-The user Enters an Office ID (e.g HH33)
-The user fills out the rest of the program, the data is then generated into the 6 list Boxes
-User then clicks Save to File button.
-The program creates a Text file with the name coming from the Office Id, so if the user enters HH33, the text file is created with name HH33.txt.

Here is the code for my program. We are making a membership list and it needs to load with just the names in the txt file that is in the debug bin. The txt file is set up in one column and holds the member name and the next line is member number and so on. Information is read into an "array of structures" and the display is supposed to be ONLY the names in the listbox on load. This is my problem. I had it displaying all th txt file info and I just need the names. I tried what you will see in the code but it is not working and my book is less then helpful when it comes to examples and/or knowledge on the subject. Though it could be too many hours spent trying to get it to work.

I need to load a large txt file that is in a fixed width format. There are over 45K lines, so speed is important.I need to load one of the fields into a dropdown box and have another field (label) display the text of another field in the related line.I could import the file to an access db if needed, but would rather not as i also want the txt file to update from a link on a regular bases. So having it in a DB would be more work to process that part.[code]

I can search for the word Love in an .rtf file and return every occurance of the word into a RichTextBox. It returns the word and the scripture the word is in, but it also isreturning a bunch of weird text like: archan78988yykp etc etc. How do I onlyreturn the scripture with the searchedword, in this case the searched word is love. The following code allows words to be added to a listbox. Add the word to a text file and create a folder with the word as its name. The second part undoes the actions.If I try to delete the word immediately after adding it one of two things happen.
1.An error is reported stating the path cannot be found. Although the listbox index value is correct according to the code the error is pointing at that index +1.
2.The code continues to the point of requesting conformation to delete the folder, still pointing at the index value +1. I the action is confirmed the wrong folder is deleted.
However if I stop debugging, then run the code again all works correctly.Is it likely to persist when the application is compiled?

In order to do this I have been experimenting with storing the data in text files. More specifically I've been looking into adding text files as application resources. I am using VB Express 2008 and added the text file resource through the application tab>>Resources>>Add Resource>>Add new text file. I am able to use my.resources.TextFile1 to read the text file but I am unable to write anything to it. I have tried using my.resources.TextFile1.replace and .insert but neither of those are working out. I was thinking there is maybe a read only setting somewhere, but I have not been able to find any information on this issue.

Im having problems with one section. I have imported 4 text files that have lists of computers in them, and i want to read the computer names into an array so i can use them from there. I have the attribute in them set as embedded Resource as well. So there's lots of examples of how to do this if your text file happens to be in XML format. However, my text file is not in XML format and as it contains over 172,000 rows I'm not that keen on adapting it (it's a dictionary)! The text file has been included in the project as a resource.
So far I've got a DataGridView (could use a DataRepeater if easier?), a BindingSource and a DataSet.
The DataSet has a DataTable already defined in the designer with one column.I've managed to load the text file into a String and then create a StringReader based on that String variable, however I cannot find anyway of loading those strings into the DataTable.
