I know that you can refer to a form "indirectly" by simply including "me" instead of "form1," for example.
Is there a way to do the same thing for form elements like text boxes or radio buttons?

I've written a program that works perfectly well when installed on my development PC, but when I use the wizard in "Build-> Publish" and install the software on another computer it complains it can't find the DLL that I've linked to.The DLL comes from a programmable board that I'm linking to, so I don't have access to the source code, and I've included it in my project using the following lines:

However I've not included the DLL in any other way, so I'm wondering if I have to add it to a list of items that need to be included with the installer, or if I've declared it in such as way that it needs to be in the same place for all installations.
Installed DirectX11 June 10 SDK on Win7 machine with VS2010 Ultimate. Project written in Visual Basic, targeting .net 2.0. Just need the directx audio player capability.
Tried to add reference to the SDK Developer Runtime Files.
Nothing from DirectX11 shows up in the add reference COM for the project.
I can't seem to make my project see or accept the DirectX11 .dll's.
Unclear of which one I need other than maybe XAudio2 (I think) to play a .wav file.

I have an application for working with files. It needs to work with the files one character at a time. I am using an ArrayList to store the data. Here's the code that's causing the problem:

We have upgraded our project from Visual Studio 2008 to Visual Studio 2010 without any issues until now. Our project contains a folder call Libraries which contains different versions of Oracle ODP.NET DLL's as well as different versions of Telerik DLL's. Our project contains references to one of the versions of each. The problem is once we remove the reference and re-add it by browsing to the new version, again inside the Libraries folder inside the project, it adds the reference, but to the same version we just removed. We can even copy the DLL to our desktop, remove the reference and add to the new one on our desktop and it still will point to the Libraries folder version???. The only we we can actual change the reference to the new DLL is by manually changing the path in the .vbproj file, which is obviously not going to work for us. The same behaviour worked perfectly in VS 2008. We switch our references quite often, when new versions come out, but also far more often to QA different versions of ODP.NET and Telerik Control DLL's, so manually editing the .vbproj file is becoming quickly cumbersome. If I browse to a specific version at a specific path, Visual Studio should ALWAYS do what I'm telling it to do..
I did some seaching and came across a few other people with the same issue. This better not be as designed and if it's a bug, which I believe it to be, when will it be fixed?[URL]..
i'm running Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition (latest service pack ... 9.0.30729.1 SP) on XP Pro SP3 with .Net Framework version 3.5 SP1 I have a rather large project I've imported from Visual Studio 2003 (Standard).The project compiles and runs just fine ... my compiled program itself never crashes.
But while I actually have the code up in the IDE, and simply adding/deleting code the whole IDE will randomly crash (usually without warning) and I loose my changes since last save.If/when I do get some hint of why it crashed, I get a window about illegal whitespace or something.... but that's rare ... usually it just crashes without warning and the whole IDE completely shuts down instantly. just deleting/adding a character is enough to trigger it maybe once every 30 minutes.
This is on a computer that is otherwise very rock solid .... no other program ever crashes, etc.
I want to use the filter element that is defined in CSS in order to render some PNGs for use in IE6. Using VS 2008 and creating a style sheet in the Studio I noticed that when I wrote the word filter, it was not recognised by intellisence. Is there a bug in VS 2008? How can I make my app recognise filter? I really need to use this command word in order to render my transparency correctly

Is it easier to print a VB.net windows form in Visual Studio 2010?
I have been struggling with this - the PrintForm utility in the Powerpack only prints the displayed portion of the current form.
I spent a lot of time creating a process which loops through each control on my form, converts to a bitmap, and drops it on the print document, only to finally discover that the RichTextBox control (which I used extensively) does not include a functional DrawToBitmap method.
I have already researched various ways of managing this, but if VS2010 will do it without jumping through the hoops then I'll spring for it like the sucker I am.
I can do this in Access and VB6, I believe, so I don't think this is an unreasonable expectation.
i just got visual studio pro 2 days ago and every time i create a project, close VS 2010 and when i come back to work on my project and i click on my Form.vb i got every time : Visual Studio has stopped working.Then i tried run as administrator it doesn't work. What i don't understand it's when i click on show code the form load but the moment i click on it ,it just crashing and it's make me wanna drop laptop cascade...I've look on forum and post here but i haven't saw what i was searching.Here the error that VS show me :(Those files doesn't exist i search)

View 2 RepliesI've inherited a large Visual Basic project that has a number of "frames" (obviously, it came from Visual Basic 6.0) which are now GroupBoxes. They all cover the entire form. The program chooses which one to display during execution. That all works fine.
Is there a way to switch between them for display in Visual Studio designer? Now it's displaying only the last one added, and I have to go to the code rather than Toolbox to make changes to all the ones behind the top one.

When I am trying to debug the first sample application (a Windows form), it is telling me that it can't load System.Drawing V4.0.0.0. However, if I create a new Windows Form application (C# or VB.Net) this works fine.
I had a look at the References tab in the project settings and System.Windows.Forms is referenced, but the version referenced is 2.0.0.0. I have removed and re-added this reference and it stays at 2.0.0.0 and I still get the error.Does anybody have any ideas as to what may be going on?

I right-click the project icon in the Solution Explorer, and click Property Pages. Under the References tree option, I click the 'Add' button on the right. I navigate to System.Xml in the .NET tab, and double click it (the Path it lists for System.Xml, C:WINDOWSMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727System.XML.dll, DOES exist). The dialog disappears, but... System.Xml does not get added as a reference! The list just stays the same.

When I double click on a form control while in the design view in a Web Application project within Visual Studio 2010, say a 'button' or a 'submit' for example, it inserts a javascript function into my .aspx file. When I do this at work it automatically creates an event handler for the control in the code-behind.How do I change this to that setting? I have used '/resetsettings' already, and other answers to similar questions do not solve my problem. I am just wondering how I can add Direct X references to Visual Basic in Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2. I cant find them in the .NET reference list, or the reference list, or anywhere. I downloaded the Direct X SDK for August 2009, but I can not add the .dll files to the reference list. Is there anything I can do to add them? I need the references for programming reasons.
