I've got an asp:TextArea that I would like to do some processing (filtering a list) as the user types. I'm sure I could do the filtering within a javascript function called via the onkeyup event, but I'd prefer to do it in my VB.NET code.Is it possible to do such a thing, or should I just stick with the Javascript? If the latter, could you please explain why?
I have two textboxes on separate ajax tab panels. I was trying to setup a javascript onkeyup attribute to set the value of textbox1 to textbox2 or vice versa depending on which they typed in. If the textboxes are not on the tab panels then it works just fine but I cannot get it to work when the two textboxes are on separate tab panels. Here is what works outside the tab panels.
Public Function AddOnkeyAttributesControl(ByVal ctrl1 As TextBox, ByVal ctrl2 As TextBox) ctrl1.Attributes.Add("onkeyup", "javascript:form1." & ctrl2.ID & ".value=form1." & ctrl1.ID & ".value") ctrl2.Attributes.Add("onkeyup", "javascript:form1." & ctrl1.ID & ".value=form1." & ctrl2.ID & ".value") End Function I just call this function with the two I want to link as I said it works outside the ajax tab panels but not on the tab panels. i am sure it is something to do with the way that the tabs are rendered but i don't know where to start.
If I use a textbox I have no issues getting data into sql. I'd like to use a textarea with autowrap and all that. But when I change the <input type="text" id="au_id"> to <textarea name="au_id"> I can't get the .value of au_id.Value code listed below. All I want is to swap single line text box for multiline textarea and still onclick get my lines posted in sql. Some of the names/id's make no sense for what they go to, I copied most of the code from Microsoft's site, and making changes as I go.
That's the source code I get through the browser but the textArea is still editable in the browser. There is no javascript modifying myTxtA, and the only other reference to myTxtA in my codeFile is the following :
If somethingNotHappeningHere Then myTxtA.ReadOnly = True End If
I can't see why my textarea is still editable. Can the class of the div containing the textArea modify its behaviour ?
PS: I am not concerned about if the data is sent or not. I'm just looking for the textArea to be uneditable.
Edit: Same problem on IE7 and Firefox 3.5
Edit 2: When I copy all the html source from my browser into a new html file the textarea is properly disabled...
I know this sounds like a simple thing but I have searched and all examples have not helped. I have been unable to update the textarea at I have gotten the code to work at other sites though.So specifically I want to update the "post a new thread" textarea. If you go toand then signup (you need an account to post a new thread). Then go to any forum and click "NewThread".I then can update the subject field but the textarea (name="message") does not update with the value. I am not sure why it doesn't work when I have got this working on a lot of other sites.

I have several <asp:TextBox TextMode="MultiLine"> elements on a page. On load, I populate them (through the VB code behind), and then turn them into TinyMCE editors (through the Query TinyMCE plugin). Each text box also has a button associated with it, with the purpose of submitting the text back to the code behind for insertion into a database.I discovered earlier that when the submit button is clicked, I have to "save" the contents of the editor to the text box, but that is not my problem. Even after I've done so, the edits are not showing up in the code behind.As I've mentioned, I'm using jQuery. Here is my click handler. Keep in mind that all buttons are submit buttons in ASP.NET, hence the submit class:
I have the HTML (I think its javascript) code below that is from the webapge.
I want to pass something from my textarea on my form, to the text area on the webpage, and then pres the submit button the webpage.
I cant seem to find a control that locates the textarea or button..
Here is html:
<textarea id="c4ca7d536c32ca4b6ea674_input" class="UIComposer_TextArea DOMControl_placeholder" name="status" onfocus="CSS.addClass("c4ca7d536c32ca4b6ea674", "UIComposer_STATE_INPUT_FOCUSED"CSS.removeClass("c4ca7d536c32ca4b6ea674", "hide_buttons"window.UIComposer && UIComposer.focusInstance("c4ca7d536c32ca4b6ea674"" title="What's on your mind?" placeholder="What's on your mind?">What's on your mind?
I know that AndAlso is equivalent to && and OrElse is equivalent to ||. But what is the cleanest way to achieve the equivalent of Visual Basic's And and Or in C#?For example, consider the following VB.NET code.The ValidateForControl method performs some validation and returns whether the state of the specified control is valid. The entire input form is valid if all controls are valid. However, each control must be individually validated even if one is invalid (which requires the operator not to short-circuit). Visual Basic's And operator is perfect for this situation, but unfortunately there's no equivalent operator in C# as far as I know (&& short-circuits).
What I am trying to do is to check if a value matches one of two numbers (and easily be able to add to the numbers to compare to). Rather than doing a longer-winded way such as: [Code] I have found that this only works when SectionID is 2 or PageID is 8. If SectionID is 3 or PageID is 12 then it doesn't work. Why is this and what can I do to try to get around the problem?
I'm normally at home in C#, and I'm looking at a performance issue in some VB.Net code -- I want to be able to compare something to the default value for a type (kind like C#'s default keyword).
I am relatively new to Visual Basic. When it comes to logging, in Java I use log4j for logging.What is the equivalent in Visual Basic and can you please guide me to a good tutorial?
I've got a large codebase which I'd like to expose to plugin authors to allow them to use VB.Net Express to code plugins for a server app, which is not available to them. My problem is that even with obfuscation, I'd rather not distribute the complete app and/or dlls, as even with obfuscation peeling apart a .NET assembly and puzzling out code is relatively easy to do. I'm interested in this because the licensor I obtain the code from requires me to protect IP and assets and while distributing .NET apps opens up the app to disassembly, keeping the server app private and allowing users to utilize a skeleton dll to code against is a happy medium.
What I'm looking for is some way or a utility to go through my server app source code and create a codeless version of the app which only contains method and property signatures.The intent is to provide a stub .NET dll for them to add as a reference and code against as if they were directly interacting with the server, without actually providing the server code to them, compiled or not. I can of course do this by hand but there are over 90 classes and hundreds of thousands of lines of code I'd rather not spend a week hand tweaking. Also, this presents a problem whenever new methods or code are added to the project. Finally, two separate projects is an even worse scenario.Because people will post suggestions that have little or nothing to do with the question, here's a short, clear example. I want to turn this class:
Public Class MyServer Public ReadOnly Property Name() As String Get Return "Whatever"
What is the vb.net expression of this c# expression ?
Frame.GetController<ShowNavigationItemController>().CustomShowNavigationItem += new EventHandler<CustomShowNavigationItemEventArgs>(WindowController1_CustomShowNavigationItem);
I'm looking at some old ASP code that contains the following:
Set objDSE = GetObject("LDAP://RootDSE") Set objSysInfo = CreateObject("adsysteminfo") Set objUser= Getobject("LDAP://" & Replace(objSysInfo.UserName,"/","/")) dtmValue = objUser.PasswordLastChanged
[code]....
This is for an intranet app that uses integrated authentication. Is there a replacement for the ASP adsysteinfo object? I can probably port most of the LDAP calls using System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntry, but is there a better/easier way to do this in ASP.NET (VB.Net or C#)? how to convert the ASP object properties to DirectoryEntry properties?
I have made an application in vb6 abd now trying to do the same in visual studio 2005. In vb6 i was using MSFlexgrid and its .Textmatrix properties. Would like to know what is the .Texmatrix equivalent for .net. When i pasted the code form vb6 i get the following error...
'TextMatrix' is not a member of 'AxMSFlexGridLib.AxMSFlexGrid'
