I am trying to link two columns with dates and time to a new column, but the original columns are not in DateTime format. Here is sample of the data:

I am doing work on a new logging database that I have decided to use UTC datetime to store all datetime values since our company spans timezones and multiple sources and timezones are logging events.However the problem that I cannot get my head around is formatting the datetimes in my datagridview for my user application.Our applications use mostly LINQ to SQL to manipulate our data from generic SQL CRUD calls, so I am hoping I can mask/format the DGV to get the conversion or some LINQ function rather than having to write special SQL stored procedures to do it every time I need to display the data.. (I have found multiple sources that explain how to do that)

Why?I DO get the little resizable-mouse-pointer... but you can only make the column SMALLER, never WIDER.(Same problem if I try to set all the columns to Resizable, using the VB.net IDE)Shouldn't I be able to resize ANY column I want, bigger or smaller?

In my application I read data (using data binding) from an Excel spreadsheet into a DataGridView. This works, but the data columns contain text fields (strings). I would like to set the data type for some columns to "Date" and Decimal. I cant do this on the DataGridView (error: cant change properties for data-bound stuff) and I cant figure out how to do it on the dataset or data-table that I bind to the DataGridView.The following is the code I use to read and bind the data:

View 6 RepliesI have a data grid view that contains several columns. The first column is the only column I care about and it contains Result IDs. The view may be filter from time to time. I want to get the Result IDs from all the visible rows and put them into a table variable so I can use ADO.Net to send that table to a SQL Server stored procedure. I currently use a loop (see below). Is there a way to do this quicker without a loop? I'm new to VB.Net and I was hoping .Net would have an impressive method to do the same thing the loop below is doing.

I'm having problems editing the text of a particular column in a datagridview from the front end. The text enters ok but as soon as the cell loses focus it goes back to the old value. The datagrid view readonly property is set to false and I don't have any problem writing to the other columns.
