I want to use the filter element that is defined in CSS in order to render some PNGs for use in IE6. Using VS 2008 and creating a style sheet in the Studio I noticed that when I wrote the word filter, it was not recognised by intellisence. Is there a bug in VS 2008? View 2 RepliesI've been assigned a web app written in VB using VStudio.net 2003. I am trying to configure the source on my localhost (VStudio 2008) so I can explore and learn about the current app (before I begin any real changes) and I cannot get debugging working for the web service project(s).
Symptom 1: "Unable to automatically step into the server. The remote procedure could not be debugged. This usually indicates that debugging has not been enabled on the server. See help for more information". This happens when I try to F11 (stepInto) the proxy class which invokes my actual web method.
Symptom 2: Pre-setting a breakpoint in my .asmx file code on the statement that will be invoked does not work (i.e. the debugger simply doesn't stop). Having described the situation, here's how my VStudio Solution is configured: Service1 - project created from the VB - WEB - ASP.NET Web Service Application template; this Service1 project contains my main .asmx source code I want to debug. I don't think I can use my student account visual studio for commercial purposes. However, I can't afford eight hundred dollars for visual studio. I talked to a Microsoft rep and they said that with the visual basic express edition I won't be able to code anything or debug anything.
Does everyone here have visual studio professional or above? I was studying hard on my visual basic so that I could get started doing contract work on my own and hopefully start a software company after I get out of school. Now I don't know what to do. My next thought is to keep working on my C++ so that at least I can develop and deploy apps with free IDE's.

I can not add a Icon to my program, the default .ico for Visual Studio - Visual Basic is driving me nuts. I've tried editing code from the solution and the project. Both produce the error. Usually occurs when adding an "IF...Then..." condition. May work for hours but then crash. View 3 RepliesWhat I have is on my form there are several text boxes. These text boxes are for user input and attached to each text box is a Private Sub txtBox1_KeyPress function. In that function I have some validation code to check that the user is inputing only what I want them to. And if it doesnt it will pop up a message box telling them so, then it is supposed to clear the text box so the user can try again. But no matter what I try, the text box does not clear it still keeps the last character typed (the invalid one).

The commented methods at the bottom are some of the other things ive tried to make this work. The txtLanIp.text.clear() is what ive tried from the beginning. I have also tried setting the text to "", I even created an empty string and set the .Text value to it but no matter what it wont remove that character. I have also tried various trim(), len(), Select() functions, most either give me an 'index out of range error', a 'length cannot be less than zero' error or a general ExceptionOutOfBounds error. I am just tearing my hair out as to why the simple way doesnt work, there is no logical reason why and it gives no error it just doesn't clear the box.
I have also tried moving the validation to a _LostFocus but e.KeyChar isnt a valid method or property for that declaration, which doesn't surprise me but I wanted to try everything.I dont see how it would matter in this case but I am running Windows XP Pro SP3, though I also see the same behavior in Windows 7 64 bit ultimate sp1 and windows 7 64 bit pro.
In a while loop, I am writing a progressively increasing integer value (between 0 and 100) to the Value attribute of a ProgressBar control, when it disappears from the window in which it resides. I have verified at the time that it disappears that the Min is 0, Max is 100, and Value is a valid integer in range.

I have been working on a game development program for a few days now. And have come to a halt on one part, and thats adding a 3D space in the program. When I am looking at code examples sometimes they are in .vbp Now I know that is vor visual basic (.vbp) But How do I edit it in Visual Studio 2008. Should I use Microsoft Office's Version of Visual Basic?

I will try to implement the Mod twiddle/twaddle later.But first I found that I can use just cos terms or just sin terms without having to use both.First I found that I can create all the analysing frequencies and their Cosines angles with the following code.The addition of (PI/4) allows the use of only the cosine terms( or only sine terms).The first part of the code test for the size of the rows of the picture and if not an even multiple of two it resizes the image so that the number of pixels is an even power of two. View 1 Repliesi'm running Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition (latest service pack ... 9.0.30729.1 SP) on XP Pro SP3 with .Net Framework version 3.5 SP1 I have a rather large project I've imported from Visual Studio 2003 (Standard).The project compiles and runs just fine ... my compiled program itself never crashes.
But while I actually have the code up in the IDE, and simply adding/deleting code the whole IDE will randomly crash (usually without warning) and I loose my changes since last save.If/when I do get some hint of why it crashed, I get a window about illegal whitespace or something.... but that's rare ... usually it just crashes without warning and the whole IDE completely shuts down instantly. just deleting/adding a character is enough to trigger it maybe once every 30 minutes.
This is on a computer that is otherwise very rock solid .... no other program ever crashes, etc.
this event works ok, but the problem is that I don't know what field was clicked. Should I use objectinfo or something else? VB.net won't recognize for example e.objectinfo.
View 1 RepliesI know about VSTO/VSTA, and I also know that some VBA functionality (with .NET syntax of course) can be done in .NET. There is definitely a learning curve going from VBA to .NET without VSTO. My question though is, can everything that is done in VBA somehow be recreated in .NET without VSTO?
The reason is because I am converting my VBA application into .NET for several reasons: I want to take advantage of OO, my class libraries will be better available for use, and for fun. I wouldn't be too happy if I got so far in only to learn of some limitations.
