Isolation Level Not Working - Connecting To A SQL 2008 DB
May 3, 2011
I have a VB.net CF app connecting to a SQL 2008 server. I'm trying to implement transactions but when i break my code at the start of a transaction certain read queries cannot be done on the table. For instance selecting all records from the table where id <> 123 Won't return any values. But select * from stock will return all values except for the row I'm working on.
I have a VB DLL, and i need to use it in VB.Net project , so that, in order to use this DLL in both projects without interfering each other, i have to make it's property "ISOLATED = TRUE" , but when I set this property
I am making a windows service that will communicate with a local application through named pipes, and with a server through WCF webservice. So the application hosts the WCF service for the local application, and is a client for the webservices. When trying to run this as a service, the whole thing crashes. I have localized the problem to the "Session 0 Isolation" issue?
If two-way interaction is required, use Windows Communication Foundation (WCF), .NET remoting, named pipes, or any other interprocess communication (IPC) mechanism (excluding window messages) to communicate across sessions. WCF and Remoting have a better security enforcement that will prompt the user (assuming UAC not shut-off) to elevate if needed. But I am not sure what they meen. As far as I know, i cannot create a windows service as WCF.
I have a VB DLL, and i need to use it in VB.Net project , so that, in order to use this DLL in both projects without interfering each other, i have to make it's property "ISOLATED = TRUE" , but when I set this property to TRUE , the following ERROR appeared
Problem isolating COM reference 'HMS_Server': Registry key 'HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTCLSID{821ee06b-d656-4c63-ad24-0f4e5b916a8b}InProcServer32' is missing value '(Default)'. HMS_WF3
I am creating an Excel add-in written in VB.NET. I would like to bind KeyDown and KeyUp events to the spreadsheet to record when the user presses and releases the arrow keys while navigating the spreadsheetIdeally, these events would be built into Excel alongside the native SheetActivate and SheetSelectionChange events, for example. Alas, they are not.
I have created a simple program which uses a two tier structure of SQL Tables. At the top level, one record holds the date of the activities and linked to it using its primary key as a foreign key, three subordinate tables hold time stamped records. The issue I have been unable to solve is that before adding any of the lower level records for a given date, a newly added top level record must be saved to the database.Doing this manually is simple - but can I rely on my users to remember to do this before they start plugging in the lower level data?I thought not, so I am looking to save the top level automatically.I've failed miserably but I refuse to believe that it's not possible.
I have multiple level of For Each and in each level, i have a Linq that is the 'In' criteria as in:
[Code]....
It will go inside each for (because the value is not nothing), however, it will only loop (next) in the very inner 'For Each t In tFor'. After it is finish inner loops, the outer Fors' or Next will not execute... even thought there are more than one values in that 'In'... like 'sFor' or 'fFor'. i've noticed while debuging, while break at the for (for example 'sFor', before stepping in), i get the error message:
"Enumeration yielded no results" when i expand the result for that variable and it will not step into it. but if i do not expand the result, it will step in. It seem that some how, once an element is accessed for that 'In' collection, it breaks (meaning does not loop for the rest of the elements) the next for that collection is this a bug or am i missing something in Linq? BTW: i believe it has something to do with the SqlDataReader in the Linq. I'm working with IAsyncResult.
I want the module to execute first before anything else, and so I call module.main() from the MyApplication startup event. At about the point that program execution gets to the beginning of module-level declarations in the module, it also starts running though the class-level declarations in the thread classes, but long before the threads are declared or the threads are started in the module code. I can't figure out why it happens! Is there some way of supressing that until later (i.e when those classes are actually instantiated)?
On my main application i have a button which shows an "advanced options" form, if the "debug" is checked i was trying to enable/disable visability of a couple of text boxes on the applications main screen but when i tried:
It appears that my favorite thing in the world is tackling projects that are beyond my current knowledge and abilities. I have a little project that I am working on which is a simple image viewer stocked with (upon completion) your standard Load..., Next/Previous, Zoom In/Out, Actual Size, and Full Screen capabilities. However, I am running into a few snags:
(1) I've been able to get my "Load..." button to display a file dialog box, but I cannot seem to get a working filter (with which only image file types are allowed to be selected) in working order.
(2) I have a PictureBox object (entitled PictureBox1) that displays the image selected via the file dialog box, but it loads images in their full size (1:1/100% zoomed) state without scrollbars, etc. to allow me to navigate the loaded image. I would like to have it load the image, initially, to fit within the dimensions of PictureBox1 and from there be able to zoom in/out via my "Zoom In/Out" and "Actual Size" buttons and be able to scroll if the zoom level is beyond the dimensions of PictureBox1.
(3) It dawned on me that I haven't the faintest idea how to get my "Next/Previous" buttons to allow the user (me) to navigate, in succession, the images contained in the folder in which the currently loaded image is stored. [code]

I want to create a log in that allow the user to select different level of access when there using the program. Ok here is how I want it to be the user must select either user or admin, along with typing in there password and username, but I'm a bit confuse in putting the coding together.
been banging my head on this, i need to get the applications path, then go up 1 folder then into another. As i have a main app and sub apps.
So were Application.StartupPath()is for example:"C: Main app folderSub app folder"How do i then go up a folder to"C: Main app folder"I Know it needs some string removal using on it but i can seem to get it right, after which i could then use Application.StartupPath() 'string removal here" & " ools"to navigate to another sub apps folder etc.
As mention in another thread ( if you have came across it --> Getting voltage from RS232 & allow dial voltmeter to point according to voltage level ), my circuit board is connected to solar cell and also a power supply(those laboratory DC power supply used in schools) and its connected to the computer via a RS232 Serial cable port. Thru the serial cable port, a voltage level is sensed and is displayed on the "Voltage Level in Volts(V)" -- See attach imageAs for now, i am also needed to display the voltage level into another type form intead of just Dial Voltmeter.Maybe to display the voltage level to a waveform like what we see on the oscilloscope ? I came across a suggestion from someone regarding the oscilloscope, but its in C# instead, and after converting, the codes does not work.
Does anybody know where to find a toolbox for Visual Basic 2005 or 2008 that allow to create level, button, display or other special box used on a bridge of a ship? I want to simulate a small bridge of a ship and I need something that allow me to display engine power, rotation speed, level of pressure, compass and so on.
I have a button ad a list box, the button when clicked lets the user select a directory on the HDD, and then the app is meant to list all the sub directory's of that folder int he list box. However I cant seem to get it to list just the sub directory names, not the full paths, and also to only scan by 1 folder deep (selected foldersub folder).
I am working with an ArrayList of ArrayLists. Every time I add a new ArrayList to the main AL, it replaces all previously added ALs with the new one. Here's an example
Dim al As New ArrayList Dim al2 As New ArrayList Dim list() As String = {"one", "two", "three"}
[code].....
I would expect the Final line should be "Final: one, two, three" but that is not the case. And if I pause and check my ArrayList (al), it shows 3 items, that all have "three" in every spot which is what the last AL I added looked like.
I was just wondering if a computer would add two numbers together (positive) faster that comparing two numbers.
I was thinking that it would be comparison (best case) due to the fact that the 0th bits could be different right off the bat. Where as when adding, moving from bit 0 to N is mandatory for addition.
But then again a computer may add/compare differently than I am imagining.
There are samples of Runtime copying things, But what I want to do is: Copying a panel formed in the desining level (with the controls on it)The name of the panel formed on Form1 is PanelTaslak:Dim Panel1 as Object Panel1=PanelTaslak.Copy such a description
Panel1=PanelTaslak is considered as when I write Panel1=PanelTaslak Panel1 takes the place of PanelTaslak But I want to get its copy
It is times like these that I miss the old VB6 language I wish I could hide the current forn and show another form which - this is the important thing - to be on the same level that the previous form was . You see , I used to use this code :
Me.Hide Form2.Show However , sometimes in VB .NET this does not work the way I want it to . You see , the current form does get hidden and Form2 is shown indeed ; however , Form2 is shown somewhere in the background . If there are other programs opened at that time , then Form2 is shown behind all those programs , that's what I mean by saying I want it to be shown in the same level as the previous form was the only way out , I found , was to reverse the code :
Form2.Show Me.Hide In this way Form2 is successfully shown right where the previous form was shown (above the other programs) but in some cases this also is not pleasant because it might take some time for Form2 to load while at the same time the previous form is still visible on the screen and therefore for a slight time both forms are shown one over the other , which is surely not nice . That's why I still want to first hide the first form and later show Form2 .
Im using VB 2008 and SQL Server 2008 as its database. But i have encountered this error in connecting to my database. An Expected error has occurred. Error Message: Count not load type [Code] What's seems to be the problem? or what this error message means.

I have installed Visual Basic 2008 express edition, but I didn't get SQL server. Therefore, I installed SQL server 2008 separately, and it works fine..But I want to use the SQL server in Visual Basic, but it doesn't show up when i click Add New Item. Is there some way of connecting VB to SQL server?
i want to make a program that connects to MYSQL and interacts with it (using VB 2008).For Example: i make a program that connects to the database and edits a few things like Row 2 , Colum 5 = 2 for example?
