View 2 RepliesRecently ive been experiencing someproblems playing minecraft on my toshiba qosmio x500, because of the high ram and cpu useage, my laptop gets very hot very fast, simply turning off due to overheating after maybe 20 minutes, if i am not rasing it off the desk, in which case, i must be careful as the fans are often blocked by whatever i am leaning the laptop against, otherwise if positioned carefully, i get cpu heat at a constant 90% or so,100% being when the computer overheats and turns off.[code]...
finding out how to get the cpu temperature?
I am trying to a create a program that converts a Fahrenheit temperature to a Celsius temperature and vise versa. My form consists of three command buttons(Compute, clear, quit), two radiobuttons where you choose whether you want the entered temperatures to be converted from fahrenheit to celsius or celsius to fahrenheit, three text boxes(start value, stop value, increment), and a list box that displays the information. My problem is that the program needs to limit the conversions to 20 per computation. The program must verify that the range of values and increment will not generate more than 20 lines before any calculations are performed. I need a way to check whether more than 20 lines will be put into the list box before anything is actually put into the list box.
My current code is below.

I need to make two programs and i have a hard time doing them my first program is: Calculate the value between 0 & 180 degrees that makes the function sinx = x my second program is: calculate sinx with taylor formula, x=0 ill wait for answer

I'm relatively new to VB, started a programing course in Uni recently What I'm looking to do is to add the following formulae into the program.

I am having trouble displaying my results from a temperature conversion program. I am sure it is something simple that I have overlooked. Here is the code.
[Code]...
I'm new to visual basic and have decided to make a temperature conversion program. I've attached a screenshot to aid in my description. The program reads the temperatures on the left(from text boxes), converts them, and displays the answers on the right in text boxes. The program has a fever check at the bottom which displays whether or not the converted values are a fever.
I've managed to get this to work no problem, but I'm trying to get it so if the user enters the temperatures directly into the "result" textboxes, that the fever check still works. Unfortunately I'm having no luck, the fever check will only display a message if the values have been converted, not directly entered by the user. Here is the code I tried(fever.Text is what is displayed in a textbox above the fever check button):
Private Sub FeverCheck_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles FeverCheck.Click
'Turn string values entered into Decimal Values so they can be compared to decimal values
Dim fahrfever As Decimal
Dim Celsfever As Decimal
'The following two lines have problems when debugging

View 1 RepliesI am trying to simulate human temperature taking. Basic i just need a button, a text box , a progress bar and a timer.What I want to do is that when the button is clicked, the progress bar will slowly increment and after it reaches maximum, a random number in the range 35-40 will be generated in the text box.Now so far, this is what I`ve done:
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
Timer1.Start()
Dim r As New Random
[code]....
So the progress bar is working fine. The random number generator too. But here are my problems:
1-Once the button is click, the number is generated. I would like that to happen after the progress bar reaches maximum.
2-So this is suppose to be a temperature gadget for kids and therefore when a certain amount of temperature is reached...an alarm is sent to the parents. How do I generate a dialog box (to acknowledge an alarm was sent) in case the temperature exceeds say 38? The dialog box should close after some 5 seconds. If possible, in case of such excess, the button color should turn to red or otherwise(no excess) blue.

View 4 RepliesI've managed to narrow down my issue to a simple annoyance. I had a Webbrowser control mostly coded to navigate around an Oracle CRM On Demand site to generate metric reports, but then realized when I tried to build in the auto-download part, that the Webbrowser object wasn't going to give me the behind-the-scenes control I wanted. Searching online, it seems the Webclient control might be a better route. However I'm stuck trying to get by the login page so I can use the Download-File method to get my generated xls report. [Code] But every reply from the server has "Sign In Error: Both a user sign in ID and a password must be given." which tells me the form/post data isn't getting where it needs to go (It thinks the form is blank at [Code].
The above username and password are bogus of course, but once I can get a different reply then 'the fields are blank' I can worry about correct logon information. I'm just not sure what I'm not doing correctly or if I need to include something else. Since it's a publicly accessible site and I'm stuck getting something in the form to be 'seen', it should be easy for others to try and test.
I'm doing lessons from a book on VB Express. My problem is a wierd key character.Dim db?Var As Double?= what looks like an "L" flipped 180 degrees. what is it?

Public Class Form1
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
TextBox4.Text = TextBox1.Text + (TextBox2.Text * 1 / 60) + (TextBox3.Text * 1 / 60 * 1 / 60)
End Sub
End Class

Textbox2 - Minutes

View 2 RepliesI'm having a weird behaviour with a left-aligned TabControl in VB.NET. Screenshot:
What I wanted was to have the tabs literally the same way they would be if rotated 90 degrees to the left. Does it have something to do with the fact I'm not (god forbid) using the standard XP theme? Any solution to just make it work? (Even if it's hard, but I don't want a control that has a contrasting style, I want the program looking consistent)

View 11 RepliesCreate a function named DecimalDegrees to refactor the code that converts a latitude or longitude into a value in decimal degrees. (This function will be used inside the functions ValueOf and Distance.)
Task 2a: Write the code for the function DecimalDegrees with an input parameter for DegreeString as type string, and returns the value as type Double.
Here is my code for the function part
Private Function DecimalDegrees(ByVal DegreeString As String, ByVal degrees As Double, ByVal minutes As Double,
ByVal seconds As Double, ByVal ID As Integer) As Double
I am having difficulties with the 2nd part which is I believe to take the code for the calc1 and calc2 buttons and somehow get it to convert to decimal degrees by the function I have created. The buttons would then be removed as the code would automatically take the latitude and longitude and convert the degrees, minutes and seconds into a decimal.
Here is the code for the current buttons:
Dim StartPtr, StopPtr As Integer
'To Replace Calculator 1 Button
'Convert degrees before passing argument - Latitude
StartPtr = 0
