I am currently writing a code that prompts a user if they want to convert F to C or C to F, two functions with the calculations. My problem is my loop, it exits one time through and doesn't prompt again. And also doesn't display the final result.
' VB Script Document

const menuBar = "Temperature Conversion"
Dim userPrompt, prompt, Temperature, toCelcius, toFahrenheit
prompt = vbOk
Do While prompt <> ""

I'm new to visual basic and have decided to make a temperature conversion program. I've attached a screenshot to aid in my description. The program reads the temperatures on the left(from text boxes), converts them, and displays the answers on the right in text boxes. The program has a fever check at the bottom which displays whether or not the converted values are a fever.
I've managed to get this to work no problem, but I'm trying to get it so if the user enters the temperatures directly into the "result" textboxes, that the fever check still works. Unfortunately I'm having no luck, the fever check will only display a message if the values have been converted, not directly entered by the user. Here is the code I tried(fever.Text is what is displayed in a textbox above the fever check button):
Private Sub FeverCheck_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles FeverCheck.Click
'Turn string values entered into Decimal Values so they can be compared to decimal values
Dim fahrfever As Decimal
Dim Celsfever As Decimal
'The following two lines have problems when debugging

I am writing a VB.NET Windows Application which takes numeric user-input and performs a complicated calculation, yielding many numeric output variables. Previously, I wrote a similar program in VB6, which output the results to a rich text box using fixed-width font in order to organize data in columns and used asterisks to delineate table areas and section borders. I then used the printer object for printing the output. This method was very archaic and difficult to modify when changes were necessary.

So far, my friend has this, and we're trying to figure out how to get the code to tell convert F to C, and back. All we can use for input is (example:) 10,f and it will change it to 40,C.

Sub Main()
Dim number1 As Long

My question is I'm trying to let the user input the temperature number and the temperature type at the same time and the program will convert the temperature as instructed
But when I run the program and I type in for example 5,c I get an overflow error but if I just type 5 then it just converts.I'm trying to get the letter to work and not overflow.For example I want the user to have a choice of either typing in a number,f or number,c.
i am creating a temperature conversion tool with vb 2010. i am trying to use radio buttons to choose the type of temperature that i am converting to and from.

Recently ive been experiencing someproblems playing minecraft on my toshiba qosmio x500, because of the high ram and cpu useage, my laptop gets very hot very fast, simply turning off due to overheating after maybe 20 minutes, if i am not rasing it off the desk, in which case, i must be careful as the fans are often blocked by whatever i am leaning the laptop against, otherwise if positioned carefully, i get cpu heat at a constant 90% or so,100% being when the computer overheats and turns off.[code]...
finding out how to get the cpu temperature?

I'm attempting the following code to calculate how many quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies a user should get as change, and display them in four labels, when buying an item from a machine. The user inserts the amount paid and the cost of the item in two textboxes.My code is as follows:

I am trying to a create a program that converts a Fahrenheit temperature to a Celsius temperature and vise versa. My form consists of three command buttons(Compute, clear, quit), two radiobuttons where you choose whether you want the entered temperatures to be converted from fahrenheit to celsius or celsius to fahrenheit, three text boxes(start value, stop value, increment), and a list box that displays the information. My problem is that the program needs to limit the conversions to 20 per computation. The program must verify that the range of values and increment will not generate more than 20 lines before any calculations are performed. I need a way to check whether more than 20 lines will be put into the list box before anything is actually put into the list box.
My current code is below.

I can't understand how it happen. But this first code is working but the second code it did not work (but it is 100 % same code I just change it to the table name). I can't display the data result into DATAVIEW in post # 2, in post # 1 work perfect..
The database are:
Local: access 2003
Server: MySQL server
Post # 1 - Working
Private Sub TSRUpload()
If (Me.Ping.Send("PH180", 500).Status) = Net.NetworkInformation.IPStatus.Success Then

I am building an application that will run through various tasks like database backup, zipping some other files and so on.I have the progress bar figured out for each individual task and I have all my tasks working.I am trying to build an interface to display to the user to show them the progress of the entire run.I was thinking like a list box or other object where I could put a green checkbox image or red x image as each tasks runs and is a success or failure.
View 1 Repliesi'm working with a sql (2005) database and using visual studio 2010. I've created a system where one of the forms is a find/search form. A user can enter in for example, a customerID and once they click on "find/search" the customerID will be searched in the database and if found, all relevant information about the customer will be retrieved and displayed in another form (find/search results page). I realise that this can be done using an SQL statement like follows
searchStr = "SELECT * FROM Customer WHERE CustomerID LIKE CIDTextBox.Text%"
What i'm unsure about is how to execute this SQL statement once the "find/search" button has been clicked and how to display the founded results in another form.
So I have coded connection to database and query but when I push button nothing happens. So my question is how can I fix that Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click

I have to write a program that allows a user to input DVD info such as DVD Name, Year produced, Running Time, and Rating. The user then clicks a menu item "New" to save that info to a file. Then the next time the user inputs new DVD info it has to append the new data to the same file. (I got this far and everything is working writing and appending data)Next the year has to be able to search by DVD Video name and it has to print the info in the text boxes on the form, if not found then a messagebox should say not found. When I use the sub procedure that I have created to search the record it always comes back as record not found although the record in in the file.

The assignment called for a VB.Net (not web based) program that would accept user input for the loan amount, interest rate, and term of loan, and display the monthly payment of the loan then list the loan balance and interest paid over the term of the loan. the list will be longer than the screen so use loops to display a partial list, hesitate, and then display more of the list. So, I did exactly that and the program works fine. However, after submitting this program for grading, The instructor for the class tells me, "One thing you should work on is not using a timer to pause.
You should not use a scroll bar either." He says I should work on loading the results into an array or use a loop with a counter that can be used to display a given number of results with a more results button for displaying more (but without a scroll bar?). Like I said, this program works fine and I am not asking anyone for any specific code (some sort of example would be great but not necessary) What I am asking for is an explanation of how I would go about loading results into an array to be used for displaying just partial results at a time in some way other than I used here: [Code]
I have a listbox displaying sql results in a loop. Let's say I want to select one of those results and click a delete button. I have the button and box setup displaying the results just fine, I just do not have the functionality. How would I do that?

View 2 RepliesI had done this by using the query builder (in VS Studio) but soon found out thay I gain no points by doing it this way as I am not using any code. I have tried to adapt the code I had to insert data into my database, just changing the SQL sintaxa and some other bits, but it is not working yet. Well, it gives results, but I think it is still geting the results from the query I had built using the query builder. Here is the code I've got so far:
Public Class Form2
Private Sub btn_search_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btn_search.Click
Dim str_search As String = txt_search.Text
Dim str_dob As String = txt_dob.Text

So i am converting a metafile (EMF to be exact) to a jpeg or gif (doesn't matter as long as it's compatible with browsers) and when I do the conversion, all of the transparent pixels turn black. I have no idea how to do this in GDI+ but here is the method I am using to save the file:
Dim Img As System.Drawing.Imaging.Metafile = New System.Drawing.Imaging.Metafile(stream)
Img.Save(Server.MapPath("/FileName.gif"), System.Drawing.Imaging.ImageFormat.Gif)
I am currently having a headache on how to solve this problem that i am facing.here is the situation:I have a combobox and a list box on the main form. The combobox will get the data from the ms access database.In the database, i have the details of a person's IC, Name and DOB say for eg on one entry I have D215311523C,SHAWN,13/04/1987
So now, my combobox on form load will show the list of dates in the database to allow the user to search base on the date itself by clicking on the selected date. So when the user clicks on the particular date say 13/04/1987, people in the database whose birthday is 13/04/1987 will be shown on the listbox.Meaning to say if i have 3 entries whose dates are the same 13/04/1987, 3 entries will appear. If there is only two entry, then two results will be shown.

I have a string value that I get from an xml-attribute. The value (string) is 14.666666666666666. I want to convert it to a double value and then get the smallest integral value, which is 14, and then convert the result back to a string value to assign it back to the attribute value.
This is my code:
p.SetAttributeValue("MyAttribute", Math.Ceiling(CDbl(TheAttributeValueAsString.Value)).ToString)
I am trying to make a list, separated by a comma, of entries from a single column in a SQL database. I have been spending the last several days searching for a way to do this, but every thing I found either didn't work, or wasn't exactly what I was looking for.
The query will pull all the email address that are not null. What I need to know is how to take the result of that query and make it look like this:
email0@address.com, email1@address.com, email2@address.com, etc, etc, ...
I feel like I should know this, but for the life of me, I can't remember nor can I find it in any of the textbooks I have.
I am using Visual Basic 2010 and SQL Server 2005. I also have access to Visual Basic 2005 if needed.
I have a datagridview on a form and a print button below it...i want that when i click the print button the print dialog should appear and the datagrid results should be printed.
