VS 2010 GetFiles - Getting Error 'SearchOption.AllDirectories'?
Nov 18, 2011im having some issues with getfiles, and i cant seem to pin point the cause, heres the issue:Im scanning a folder which has a mix of file types (.7z, .rar, .bin) and for each file im checking a dat file to see if that file (via the crc32) is listed in the dat. Pretty simple, but my code is randomly hit/missing heres what i have around my vb For Each strFile As String In System.IO.Directory.GetFiles(ComboBox1.Text, "*.*", SearchOption.AllDirectories)Next ComboBox1 .Text is a folder path for example 'C: est'
And inside of that i hae the crc32 code, the crc 32 code works great, the issue is with the above so no need to post lots of crc32 code. Now the problem im having is say i scan a folder with 10 files, lets say 5 7z's and 5 .bin's, sometimes the scan will scan all 10 files sometimes only 5 7z's and 1.bin, sometimes no .bins, sometimes only the .bins.If i put the .bins in a folder on there own and scan it will scan them all, same with the 7z's, so why is it not working when there all in the same folder?EDIT: I think the error is here 'SearchOption.AllDirectories' but i dont understand how to fix it, if i put all files into the root of the folder it will scan all of them, but i wanted to be able to scan the files in the subfolders to hence the SearchOption.All Directories, but it seem to be failing
Change SearchOption.AllDirectories To SearchOption.TopDirectoryOnly?

If I change SearchOption.AllDirectories to SearchOption.TopDirectoryOnly then the code executes without any errors and the files in the top Directory are displayed. Apparently there is an access method that I need to set but I'm not sure how to implement it into the existing code.

May 9, 2011I am having a problem with my application which I recently created. The application was designed to search for files either recursively or non recursively for files with certain attributes ie. file size, date created, etc. The application works (well sort of)....
I currently have the application creating a tmp file using IO.filestream and IO.FileMode.Create and then I'm using StreamWriter to write the names of all the files that are found with the matching attributes to the tmp file that was created in the tmp directory. What I have found is this:
If the parameter to do a search recursive is True then the names of the files through the directory tree are successfully written to the tmp file and all is well however if the base path specified does not contain any sub directories and searchoption.alldirectories is used I cannot get any of the files names who match the search criteria to be written to the temp file. If I add a console.writeline(sfile) just above the call to write to the temp file the names are written to the console successfuly (just like they should be to the temp file).
If I choose not to do a recursive search and specify using SearchOption.AllDirectories then I see a similar problem...none of the files in the top level directory that meet the search criteria are written to the tmp file like I'm telling them to. Again if I add a console.writeline just before the call to write to the temp file the names of all the files in the top level directory are written to the console successfully.
I cannot figure this one out...I am stepping through the code with the debugger and based on what I'm seeing I should not be having this problem. I know the logic is correct because I can write it out to the console correctly...
Stepping Through A Directory With Dir.getfiles(path,searchoption.alldirectories)?
Jan 2, 2012When I have a directory setup with a subdirectory and both the top directory and sub directory have files in them I get a list of all the files with no directory info. That's OK, but I need to restore them to another location with the same directory structure in place. I'm essentially copying all files in a directory and it's subs to another location. The problem is the sub directory info is not in the files list so everything goes into the main directory. How do I get around this or can I? Here is what I'm using now.
I have a directory, NewProg in Program Files and a sub directory under it called Sub.
files=dir.getfiles("C:Program FilesNewProg",searchoption.alldirectories)
My.Computer.FileSystem.CopyFile("C:Program FilesNewProg" & File.Name, "C:NewProg" & File.Name,True)The Sub directory is not created and even when it is there, it always comes up empty with all it's files copied into the main NewProg.

Aug 9, 2011I'm using Visual Studio Development Server (Visual Basic 2010) and it works fine. Now I've enabled NTLM Authorization because I want to test the website using a different user account. Now when I try to access the website I always get the following error page:

HTTP Error 403 - Forbidden.
Version Information: ASP.NET Development Server 10.0.0.0 .I'm using a test account which is a normal user within our domain. I've already set the access rights in my project folder to Full Access for this user but it does not help.

This icon is the Application icon which is in the same directory of the project.vbc is started with /win32icon:"Recycle Bin Empty.ico" parameter.Don't know why MSBuild can't reach the file.

VB Compiler Is Unable To Recover From The Error: System Error &Hc0000005& (VB Internal Compiler Error)
Jul 1, 2011This error first appear to occur randomly. Steps to recreate:Open Visual Studio and load a solution (some files automatically opened) - this is when the problem occurs Close all open files Restart visual studio and load solution (no issues)Open Exactly the same files again, restart visual studio and load solution so files open automatically (problem occurs!)
However, when trying to narrow it down to a single file (that is automatically opened when the solution is loaded), I couldn't reproduce the problem. Now with all the files open again the problem doesn't occur!!! So it looks like it is fixed - though this happened before and eventually the issue came back.
I think it is to do with one of the user controls with DevExpress controls on it - when the error occurs, the designer displays the error. Though I can't reproduce it at the moment to confirm that.

Jun 2, 2011I got a serious problem. Though I have made my program newly it shows error. I have used 1280,1024 animation only for first form then used 1280,1024 image for every form. Today I was checking then it was showing me error message for 19th & 20th form. If I use On Error Resume Next then it shows error for another form ; if I use same code there in the menu item I mean so that I can get rid of error when I click to show a form it shows another error. First error message is "InvalidOperationException was unhandeled An error occurred creating the form. See Exception.InnerException for details. The error is parameter is not valid." and second error is "OutofMemoryException was unhandled Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown". I have noticed it that it doesnt show error message for those form which have few labels and text boxes. It shows error message for those forms which have 1 menu bar, 2 picture boxes(one is 1280,1024 & another is 250,456), 2 group boxes, 40 labels, 3 combo boxes, 38 text boxes & three buttons. Please help me I need to get rid of this problem. Does it mean that I cant use unlimited control there in my form?

First one: At some point in the application I have the valor parameter (of the visual Basic Function) as a string with spaces that is something like "some string with spaces". When this happens, the stored procedure don't update the table. If I execute the SP directly in the DB (with SQL Developer) all works fine. I know it has something to do with the string missing some quotes(') but I haven't make it work yet. Some ideas on this?
Second problem: Sometimes, when debuging the application, if I interrupt the execution, I start getting the ORA-24338 'statement handle not executed' error for hours every time I try to execute it again. I believe it has something to do with an open transaction. But honestly, as I'm new in working with Oracle, I really have no idea what the problem could be.

Jul 18, 2008This is not a homework of mine and i had never tried ms access database with vb so i just gave it a shot. so this is my first time and i am just trying not asking anyone to complete my homework. I have been searching for this a lot on internet but couldn't find a solution to this so i decided to ask this question here.
i have this sql code. what i want to do is that create a basic login form where users puts it's username in the UsernameTextbox and Password in the PasswordTextbox. If the the information match then a message box appears saying that the user is valid and if the information does not exist, a mesage box appears saying the users is not valid. now everytime i execute(run) the code, i come up with this error: Syntax error (missing operator) in query expression ''UserName' = 'Admin' 'PassWord' = 'testing123''.
The field names(UserName, PassWord) are also correct they are same as in the database. the information put in the username and password textbox are correct and they match the information on the database. But i dont know why this error comes up.
