I have a datagridview bound to a bindingsource. Two of the columns contain values that link to the primary keys in other tables. Instead of displaying the primary key values, I would like to display the name of the item associated with the primary key. In other words, the primary key value may be 3 but I want to display "Furnace 5" in the datagridview instead of 3 (which it is now displaying).

I would like to use a treeview control to display related data as Folders(Level0), Projects(Level1), Drawings(Level2). So far I don't have a problem reading data from a database, creating classes to hold the data and displaying the tree from the class data. I have created (3) contect menu strips, one for each level of the tree to perform various tasks. Each menu has an ADD option to either add a folder, add a project or add a drawing.My problem is as follows...After I add the node, in the correct location, I would like to have it set in the BeginEdit mode.

After this code runs, the node.Text changes back to "New Project". As you can see, I added a few debug.print statements to try to see what is going on. It really blew my mind to see that the entire tree printed in the immediate window.I have already created a work around for this, but is isn't really the way I'd like to see the program run.
I created Dataentry forms. In the form there are so many controls like DropDowns and textboxes. I am using Access database. Now I enterd the few records into the controls, and these records are saved into the Database. But now if i enter the any data which i recently saved in the database to the textbox or any other control then the remaining controls should be display the related data.
For example i have 4 controls in my form one is dropdown and 3 are textboxes. If i select the data in the dropdown then the remaining 3 textboxes shows the related data. How can i dispaly the corresponding data to the other controls?
On geting input into DataGridViewTextBoxColumn but the column should not accept input of data that is not integer like; 10003, 2.00, 1500.00

I have two data tables. the second related to the first. Using a datagridview for the first table I am able to enter and save data ok. if I run the code twice in a row the data is still there. When I edit the data in the related table in it's own datagirdview the data is there and displays correctly, but on running the code a second time the related data is lost. In both cellendedit events I am using

I have a Microsoft Access database that has one-to-many relationships. When I created the tables for the database, I did not enter any data into any records, as that will be done by the application user. My problems is when data is entered into the parent and child tables, the parent table data is the only one that gets saved when clicking the save button on the binding navigator.If I have the parent and child tables data entered the same way a user would prior to connecting the data source and add EndEdit() to the child table BindingSource in the BindingNavigator click event, everything works exactly the way I want it to.This application is a data entry form, so it wouldn't make sense to have to have data entered in tables prior to adding the data source to my project. And I configured the TableAdapter exactly as shown by Beth, yet I am getting an error here:

The task at hand was to remove all session variables. What would be the best way to represent this data without the use of session. Originally i was told to put all session items into a cookie, while this worked for most of the items it will not work for this due to the cookie size limitation, Im also not to keen on the idea of keeping it in ViewState or even if that is an option. Im very new to VB and dont have much expierence re-writting legacy code. Session is not an option because this is being moved into a web-farm and Sticky sessions are turned off so it must work without session.
I would need to update a record using inline SQL string, when I use the first SQL string I get the error "data type mismatch in criteria expresion" but when I remove the time fields and run the SQL string the code works

I have an Address Book project with a listbox. The listbox is bound to the database via the little arrow pop-up box in the corner of the listbox. I have the DisplayMember set to FirstName, and obviously only display the First Name of the contact in the ListBox. Is there an easy way to change it so that it displays the First and Last names?
