Since my VB6 days I've longed for this feature. Every time you build a version it increments by one. On VS2005/2008 I've seen a few 3rd party programs or tips and tricks to get something similiar. I mean who wants to see a version no. like 1.0.1234.5678789 I used to use autobuildversion but can't seem to get it working on 2010. Has anyone managed to get the auto increment to work in any shape or form. I can't find the AssemblyInfo.vb file to edit so my program is stuck on 1.0.0.1 unless I manually increment it? I mean is it so hard to implement a built in auto increment function, or am I missing something?
View 5 Repliesi want to create a program that pressing a button will increment an integer variable and a textbox will show the result. Te code i wrote is below:
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
dim i as integer
i = i+1
textbox1.text = i
End Sub
now, the same code works for the vb6 form but on vb 2010 the textbox just show 1 and does not increment any further.

I have a textbox where I can enter a number. If the number exists in my sql database then it would change the label accordingly. It seems to work with any input number except for numbers starting with zero. If I input a number starting with zero(012345678) I get the error: Arithmetic Overflow error converting varchar to data type numeric.

Is there any other way to sort dates or if somebody know would I loose my data if I would try to convert the column from varchar(100) to datetime now as it holds my dates or maybe it would convert ok?

Error converting data type varchar to datetime.rtfI am trying to learn ASP.NET using ASP.NET 1.1 with SQL Server 2000 for the database. I have created a Stored Procedure in SQL Server 2000 and the procedure to execute the Stored Procedure is in ASP.NET 1.1. The problem is that when I try to save a record, the date field returns the above error. I have ried to use the several solutions on the web without getting one to solve the problem.I am attaching the Stored Procedure as well as the ASP.NET code for some advice. I am also attached a word document containing the two procedures.

View 7 RepliesIm having an issue with a Stored Procedure I have written,I can call it in management studio and it works fine, yet calling it from my codebehind gives this error The conversion of a varchar data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range value. when i call da.Fill(dt)What is really puzzling me here is that I dont actually convert anything from varchar to datetime, the most I do with the date variables is format them into a different datetime format.
My VB.Net code
Private Function dbGetEvents(ByVal start As DateTime, ByVal days As Integer) As DataTable
Dim dt As New DataTable()[code].....
I cant see where this error could be coming from, having tested running it in SQL management studio without error I am pretty sure the error is in the VB.My first thought was that maybe the parameter I am passing in the @start / @end values arent being recognised as DateTime so I tried adding the parameters like:
Dim p As New SqlParameter
p.SqlDbType = SqlDbType.DateTime
p.ParameterName = "@start"[code]....
In newer editions of .Net I can pass -1 for the output size for VarChar(Max) columns, but in Visual Studio 2003 I get the following System.ArgumentException: Invalid parameter Size value '-1'. The value must be greater than or equal to 0. What should I specify as the size for a VarChar(Max) column in Visual Studio 2003?
