May 23, 2012I am working on a vb6 to vb.net migration project using vs 3.5. I have a datagridview.in a particular cell of this grid, user has to enter only numeric data. but after user enter data, itshould become concainated with a $ symbol (eg: if user enter 34, the cell value should become $34). And if he/she presses the hyphen ("-") in the key board, the data (ie. $34) should become -$34 and if again presses the hyphen button in key board, the data should become $34.

Prevent Moving From A Cell In Datagridview That Has No Data?
Aug 3, 2011I am updating my last post so hopefully someone will help. I have following code that will move a cell to the next column when hitting the enter key while doing an edit. It will even check the row at the last cell to validate data is present.
However, if there is no data in a cell and I press enter, the focus moves to the next line like it normally does. I need to prevent the user from moving or clicking on any cell until the cell they are on has data in it. Here is the coe I have used[code]...

Make DataGridView TextBox Cell A ComboBox Cell When It Has Focus
Dec 23, 2011I have a DataGridView with several columns. One column is a TextBox column named "Status". This column can only show one of three values: 'Final', 'Ready', or 'No Reportable'. I want to have some code that would turn the TextBox cell into a ComboBox cell when the user left-clicks on the cell to allow the user to choose one of these three options. When the user clicks elsewhere or the cell loses focus I want the cell to change back to a TextBox cell.
Here is what I have so far, but the code throws an exception indicated below Plus, I don't think the code would remove the combobox when the cell loses focus.

Nov 6, 2010I have a DataGridView where Cell_Validating is being done. I have a Cancel button on my form that allows the user to exit out of the DataGridView changes. The problem is that if a cell was currently flagged as in error, I cannot exit and remove columns from the DataGridView. I get the following error: Operation did not succeed because the program cannot commit or quit a cell value change. VS 2008 Datagridview Scroll With Large Multiline Cells
May 4, 2011I've a datagridview with a multiline textboxcolum, if the cell content is small (one line) the scroll works fine and I can see the content of all rows. But, if a row cell content is very large (ten lines), only is visible the top of the cell and if I try scroll down, the scroll goes to the next row without can see the rest of the cell text, even using the arrows for move inside the cell, the bottom is not visible.I was searching in the web and the only solution is use panel and put inside the datagridview. It looks me a fix more than a solution.

Nov 1, 2011What I am trying to do is to instantly apply a filter to a large list of data such that the list is updated almost immediately regardless of the number of items in the list. I have this working using a listview right now but it is far from instant, a list of 5000 items takes over a minute to get through. What I do currently is to maintain a cache of my data that my listview entries are based on. When the user selects a filter I parse this data one item at a time and determine if each item should still be displayed in the listview, if not I remove it. The complexity of determining whether or not a data entry meets the filter requirements is O(1), but just getting through each element in a loop takes significant time, and so does updating the list view graphically at the end of the process.
I have considered using a datagridview instead, using a database connection. I have never done this before and my main question here is whether this would allow me to do what I have described. With the database I could form an SQL query to return only the items that meet the new filter requirements... but would the data in the form update immediately, or would there still be significant delay?
DataGridView Image Cell Losses Resolution If Cell Size Is Smaller Than The Image Size?
Apr 30, 2012I have just found that if a DataGridView image column's size (height & width - in pixels) is smaller than the image's original size (in my case all images are exactly 180 x 180 pixels) at the time the cell is populated then the image is automatically being converted to a lower resolution I assume to fit the image completely within the size of the cell). How can I stop the automatic scaling of the image?
The image below show the same file displayed twice, both at 60x60 pixels ('Thumbnail' column) and a blowup of the image (PictureBox populated via the CellMouseEnter event) to it's right. You'll notice the resolution of the first blowup is far less the the second. so, what made the difference in the resolution of the blowups is? In the second blowup's case I'd first stretched the image column's width to ~180 pixels and set the row height to match (via the ColumnWidthChanged event) then populated the DataGridView then stretched the image column to 60 pixels (its minimum).

Here is my case, I have 20 thousand unique products, I just fill into dataset & bind only two columns in the combobox for searching & validating the product if it is exist in the product list or not.
1) I read about dataset but all articles are described "Dataset only for few records because it is sitting in-memory". If I fill few records (100 or 1000 products) into the dataset, how can I search & validate REMAINING (NOT FILLED) products?
2) Is there anyother way without filling into dataset and bind to combobox? Can anyone suggest me which is suitable for me?

File #2 is over 100,000 lines. The files are CSV text files. On a User Form, there are two values, "StartTime" and "StopTime". This is the process I am doing:
1. Read both files into ArrayLists
2. Get item #1 of ArrayList #1 (we'll call this "A")
3. Get item #1 of ArrayList #2 (we'll call this "B")

Structure For Large Quantities Of Data?
Jul 3, 2010I have a large amount of data (400 variables recorded 2 times per second) which is output from a factory monitoring system. It is stored in encrypted files in blocks of one hour from which i can extract to csv with a small piece of software.I would like to upload these csv files into a single database from where i can make graphs, analysis or whatever over longer periods.
The csv files have one line of data per 'time stamp', each of which can be conceptually segregated into approximately 15 individual pieces of equipment.I can quite easily import the data into a single table. However, i find that, very quickly, i end up with an enormous file (about 700mb/month) which is extremely ponderous to work with.
is it possible to split the table into 15 separate tables related by 'time stamp' and second, can each of these separate tables be saved in separate files in storage memory (such that only the files with the desired data are imported into ram).
