DataGridView - Displaying Data From TCP Stream
May 24, 2012I am using a Data Grid View to display data that come in from a tcp stream. When the stream receives data, the data is parsed and placed at the top of the grid. These are my top 3 lines of the cell clicked event of the Data Grid View.

I placed the top line there to prevent errors when a user clicks on a blank grid before any data has been placed in the grid and to stop selecting anything if a user clicks on a column header. But my problem is as data is added to the to the top line that line of data is not click-able because the index=0 or Nothing. So my question is what would be the best way to code this so it is protected from the user clicking on a blank grid and the column headers but still allow the user to click on the first line of data?

Mar 12, 2010I'm utilizing the code posted by Jesper Palm here: url...It works great with a PictureBox showing its information. But for some reason I cannot get the DataGridView to display anything when it is in the popup. If I pull the grid out of the popup it displays all of its information fine. If I pause during debug, the grid shows that it has all the data in it. It's just not displaying anything.

But this just displays the details of the table columns. For example row 1 has details about usrID, row 2 usrTel ect rather than the actual data of the table.

Mar 15, 2011I have a DataGridView (dgv) on a Windows form (VB.NET) which is bound to a datatable. One of the bound columns is a an ID (Foreign Key) to another datatable. All I want to do is Hide the ID column and populate an unbound column with the Name (ParmName) for the user. I searched the foreign value in the datatable and retrieved the information. I set the Value of the cell in the Datarow. All works well, but does not display. The cell accepts the value...I can even Debug.Print the values to the console. They are there just nothing displaying in DataGridView. Nothing odd about DataGridView. Should be straight forward...

DataGridView Not Displaying All Images?
Jan 8, 2010I am making futile attempts to get the DataGridView control in a Windows Form to disply several rows of images. The images are all contained on the local disk. The names of the image files (all .JPG or .GIF files) are taken from an XML file. The XML is not the issue, since some of of the images actually appear.
The control has three DataGridViewImageColumn objects. Each column is set up to display a file called Blank.gif which is a transparent GIF containing a single pixel. Later, during the form's Load event, I replace each cell's Value property with the image that the XML file says should be in the column. The XML file contains the name of the file, and I use the System.Drawing.Image.FromFile() method to create the image object from the file name.
The behavior I am experiencing is that that only the very last row of images is properly displayed. The rows above it display the Blank.gif file as if they had never been assigned their intended images. If I change the code so that it will only iterate through three images (one row), all the images show up in the grid. If I then change the code so that six images are processed, only the second row of images is diplayed, and the first row shows only the Blank.gif file's image content. If I change the code to process nine images, the first six show up as blank, and the last three in the final row are properly displayed.
I have lost a considerable amount of my little remaining hair trying to fix this problem to no avail.

IDE :: DataGridView Properties Are Not Displaying?
Sep 28, 2010When in designer, if I add a DataGridView to a windows form, the properties do not show in the properties window. I'm using Visual Studio on XP. The problem exisits even if I create a new project, open a windows form and then drag a DataGridView onto the form.The grid view is present because I can add columns, etc. The only issue is the properties don't display. So I can't rename it from DataGridView1 unless I do it in code.
