Im having an issue with a Stored Procedure I have written,I can call it in management studio and it works fine, yet calling it from my codebehind gives this error The conversion of a varchar data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range value. when i call da.Fill(dt)What is really puzzling me here is that I dont actually convert anything from varchar to datetime, the most I do with the date variables is format them into a different datetime format.
My VB.Net code
Private Function dbGetEvents(ByVal start As DateTime, ByVal days As Integer) As DataTable
Dim dt As New DataTable()[code].....
I cant see where this error could be coming from, having tested running it in SQL management studio without error I am pretty sure the error is in the VB.My first thought was that maybe the parameter I am passing in the @start / @end values arent being recognised as DateTime so I tried adding the parameters like:
Dim p As New SqlParameter
p.SqlDbType = SqlDbType.DateTime
p.ParameterName = "@start"[code]....
I am developing a Windows application for restoring specific databases from our Production platform to "field" tablets by using backups that are taken daily to disk. To preclude "orphaned users" on the tablets, I want to extract the "user name", "password" (hashed) and "sid".I am calling the MS Stored Procedure "revlogin" that produces screen text to copy and paste into a query to recreate those users on another SQL server instance.
IF (@denylogin = 1)
BEGIN -- login is denied access
SET @tmpstr = @tmpstr + '; DENY CONNECT SQL TO ' + QUOTENAME( @name )

I am trying to create stored procedure that gone return varchar value, and that value I need to display in textbox.This is the code for stored procedure:
Create PROCEDURE Status @id_doc int, @Name varchar(50) OUTPUT
AS
select @Name =items.name
from Doc,Items where @id_doc=IDN and doc.IDN=Items.ID
return @Name
This is the code in vb.net where i need to display returned value from procedure in textbox:
Public Sub Current()
Dim dtc As New Data.DataTable
Dim dr As SqlClient.SqlDataReader
[code]....
When I try to execute this code I get this message in exception:
"Conversion failed when converting the varchar value 'Blue color' to data type int."
Im getting that error in the da.Fill(ds)

I am trying to make a Windows Form in VS 2010 that is used to determine whether someone is entitled to a prize/medal/award whatever you want to call it. So basically if someone clicks on a check box to say they attended an event and they enter a date range between saying they attended the event between 01/01/2010 - 01/02/2010 and the requirement for the award is that they attended the event for more than 20 days then because the statement is true I would want a box to pop up and say person is entitled to receive a particular award. There are multiple awards available based on different conditions so to be eligible for so the result would be dependent upon which boxes and date ranges are selected.So For Award1 the logical argument is something along the lines of
IF Event1CheckBox = Checked AND
Attendance => 20
Result = Entitled to Receive Award1 Else = Not Entitled To Receive Award1

I'm having the following error message with a date value in production server. "The conversion of a char data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range datetime value" In the development server the problem never happened. Both production and development servers have the same OS (Windows Server 2003), updates and settings including the regional settings options. The regional options is set to Arabic (Saudi Arabia) and the date is customized to use (English) gorgerin calendar. The non-Unicode is set to Arabic (Saudi Arabia).
My solution contains an ASP.NET web application and a class library. In my class library project I'm trying to get a list of rows from the database (SQL 2005) and I'm using a date rang [Code] Is there a way that I can use to manipulate dates regardless of the regional options settings?

So i am converting a metafile (EMF to be exact) to a jpeg or gif (doesn't matter as long as it's compatible with browsers) and when I do the conversion, all of the transparent pixels turn black. I have no idea how to do this in GDI+ but here is the method I am using to save the file:
Dim Img As System.Drawing.Imaging.Metafile = New System.Drawing.Imaging.Metafile(stream)
Img.Save(Server.MapPath("/FileName.gif"), System.Drawing.Imaging.ImageFormat.Gif)
I have a string arranged in a way that would match the format yyyy-dd-MM HH:mm:ss
It might look like this 2010-20-12 13:30:00 I need to insert this into a smalldatetime column in SQL Server. The format of the column is yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss I need the string to look like this 2010-12-20 13:30:00 or else SQL Server will get the month and day confused.
I have the following code to use Words spellcheck feature on a RTB. Once you pick the correct word in the spellcheck box and press change I get the error on th efollwoing line

I tried to use CType() but still complains.
If (Len(t.Text) = 0) Then

I am posting this here because the sql query seems to be fine, it is the VB code that is the issue. I am new to VB and I have a subroutine that imports a value for the strating and ending time of a report. The error I am getting is: Conversion failed when converting the varchar value 'Aug 20 2009 12:00PM' to data type int. Here is the code for both VB and SQL:

I have a smalldatetime column in SQL that can have a null value, but when I try to insert a null value using SqlTypes.SqlDateTime.Null and LINQtoSQL it puts in 1/1/1900 instead of NULL.
What is the best method to insert a null, or am I doing it at the moment. If I am using the correct method at the moment, what should be done to prevent the 1/1/1900 being displayed on my fields in a WPF application.
I have a string value that I get from an xml-attribute. The value (string) is 14.666666666666666. I want to convert it to a double value and then get the smallest integral value, which is 14, and then convert the result back to a string value to assign it back to the attribute value.
This is my code:
p.SetAttributeValue("MyAttribute", Math.Ceiling(CDbl(TheAttributeValueAsString.Value)).ToString)

I have a form that allows users to select file and then it reads the contents, parses the data and then executes a sql insert statement to add it to a database. What I am having issues with is showing real-time results. Currently, I have the import operation take place on the import form within the OnLoad event. The problem with this is it only shows the final results instead of the results real-time. Is there anyway to do this without creating a seperate thread and delegates?

Is there any other way to sort dates or if somebody know would I loose my data if I would try to convert the column from varchar(100) to datetime now as it holds my dates or maybe it would convert ok?
