Import Data Into SQL From An Array?

Mar 30, 2012

Here is my objective. I have a text file, delimited. Data sample below

1140001074,03/06/12,0001000016,03/07/12,0412652694,1150000309
1140001074,03/06/12,0001000016,03/07/12,0412652695,1150000369

I need to import this data into a table, that is already created in sql. I'm not updating, just a simple insert.I thought the way I would do this is read the file, put that into an array, then from the array import into the table. My code below for reading the text file, and placing it into an array

Private Sub ReadtxtFile()
Dim lista As New Collections.ArrayList
Dim input As String
If File.Exists("C:filetestBol Test.txt") Then

Import Spreadsheet Data Into VB 2010 As Variables Array?

Mar 19, 2011

My basic set up is Visual Basic 2010 Express on Windows 7 64 bit What I'm trying to do is to have VB 2010 get the data from a Open Office spreadsheet. I have looked around on the general interenet and have found quite a few references to MS Excel, but none dealling with Open Office. The code samples I have tried to use seem to rely on MS Excel being installed (Which I dont have). The 'Automate excel' page (Here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/302094) naturally seems to rely on a Microsoft Excel Object Library reference that, not surprisingly, isnt there because I dont have MS Excel. Keep in mind I havent mucked around with a programming code for decades!

What I do have is Open Office 3.2, which CAN save spreadsheets in a excel format (.xls), and a few others such as .ods, .dbf and .xml (Excel 2003?).

I want to merge or import a column of data from one data table created in VB.NET to another data table's 'same-named' column. The destination data table has all the required columns created before hand but the source data table contains one column at a time, whose name is the same as that of one of the columns in destination data table.Whatever coding I have done for the same till now, results in blank rows at starting. The destination data table looks like this:And I want it to be displayed it as:

Import Directly To A Multi-dimensional Array Of Objects From SPROC?

Jun 19, 2011

I was planning on using very similar code to the following to export to excel quickly[url]...

However, the data that I'm exporting is rather large and I find it unnecessary to grab a dataset from the sproc, convert it to a multidimensional array of objects and then export to Excel. There are two main reasons this is unnecessary. 1) It takes time to transfer that data from the dataset to the array. 2) There are then two instances of the data, one in the dataset and one in the array. Therefore, I would rather directly insert the sproc results into the array of objects and bypass the dataset altogether. I can't do this unless I know how many rows I'm getting back from the sproc in order to declare the array's size beforehand. [code]...

C# - Import Data Into Database?

Mar 14, 2012

I need to import data from a file into a Microsoft SQL Server database.

The file is roughly structured (inconsistent number of fields but the data needed is available in all rows) The file can contain up to 600'000 records The first field is identifies a record

The import of the data contains updating existing records in the database with the new values or inserting a new record if the record could not be found.

What is the best approach to accomplish that?

(Reading the file line by line, executing a SELECT and UPDATE or INSERT from my .NET Application doesn't truly satisfy me, because this way it processes around 35 records per second, which leads to several hours of processing time...)

A first option might be to combine the select and update/insert commands in a stored procedure, but this would still take a lot of time.

Is there something like MySQL INSERT ... ON DUPLICATE UPDATE?

Is it possible to pass a list/array of records (multiple columns) to a stored procedure?

'Sub Insert_eFieldsReports gathers and inserts the project level data of an eFields
' xml file report into the SQL Server

Oh yeah the remarks one doesn't work either because that is an nvarchar(MAX) data type.

XML Data Import Export?

Nov 23, 2011

I am developing an application in which data will be handled offline and then fed back into the main application. Hence need the facility of Export & Import of data.I am using WriteXML to export desired data from the server database using dataset.

The data is imported back, into the Client module. During the day client may modify/insert records in the imported data. At the end of day, the client exports back the modified data and which needs to be imported back into the system's main database. Now what I want is, if new record is entered by the client then it should be inserted into the dataSet and if original record is modified during offline mode then the Original data should be updated with the new value. I think, its similar to the DataSet and Database concept i.e when dataSet is updated. But am not able to do this.

At present, if I import then all data is imported irrespective of whether the data already exist or not.And if I implement Primary Key in the dataset then for modified data it gets stuck with constraint.
