Unable To Find Visual Studio Professional Or Above?

I don't think I can use my student account visual studio for commercial purposes. However, I can't afford eight hundred dollars for visual studio. I talked to a Microsoft rep and they said that with the visual basic express edition I won't be able to code anything or debug anything.
Does everyone here have visual studio professional or above? I was studying hard on my visual basic so that I could get started doing contract work on my own and hopefully start a software company after I get out of school. Now I don't know what to do. My next thought is to keep working on my C++ so that at least I can develop and deploy apps with free IDE's.

I have spent the past week trying to get my copy of Visual Studio 2010 Professional to work on my Windows 7 Professional 64-bit laptop, with no avail.
Every time I try to create a new form using Visual Basic, an error message saying that Microsoft Resource File To COFF Object Conversion Utility has stopped working, and I cannot even run the new form to see if my coding is correct.
I have managed to find that it has something to do with the cvtres.exe file, but after a solid hour of research, I have found numerous others with a similar problem, but no solutions.
I have done registry scans, reinstalled Visual Studio about 3 times and have done many other suggested fixes that have done nothing but waste my time.

I have Visual Studio 2008 Professional and I'm trying to make it so I can click a button to send the application to the System Tray and then click the icon in the System Tray to make the application come back.
Can anyone provide me a method or sample code to do this?

i am using Visual Studio 2008 Professional SP1, i need some help with the syntax error. Below is a full part of the coding appear syntax error. The program stop working at "cmd.ExecuteNonQuery()".

I finally figure out where I could get the imagelibrary.I downloaded the 90 trial version of Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition: [URL] opened the .img file with winRAR, did a search of the img file for *imagelibrary*.I was able to extract the imageLibrary from this without installing the trial version.Not sure where it was supose to extract to so I put it in:C:Program FilesMicrosoft Visual Studio 9.0Common7VS2005ImageLibraryI can find this folder in the form design and so far, it's working with my version of C# Express.

I am running Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Professional on a Windows 7 system.While working on a visual basic exercise in chapter 4 of the Microsoft Visual Basic 2008 Step by Step book on the MyMenu program I added a Toolstrip to my form and then I was trying to perform the add OpenFileDialog and ColorDialog controls to the component tray as described at the bottom of page 111 under Using Dialog Box Controls. I could never get the controls to appear in the component tray as instructed in the book.
I added a toolstrip to the form. According to my instructions I should be able to click on the Open file icon on the toolstrip to select it and then click anywhere else on the form. When I do that, the OpenFileDialog should appear on the component tray where I can then select it to enter code. This however does not happen.The only way I was able to get them to appear in the component tray was by opening the Menu program supplied on the DVD under chapter 4, selecting both of the above controls on the component tray, right clicking and then press copy. I then closed the Menu program and opened the MyMenu program that I created and then I was able to paste the two object controls to the component tray.
I went back to the original Menu program to see if I was able to place any other controls on the component tray by following the instructions in the book but was not able to. I also tried the same thing with MyMenu and it also still would not work.I have been unable to find anything that might explain why the component tray does not work as explained. Perhaps there is some setting somewhere that needs changed, but all searches have been unsuccessful.
PS. I have entered this on one of the other MicroSoft forums and although it has gotten multiple views I have not yet received any feedback.I also get the following error: Cannot add component of type 'ToolStripButton' to container of type 'form'.

I want to use the filter element that is defined in CSS in order to render some PNGs for use in IE6. Using VS 2008 and creating a style sheet in the Studio I noticed that when I wrote the word filter, it was not recognised by intellisence. Is there a bug in VS 2008? How can I make my app recognise filter? I really need to use this command word in order to render my transparency correctly

After upgrading from x86 to x64 bit I have been comfortable coding without any issues but now I have recently ran into the smallest but most significant final touch to the project. I can not add a Icon to my program, the default .ico for Visual Studio - Visual Basic is driving me nuts. Here is how I come to know if I am solving my problem right? - But after clicking on the <Browse> menu I just get a short respond for 1 sec and nothing opens. seriously I searched google but could only find hundreds of year old post about general icon help and nothing to pin point 'my' issue. i think it might not have the right directory or something.. but idk how to fix it CAN YOU HELP ME SOLVE.

I've been assigned a web app written in VB using VStudio.net 2003. I am trying to configure the source on my localhost (VStudio 2008) so I can explore and learn about the current app (before I begin any real changes) and I cannot get debugging working for the web service project(s).
Symptom 1: "Unable to automatically step into the server. The remote procedure could not be debugged. This usually indicates that debugging has not been enabled on the server. See help for more information". This happens when I try to F11 (stepInto) the proxy class which invokes my actual web method.
Symptom 2: Pre-setting a breakpoint in my .asmx file code on the statement that will be invoked does not work (i.e. the debugger simply doesn't stop). Having described the situation, here's how my VStudio Solution is configured: Service1 - project created from the VB - WEB - ASP.NET Web Service Application template; this Service1 project contains my main .asmx source code I want to debug. What I have is on my form there are several text boxes. These text boxes are for user input and attached to each text box is a Private Sub txtBox1_KeyPress function. In that function I have some validation code to check that the user is inputing only what I want them to. And if it doesnt it will pop up a message box telling them so, then it is supposed to clear the text box so the user can try again. But no matter what I try, the text box does not clear it still keeps the last character typed (the invalid one).
Here is the code for one of the text boxes.

The commented methods at the bottom are some of the other things ive tried to make this work. The txtLanIp.text.clear() is what ive tried from the beginning. I have also tried setting the text to "", I even created an empty string and set the .Text value to it but no matter what it wont remove that character. I have also tried various trim(), len(), Select() functions, most either give me an 'index out of range error', a 'length cannot be less than zero' error or a general ExceptionOutOfBounds error. I am just tearing my hair out as to why the simple way doesnt work, there is no logical reason why and it gives no error it just doesn't clear the box.
I have also tried moving the validation to a _LostFocus but e.KeyChar isnt a valid method or property for that declaration, which doesn't surprise me but I wanted to try everything.I dont see how it would matter in this case but I am running Windows XP Pro SP3, though I also see the same behavior in Windows 7 64 bit ultimate sp1 and windows 7 64 bit pro.

I have my .net app running on my home machine, and at one point it threw an exception.Problem is, Windows doesn't tell me what the exception is, just says that it stopped responding and closed it.I want to find the exception and stack trace so I can debug it, since I can't to reproduce the problem inside visual studio.The machine is running Windows 7 x64. I found in the event viewer some minor information:

P2: 1.4.0.0

So based on that I can see there was a null reference. I remember way back when I was on XP, when the application crashed it would show the whole exception stack. Can I find that information somewhere?

All previous versions of my software are affected as well. I have two projects in the solution. Both are written in vb. All versions used to work fine.

* The application should allow users to create as many new forms as they want and each form should behave like a MS Visual Studio WinForm. By saying that it should be a container for drag and drop of controls from the toolbox that I will develop....
* Once the user design's each screen to his taste by placing various controls on the form, he should be able to save the form as a screen. Of course I have to provide functionality for each of the controls such as if he drags a button on to the form, he should be able to specify what action it has to perfom when clicked when the application is put into run mode. I have a Visual Basic project and when working and modifying code, the compiler will crash and then a message will say something like "Microsoft visual studio encountered a problem and was shut down." I've tried editing code from the solution and the project. Both produce the error. Usually occurs when adding an "IF...Then..." condition. May work for hours but then crash. Solution will compile and build.
