I was wondering if there's an easy way to make a cell textchanged event for a datagridview, like you have the textchanged event for textboxes, an event that gets triggered everytime the user press a letter/number/symbol/backspace/space, so i can check in that event if the datagridview has changes and whether i should enabled my save button to save the changes made.
Or is there a better way to check whether i need to enable my save button?
I wish to be able to instantiate my Cell class while naming the cell instance with such name as "A", "B", "C", etc. just like in an Excel spreadsheet.
I have my Cell class like so:

I would need to generate a name based on the alphabetic letters and double and triple them once I encounter the last alphabet letter 'Z'. The algorithm would have to generate the letters that I would concatenate with the rowIndex value that would result to this naming strategy such as Excel.
The letters would be:
A, B, C, D...Z, AA, AB, AC...AZ, BA, BB, BC...BZ, CA...XAA, XAB, XAC...
While we clearly know that colIndex value 1 will definitely designate column "A", value 2 = "B", value 3 = "C", etc.
My problem is particularly when we double the letters.
how I could achieve this in the simplest possible form?
Is there a way to implement a new column with a header in a checklistbox in vb.net? I've done a bit of searching, but didn't find much on the topic. Should I just abandon the quest and use a listview or some other control?

View 1 RepliesIt seems that on clicking datagridview column header, the column will be automatically sorted based on the column type. I have a column showing some numbers. If column type is string, it sorts "1","20","3" into "1","20","3". If column type is double, it sorts into "1","3","20" which is the result that I want. However, there might be some erros in the numbers and error messages(text) will show in the cell instead of numbers. So I cannot set the column type as double. I want to ignore these error messages and sort all the numbers. How can I do this?
Also, I need to add some background colors to different rows in datagridview. So in the column header click event, I call the bkgColor Sub to achieve this. My question is that how can I override the sorting method in this event?

Am using the Entity Framework and Columns Completed and Taken are of bit Datatype. When the query results are displayed in the datagridview, these bit columns are returned as of ColumnType Textbox - so i get a Datagridview textbox column with true or false string values.
I want to display Completed and Taken as Checkbox columns (either ticked for True or un-ticked for false) but ofcourse i can't do this in EditColumn dialogue because the Datagridview is unbound.

in my datagridview, i have a column where, depending on values in other columns, I declare a new DataGridViewImageCell, set the image and then attatch it to the grid (brief example below):

When i click on the column header in question to sort, I get the exception "At least one object must implement IComparible". I kind of guess this because certain cells are different types but I'm not sure how to get around the problem and where to implement IComparible. Does anybody have any examples?

All I want to do is Hide the ID column and populate an unbound column with the Name (ParmName) for the user. I searched the foreign value in the datatable and retrieved the information. I set the Value of the cell in the Datarow. All works well, but does not display. The cell accepts the value...I can even Debug.Print the values to the console. They are there just nothing displaying in DataGridView. Nothing odd about DataGridView. Should be straight forward...

How do i code an enter event textchanged event to only work when the enter key is pressed?
1. i have a text button that has a value, or a user can enter their own value
2. however when they enter their own value, the total value doesn't changed because they need to press the enter key to validate the event..
I have a situation where I'm allowing users to enter new values into a combo box or selected existing values from the combo box's drop-down list. Is ther any way to tell whether a value was entered or selected? I've looked at the TextChanged and SelectedIndexChanged events and neither will do what I need to do.
