There is another closed post about this problem but it didn't solve the problem for me...Error occurs trying to run a ClickOnce app. In my case the app previously works and just stopped working with the error"the application cannot be started please contact the vendor"Add/Remove didn't remove the app and Re-installing didn't work either.To solve the problem:-Create a new user with Admin rightsLog in as new userGoto directory C:Documents and SettingsoriginaluserLocal SettingsApps2.0Delete any 'strange' folders, i.e. 9JN9HTAJ.Q0WLog offLogin as original userRe-installThis worked for me.

I have an application that is distributed with click-once. One of my users already makes use of it for quite some time without any problems. Only recently, he is not able to launch the application anymore. During the check that is made to see if there is a new version of the software, he gets the message: "Application cannot be started, contact vendor" If I copy my application manually, he is able to launch it without any problem.I included the detailled log below.

I want to make a contact form in my application. Basically all it is is 3 textboxes for name, email and message. Plus a submit button.
How can I send the user's message to my email address though?
How can I make it compulsory to fill in all fields? (ie submit will show error messagebox if all fields aren't filled in)

Let's say 10 desktop shortcuts, all with different names/icons, point to and can start the same exe application from the same directory. Is there any means for the application to know the distinct name of the shortcut that was doubled_clicked. Also is there any means for a running application to know if it was started by command line, by a double_click on the exe, by a double_click on a shortcut that points to it, or by another process' call?

I'm having troubles finding a way to retrieve informations about which program started my own application. The situation is this: I have a VB .net application which launch another VB .net application (both made with the .net framework 2.0) using process.start(), the second application need to know which software or process started it, if it was started by another software and not directly by the user, and I can't access to the source code of the first application so there's no way I can send a specific command line to the second application.

web app that has been created using VB.NET, nothing major, just a normal site. His original programmer couldn't continue so he wants me to finish it. Problem is I don't program using VB.NET nor have I any intention of learning it for a project this small. Usually I would run from something like this but I need the cash.Should I take the project and continue it using C# or just leave it. Has anyone had a similar experience and how did it turn out.

I have been investigating this for several hours. I have found numerous links, including several here on SO which claim to show how to find the startup path, or the application directory. All of the solutions suggested return a location:
C:Users<my user name>AppDataLocalApps2.0XO8PWL8B.5HH1GZX7M0H.N1J<temp location>
When my WPF xbap is run from a remote location. I need to determine the actual folder of the remote location. I am deploying this to an internal server ABCDEF, so in order to run this application I am entering:
\ABCDEFmyApp.xbap
I want to programmatically determine the server and folder. My reason for this is that each time you publish a WPF with "automatically increment revision with each publish" turned on. The folder where additional DLL's are located changes, additional programs that this program depends on. I want to be able to dynamically determine the correct folder to look at.
I have tried:

how to use Visual Basic to pass arguments to an application after said application was started. Example, "myapp.exe -d" enables debug mode, I want to be able to start myapp.exe then have a checkbox labeled "Debug mode" in Visual Basic. Upon "Debug Mode" being checked, it passes the argument -d to myapp.exe. Upon it being unchecked, it withdraws that argument from myapp.exe.

I am writing a program which detects a development board I designed which communicates with an FTDI chip. Right now my program scans any COM ports and generates a list, which the user will then choose from and connect with that device. The problem is that I want to isolate that list to only the devices which I designed. The FTDI has a unique manufacturer and device ID, but I only know how to access this data 'the old fashioned way' (i.e. through device manager).
What I would like to know how to do is determine the VID and PID of a COM port from VB, so I can dynamically get rid of any devices which do not meet the proper requirements and thus my list will only show the correct devices.

I created a small project in VB using a SQLExpress db. So far everything has been fine. I need to take the little I've done to the customer for a look and feel approval.
When attempting to publish the project, I get the following errors:
"The install location for prerequisites has not been set to 'component vendor's web site' and the file...." You know the drill.
The two files are SQLEXPR32_x86_ENU.EXE and SQLEXPR_x64_ENU.EXE
I have downloaded the files and put them in the following directory:

What's different about SqlExpress than other prerequisites?

I am trying add the prerequisites with my setup i have set the prerequisites download location to the same whwere my application is and now i am getting this type of several errors.
Error 1 The install location for prerequisites has not been set to 'component vendor's web site' and the file 'DotNetFX35SP1dotNetFX20aspnet.msp' in item '.NET Framework 3.5 SP1' can not be located on disk. This is my project for class and this is what i have so far but my teacher gave me no credit. What am i doing wrong? i tried rearranging it but no success.
A fast-food vendor sells pizza slices at $1.25 each, fries at $1.00, and soft drinks at $0.75. Write a program to computer a customers bill. The program should use 4 subprocedures that do the following:
1. read in the amount of each item ordered
2. calculate the total cost
3. display an itemized bill
4. read in the users full name from a textbox, and display a sentence, addressing the user by first name only and in upper case characters, informing the user of their bill

I am having trouble getting the path of my application's executable file at runtime. This application is being started by another executable and whenever I try to use Application.ExecutablePath I get the path to that application instead of mine.

Neither of these give me the path of the program in which those two lines are exectured, they only tell what program started this program.

I have a report made in Crystal Reports XI. The report is generated and exported to PDF in visual basic script using COM interface. Generally everything is running smoothly, but in one case generation breaks with error: Failed to retrieve data from the database. Details: [Database Vendor Code 9421]
Database used is MSSQL 2005 connected over ODBC to CR XI. When I am opening report with exactly the same parameters in Designer, everything works fine.It looks like it is data related, but it is hard to trace since the whole report is pretty sophisticated. Anyway I spent half a day on crawling over Dr. Google and it seems that he has no clue what might be an issue.
