler and the Horizontal Scroll event handler at the very bottom of the User Control code. Sorry I didn't eliminate

Feb 2, 2010I just created an idle lockout screen for my software (it's financial software, so if the program is inactive for 5 minutes, the login screen appears again).My question is... is there an easy way to hide all the other windows in my program that may be open? So let's say they are in frmData, and they have the dlgOptions screen open, with the dlgOptions_SelectItems dialog open from dlgOptions. There are 2 dialogs open on top of frmData. And, they are all opened with .ShowDialog().So, let's say they have that many windows open, and then leave there computer for 10 minutes. After 5 minutes, the login screen appears. But all that other stuff is in the background.Is there an easy way to "hide" all the other open windows, and just show the login screen, and then once login returns DialogResult.Yes, then show the forms/dialogs again? I could do this by delcaring instances of each form in a main module and doing it this way. But that sounds like a pain in the butt. Also, I don't know If I could hide frmMain while a dialog is open from it.

Apr 29, 2011I am working on a project where I need to open microsoft word documents in a form with a panel (the document will be put into a panel).I found the code to try and use API, it would not recognize the file names (yes they are valid filenames).Tried a whole bunch of stuff. Here is my current incarnation:

It ALWAYS starts the word document in its own window and will not redirect it to my own program.I tried to redirect the output and it gave me a message that it was not a valid win32 application.
