Im working on a project that needs to print a report of one client.Everything went smooth untill i came across my multiline input text data.When i display it in the PrintPagePreview the text go's outside my page. Even when im printing it only the halve of my text is displayed. I googled and looked everywhere but i can't get a clear fix for it.

View 2 RepliesI'm making a class to basically print the screen. I'm going through each field and doing a drawstring, but things aren't lining up correctly. I tracked the problem down and don't know why it's happening.Take this line of code as an example:
Me.CreateGraphics.DrawString(Label1.Text, Label1.Font, Brushes.Black, Label1.Left, Label1.Top + 30)
This should draw the same text that is in label1 directly below label1 on the form. However, the drawn text is a different length than the label's text. Courier draws shorter, Sans Serif draws longer. It's doing the same thing going to a print document; it isn't matching how the label is being rendered.
Is there a transformation function that can be applied to the Graphics.DrawString to output text on an angle?
View 1 RepliesI have an existing vb.net application which uses a home grown database. The database has over 60,000 unique multi-field records in it.The user can search in each field using drill-down to find a record, and then can add that record to a separate database.(60,000 collectibles described in a master database. User can drill down by category, manufacturer, year produced, etc. to find a record and then add it to their own 'collection', 'wanted', 'have for sale', or 'spares' database for record keeping.)
Instead of having them drill down, I would like for them to be able to perform a search and have all of the results (any amount of matches from 1 to 60,000+) appear on a scrolling form with a checkbox next to each so that they can simply check any that they want and do a mass add to their list databases.
The part I cannot figure out is how to have vb.net (2008) create a variable length scrolling form with the results, and how to identify the checkboxes (generated by the system for search matches) to see which, if any, have been checked by the user.
I used to program with Visual Basic 6, so I have alot of old programs that I'm updating, plus I'm learning the new VB2008 methods. I'm writing a program that replaces the old "BitBlit" function which is no longer supported by Visual Basic 2008. It involves three picture boxes, one holds the sprite bitmap, a second holds the mask (silhouette) of the sprite bitmap, and a third has a background image.

So, basically, I need two instances of that class in my form, right?I manage to initialize two, alright. View 1 RepliesSo I decided to make my famous tile selector project, but instead of drawing in a form's graphics, do it inside a tabpage.Well, I managed to get it working, but it seems to... flicker.Normally, setting the form's DoubleBuffered property to True would help a lot there, but apparently, the tabpage has no such property.
When I invalidate the tabpage, I draw two images and fill one rectangle.Following past advice, those two images were created before, just once, and are stored in a variable so I don't create them every time I invalidate the tabpage.

If I put my DrawObjects() sub into picturebox paint event.When ever a picturebox.refresh or picturebox.visible = true (vb.net seems to draw my DrawObjects() first, then load the jpeg Image over my drawing - erasing drawing) Is there a way to get the picturebox to redraw the jpg image first then draw on it, in picturebox paint event?

View 7 RepliesI am using the e.graphics.drawstring to print labels and textboxes. One of the labels is "#". Whenever I print, although it is centered in its label on the screen, the text in the label aligns to the left. Is there a way to get it to center? This is happening with all my textboxes and labels.

I was unhappy with the kerning in one of the installed fonts on my system, so I re-defined the kerning in a font editor and installed the revised font (under a new name) on my system. When I use the new font in Microsoft Word or Adobe Photoshop, my new kerning works fine - but when I use Drawstring in a VB program, although the new font is used, the kerning instructions are ignored.Does anyone know if this a feature of the Graphics.Drawstring method, or am I failing to set a switch somewhere? If it's a feature, is there another method which kerns correctly?

I am trying to use DrawString to write text as an image and then rotate it 90 degrees. It works fine with both a bitmap or directly on a PictureBox, but the big difference is in the quality. The PictureBox text drawn has great quality and looks nice. When I draw it on an image it looks horrible and blocky. I've made a few changes to try and get it to look nicer, but it doesn't look nearly as nice as it should.

Both of them are images to scale. View 4 RepliesI'm trying to make a .dll that contains a lot of basic functionality that a program can use. Currently i am trying to use interfaces to make a lot of this functionallity independend of the program using it but i hit a snag. The Basic idea is that a programmer will create his own object using the interface discribed in my .DLL file. Then implements those functions as he likes. He can then instanciate a controller (found in the same DLL) and sends his custom object implementing the interface to that Controller. The controller can then be started and will take over all the work. I do not know what type of object is send to the controller and idealy i want to program it in such a fashion that i shouldn't care as long as the object send implements that interface.In code I am trying to achieve the following: (quite simplyfied)

this propperly. I know that the second i set the interface adaptor in the Controller VS comes nagging that it can not be converted to a "MyInterface" Class. Obviously i am doing something wrong. I can change the datatype that the controller expects to the "MyController" type but that would completely ruin the whole idea of flexibillity. I am hoping someone sees what i am trying to do and can point out where i made the thinking error.
Is this where i would post a picture of my interface and get feedback on changes for easier use? If not is there someplace on this forum or any other forum to do this?

I need to know the exact length (well, not *exact* but knowing it is around +/- 1px from exact length would be nice) of the curve drawn.
Is there any function in API I could use to get what I want? If not, could you point me to the algorithm (preferably implemented in any language) that I could use with array of points as an input and length as an output value?
I'm a VB beginner.I've been playing with Graphics.DrawString by watermarking a picture with a text string. The picture below to the left comes from PictureBox with a text string drawn with Graphics.DrawString. The font style used is Arial 48 points, regular, I think. The picture in PictureBox shows just as I configure. Great... The resolution of the original Terri Hatcher picture is 300 dpi (300 x 300). Exporting this picture with Graphics.DrawString, I get the picture below to the right. The text string appears a lot bigger than previously shown in PictureBox. It turns out that the text size varies, depending on the resolution of the original picture. That's kind of odd. I develop several graphics applications in a different environment and have never seen this sort of graphics.drawstring thing. Anyway,

I know how to print a document from a file and a picture(Graphic) from a file but how do I print a current page of a Windows form I have developed. I.E. from my bank I get my statment by printing the page from a Print Page button. I tried codes I know but in my program it prints a blank Page.
