Displaying Fields Related To Compact Disk Catalog?
Mar 26, 2009I'd like to jump in and write a simple application to display fields related to my compact disk library (Disk#, Composer, Work, etc.) in a scrollable window. The current catalog in in a DOS/xBase format, but I can export it to Excel or Access. I am using VB within Visual Studio 2008. Any most effective VB command(s) to use? Is the indicated command used within a looping structure?

Jun 11, 2011I have a table being imported into my VB application that has 3 columns. I have written code to import the table, and have written code to display on the first column (country) in a list view.
What I want to do now is have the user select / highlight an item in the list view, and have the third column (currency) related to that selected country appear in a text box when a button is clicked.
Here's the code I've written that successfully imports the data and displays the first column:

Data Table - Datagridview - On Running The Code A Second Time The Related Data Is Lost

Using a datagridview for the first table I am able to enter and save data ok. if I run the code twice in a row the data is still there. When I edit the data in the related table in it's own datagirdview the data is there and displays correctly, but on running the code a second time the related data is lost. In both cellendedit events I am using

Jan 1, 2011I have a datagridview bound to a bindingsource. Two of the columns contain values that link to the primary keys in other tables. Instead of displaying the primary key values, I would like to display the name of the item associated with the primary key. In other words, the primary key value may be 3 but I want to display "Furnace 5" in the datagridview instead of 3 (which it is now displaying).

Oct 19, 2011I have a Microsoft Access database that has one-to-many relationships. When I created the tables for the database, I did not enter any data into any records, as that will be done by the application user. My problems is when data is entered into the parent and child tables, the parent table data is the only one that gets saved when clicking the save button on the binding navigator.If I have the parent and child tables data entered the same way a user would prior to connecting the data source and add EndEdit() to the child table BindingSource in the BindingNavigator click event, everything works exactly the way I want it to.This application is a data entry form, so it wouldn't make sense to have to have data entered in tables prior to adding the data source to my project. What is the best way to create a data entry form with one-to-many relationships? [code]

Data Table Only Partially Updates (Parameter Related)?
Jan 25, 2012I have a data table that I am updating. The table has 5 rows.The first row in the data table that has an ID of 1 will not update with new values, but the rest of the data table does update, I can't figure out why.
It is an access database I am updating, Is there a problem with my Update String? Because it updates all of my table except for the first row that has an ID of 1.

And I configured the TableAdapter exactly as shown by Beth, yet I am getting an error here:
Me.OrderDetailsTableAdapter.Update(newOrderDetailsRow) The Error says: "You must enter a value in the 'OrderDetails.CustomerID' field."

The task at hand was to remove all session variables. What would be the best way to represent this data without the use of session. Originally i was told to put all session items into a cookie, while this worked for most of the items it will not work for this due to the cookie size limitation, Im also not to keen on the idea of keeping it in ViewState or even if that is an option. Im very new to VB and dont have much expierence re-writting legacy code. Session is not an option because this is being moved into a web-farm and Sticky sessions are turned off so it must work without session.

Mar 17, 2011I created Dataentry forms. In the form there are so many controls like DropDowns and textboxes. I am using Access database. Now I enterd the few records into the controls, and these records are saved into the Database. But now if i enter the any data which i recently saved in the database to the textbox or any other control then the remaining controls should be display the related data.
For example i have 4 controls in my form one is dropdown and 3 are textboxes. If i select the data in the dropdown then the remaining 3 textboxes shows the related data. How can i dispaly the corresponding data to the other controls?

Oct 14, 2009I would like to use a treeview control to display related data as Folders(Level0), Projects(Level1), Drawings(Level2). So far I don't have a problem reading data from a database, creating classes to hold the data and displaying the tree from the class data. I have created (3) contect menu strips, one for each level of the tree to perform various tasks. Each menu has an ADD option to either add a folder, add a project or add a drawing.My problem is as follows...After I add the node, in the correct location, I would like to have it set in the BeginEdit mode.

After this code runs, the node.Text changes back to "New Project". As you can see, I added a few debug.print statements to try to see what is going on. It really blew my mind to see that the entire tree printed in the immediate window.I have already created a work around for this, but is isn't really the way I'd like to see the program run.
VS 2008 : Data Bound List Box, Displaying Data Into Textbox?
Jan 3, 2011I want it so every time I click an ITEM in the Listbox it displays ALL the data into the textbox. I know there's an easy way using table adapters and binding the listbox, but I'd prefer to do it this way for my project.
So this is what I got.

Dec 1, 2010What I am trying to accomplish is this: I have a login page were a student logs in. After the login the student will be taken to a student user page. This page has 2 list boxes. The first is showing the exams that he has passed and the other shows the exams he has yet to complete or fail. I can not get any data to display in my list box.
