I have to use key down event on text box. Code for the event looks like this:
Private Sub TextBox1_Keydown(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As
System.Windows.Forms.KeyEventArgs) Handles textBox1.KeyDown
If e.KeyCode = keys.Enter Then
I'm Making a Simple syntax highlighter and I'm Doing the highlighting in the text Changed event of a RTB and for obvious reasons I can't re highlight the whole document each time someone presses a key so i highlight one line each time the text changes. But this creates a Problem. If someone pastes code into the RichTextBox It only highlights the last Line. So is there a way to get if the user typed the text in with his keyboard or pasted it from the clipboard in the text Changed event?
i am working on read line by line . At each line that my app read , i added a event . How do i read a text file till the end and Stop it? there is how it work :
I've read thru Iceplug's tutorial on control arrays and got it working. I tried to add a new event by basically copying his click event code and calling it a doubleclick event. I used the proper addhandler and assigned the correct name to my sub. I have the click event changing the background color to blue and the doubleclick event changing the background color to green. The background color does not change to green. Why?
Heres the tutorial with my new code encased in asterisks ...
I have worked with VB.NET two years back. I have lost little touch with that and trying to get back.I have to use key down event on text box in VB form. The code for the event looks like this: Private Sub TextBox1_Keydown(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.KeyEventArgs) Handles textBox1.KeyDown If e.KeyCode = keys.Enter Then MessageBox.Show("Hello")End If End Sub I am using sharp development open source IDE.I am getting the following error while buildingHandles clause requires a WithEvents variable defined in the containing type or one of its base types.
when tried to declare like this private withevents textBox1 as textbox The following error comes:'textBox1' is already declared as 'Private WithEvents textBox1 As System.Windows.Forms.TextBox' in this class. (BC30260)
I am using VB.NET for Windows applications. What is the difference between Load event,Activate event and Enter event in the Form and in which order the above event is executed.
I'm trying to validate a few things in a form I'm building. It has a datagrid with clients info (taken from an access database) and a few textboxes where the user can type some search criteria. The thing is that those same textboxes are used to add new clients to the database and to modify a client's information if one from the datagrid is selected, so I made it that the buttons to insert and modify clients are disabled on load and thenevery time the text on a textbox changes ("TextChanged" event) they become enabled. So far so good. But then I wanted to make it so when a client from the datagrid is selected both buttons become disabled again until the text on a textbox changes (to make sure they're adding a different client and not the same one that was selected).
I tried using the CellClick event from the datagrid to disable the buttons, but since every time a client is selected from the datagrid the info is shown on the textboxes, this triggers the TextChanged event too, and the buttons become available. So, is there a way I can tell the TextChanged event not to be triggered when the CellClick event occurs?
My ComboBox's Items have 2 parts, code and content. I want to set code part to the comboBox's Text property.
I've set so that when I select an Item, only the code part of that Item is displayed in the comboBox. But when I click the DropDown button, the whole Item's text(code part and content part) is displayed in the comboBox.
Can I set the comboBox's Text when the DropDown button is click?
i am trying to allow a user to press enter in a text box to trigger a text change of an object...
1. say u put 2 in a text box called "Number" and
2. when you press enter,
3. another object named "penbutton" to change it's text, that u can see on the picture to "write"..
4. originally the book will have the text "Start" on it
do i changed the "number text box" enter event ? how do i do this? This is what i have so far
Private Sub xNumberTextBox_Enter(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles xNumberTextBox.Enter Me.NumbertextBox.AcceptsReturn = True
I have an number of text boxes and comboboxes on different forms. I have textchanged events which trigger a msgbox if the user enters invalid data(i.e. the number they enter is to big or to small). Is their a simple way to make the program not call the textchanged event when the form is loaded and the boxes get their initial value? Second is their a way to make the textchanged only be triggered when the user enters data not when the program clears the boxes?
how to trigger a textchanged event. I want to enter data in one text box and have the rest of the data show up after i fill it in. For example I enter someones name and then 3 other text boxes fill in with his height weight and ect after i entered his name.
I have the following code to validate two text box entries to make sure that they are valid dates. My problem is that I cannot figure out how to pass the text box value as an argument so I can use the method to handle the text validation of two different text boxes. Here is what I have so far:
Private Sub txtBirthdate_Validating(sender As System.Object, e As System.ComponentModel.CancelEventArgs) Handles txtBirthdate.Validating, txtSpouseBirthday.Validating Try[code].....
I have been thinking about creating an event calendar. I thought through the idea of how i would attempt it, but only came up with one idea; Text files, a folder for each year, and a folder for each month.. when the user creates a new event a text file gets created in: e.g. \2010\Jan\12.txt and if another event is on that same day, the text is added into the same text file. But this leaves lost hopes for my other ideas, since it will get very complicated. Like yearly events, monthly events etc.
I want to create a textbox which contents are validated every time the text in it changes. And an image is displayed beside the textbox if it is correct and another image shows up if its not correct. Pretty much like ajax.
Heres the method which I called from the class.
Public Sub read1() cmd.CommandText = "SELECT * FROM testdb WHERE Name='" & name & "'" Try
[Code]....
Problem is, the method seems to be only called once. And the first image that was displayed stays the same even after inputting a data which does not exist in the database. I'm connecting this program to a mysql database using odbc.
1. say u put 2 in a text box called "Number" and2. when you press enter, 3. another object named "penbutton" to change it's text, that u can see on the picture to "write"..4. originally the book will have the text "Start" on itdo i changed the "number text box" enter event ? how do i do this? This is what i have so far
Private Sub xNumberTextBox_Enter(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles xNumberTextBox.Enter Me.NumbertextBox.AcceptsReturn = True
I got a Sub which processes a code, and then it does whatever the code said. Example.
Code = "Black" -> Turns screen black. Code = "OFF" -> Turns off the PC. And so on.
If I call that Sub from Immediate console, It works perfectly. But if that Sub is called from an event, It does nothing, and usually throws an Exception. I read somewhere that I can fix this by using Threads, but I don't understand how that can help and make it work.
Private Sub prices_KeyPress(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.KeyPressEventArgs) Handles wholeprice_input_new_item.KeyPress, dozenprice_input_new_item.KeyPress, detailprice_input_new_item.KeyPress, costprice_input_new_item.KeyPress
[code]....
I want to validate all the characters. How I can make the event keypress validate all characters in a text box?
Is there a nice simple way I can validate that text box using an If statement to make sure it follows the rule [#][#]:[#][#] (The #'s are single numbers) and not allow anything but a ':' to separate the pairs?
I have an application that has more than 20 text boxes used as inputs(numeric) ( in a form with multiple tabs), and from these numeric inputs I calculate many parameters and display them in other text boxes. The question is how can I trigger an event that will run the calculation procedures each time any of the text boxes numeric values change?( with out having to make procedure for each text box validated eventIs there some thing like a common validation event for any entry in any text box?
I have a TextBox control being used to capture an IPAddress from the user.I want to be able to allow them to change that IPAddres at which point the new value will be utilized by the appropriate .NET socket class to ping that new address. What other event is used with TextChanged to indicate that the user is done making changes to the TextBox. The Leave Event?
I'm creating <div>'s and appending them to a literal's text property. I have added a <a> element to the text so that the user can click on a specific element. How can I tie that to a function to handle the event in the codebehind (vb.net) ?
Example of my Literal.Text ...
For Each row As DataRow In oDataTable.Rows MyLiteral.Text &= "<div style='font-size: 8.25px; text-transform:uppercase; padding:3px; background: #FF8C00; border: 1px solid #000; margin: 0 5px 0 5px; display:inline-block; float: left;'>" _ & row.Item("LastName") & " | <a href='#?"& row.Item("ID") & "' style='color: #000;' >X</a></div>" Next
So the above code I want to somehow allow the user to click the X link and then it would remove that person.
What is the code to assign a event handler value to the Text property of the appropriate label. Here is my code so far and I want the values created by clicking the button to display in the text for the associated text boxes?
I have the below code on the KeyPress event of a textbox howver a need has now come in meaning I have to do myTextbox.Text = "A input string"
Private Sub ChequeAmountKeyPress(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.KeyPressEventArgs) Handles txtChequeAmount.KeyPress Dim tb As TextBox = sender If (e.KeyChar = "." AndAlso tb.Text.Length = 0) Then e.Handled = True
[Code]...
This input string could contain a format that I do not want and whilst the keypress event caters for the need when the user is typing I need to handle it in the case of a text assignment.I thought firing the keypress event after I assigned the text property but I dont think that will offer what I want.
I'm in an upper level industrial engineering class in which we're learning some entry level VB programming. We're working on building a program to solve the travelling salesmen problem (finding the shortest path through a collection of cities while visiting each only once) and I'm trying to add some 'fancy' to it so I can learn some more skills. The basic program is designed to load a bitmap file of a map into a picture box and a text file with the xy coordinates of any city positions. From there, the user can plot the cities with red squares, draw a random tour through the cities, or tour the cities by always visiting the nearest neighbor not yet visited. The modification I'm working on is a method of pointing out a specific city with a black square by entering the city's number (determined from the coordinate file) into a text box.
Private Sub TxtFindCity_textchanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles TxtFindCity.TextChanged Dim ObjFindCity As Graphics = picShowMap.CreateGraphics Dim City As Integer
[Code]...
So far, the program works, but I want the black squares (but none of the other graphics) that are created to go away once the text box is cleared. As of now they just hang around on the screen until I refresh the entire image with a 'clear map' sub. Any suggestions on how to accomplish this?
The program below works fine except for the problem for which The program below allows input of a volume and value which are both successfully drawn to the screen. I will be adding variables to retain the value of each new Volume and new Value input. However, I need code to delete the volume and value graphic numbers drawn to screen when new volume and value's are input. At present new numbers are drawn on top of the existing graphics rather than replacing them. Every attempt to clear, draw over etc has failed. from a very grateful member about to go on holiday and I need this to work for use on hols.
The private sub resetting() does not work but I cannot see why.
Private Sub bwrkMain_ProgressChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, _ ByVal e As System.ComponentModel.ProgressChangedEventArgs) _ Handles bwrkMain.ProgressChanged[code].....
but the status text does not change, debug.print does print the message though.i am calling the ReportProgress from another thread created by the backgroundworker thread.
