Loading XML String Into XDocument And Inserting Into DB
Aug 26, 2009
The XML String I am getting from other application is converting & to & and 0F to ?F etc. I am loading the XML string into XDocument and inserting into db using linq. Is there any easy way to replace those characters with actual ones.
so say I have a string called Cmd, and the text inside the string is Restarting server in ()..., what I was wondering was how I would go about inserting different substrings like 3, 2 and 1 in between the two parentheses? I know about Cmd.Insert() but I don't know how I would make it go between the two parentheses.
I am doing a project of inserting the data into the database through the used of textbox. I am using 5 textboxes when I run the application. The application is working fine but the problems is that when I post this codes, there is answer that I have to modify the inserting part to make it better. Is there any other way to make it better for the part when I am inserting the data? The program that I am using to make this application is visual studios 2005 and sql server 2005 for the database.
Have the following code which creates a table of all the images in a folder.[code]What I want to do now is group all these by the first two characters and get the total number for each and insert them into individual strings. So for the above example it would be something like:[code]
Basically i have a query string that when i hardcode in the catalogue value its fine. when I try adding it via a variable it just doesn't pick it up.This works:
Dim WaspConnection As New SqlConnection("Data Source=JURA;Initial Catalog=WaspTrackAsset_NROI;User id=" & ConfigurationManager.AppSettings("WASPDBUserName") & ";Password='" & ConfigurationManager.AppSettings("WASPDBPassword").ToString & "';")
This doesn't:
Public Sub GetWASPAcr() connection.Open() Dim dt As New DataTable() Dim username As String = HttpContext.Current.User.Identity.Name
[code]....
When I debug the catalog is empty in the query string but the WASP variable holds the value "WaspTrackAsset_NROI"
How would I go about finding a string of text in a text file then underneath that string of text inserting my own string? So far I have this which isn't working:
Dim MyFile() As String = System.IO.File.ReadAllLines(filePath) Dim MySW As New System.IO.StreamWriter(filePath, False) Dim Mytempstring As String Dim StoreInd As String [Code] .....
far it works! But it work's too well. What I'm trying to do is insert a string of text at a certain index position of a text file, underneath a certain line of text. So far I have:
'Controls Var 16 If CheckBox1.Checked = True Then If Mytempstring.Contains("zrandomtextz=0") = True Then Mytempstring = Mytempstring.Replace("zrandomtextz=0", "zrandomtextz=1") ElseIf Mytempstring.Contains("zrandomtextz=") = False Then
[Code]...
It's inserting the text, but it's inserting it at every line of text in the file. So instead of one instance of "zrandomtextz" underneath "xinserttextx" I get "zrandomtextz" before every single line in the file. Can someone please help me as this has been an issue for months now? Edit: There are quite a few lines above this one, as in 50-150, so I removed all of the above section, however I can assure you that whenever it is simply replacing then writing to file it works flawlessly, it's only now that I'm having problems and this is when I try to insert new stuff under stuff.
I have a couple of textfields in a Windows form. One of these textfields is allowed to be NULL. When I enter a value for every field, it is all inserted, no problem. When I leave the field (txtGewicht) blank, I can't seem to be able to insert NULL in Access Database.
If Double.TryParse(txtGewicht.Text, 0) Then klant.Gewicht = Double.Parse(txtGewicht.Text) Else
[Code]....
This is what I get:
"Cannot set column 'Gewicht' to NULL, please use DBNull instead"
So I changed 'Nothing' to DBNull.value, but it then tells me that System.DBNull cannot be converted to type Double.
I've just got to know XDocument in VB .NET and really like the way I can write XML documents in my code but have just one little problem I can't find a good solution for. The problem is with IIF that I use to check some conditions for example if a node should be printed or not.The problem is when I want to print multiple nodes (from a list of strings) if my conditions are true first. Here is the problem code where I'm checking few conditions and in true part I'll try to loop nodes:
I am up to the point where my application requests and receives a response from digg.com, but I cannot figure out how to properly dimension the XDocument class (as the tutorial shows) to read the xmlcontent that is retrieved.the tutorial is in C# (which I know very little about), but I do not see why I cannot access this class. Intellisense suggested replacing XDocument with Document.Run, but that got me nowhere. I also read that this class was part of the System.Xml.Linq namespace, but even trying to dimension my variable as
I cannot get anything back from the following code... it always pops 0, and the _Qry is never populated, even though _MBXml is populated properly (hovering during debug shows it)
_MetaBasePath += "IIS6-MetaBase.xml" '"metabase.xml" _MBXml = XDocument.Load(_MetaBasePath, LoadOptions.PreserveWhitespace) _Qry = (From n In _MBXml.<IIsWebServer>
I have modified the MSDN example to reflect my problem. When using a namespace I can't get the document to validate as I would expect and when validating a document that doesnt have a namespace it validates regardless of whether or not it has an error in it or not.
Dim errors As Boolean = False
Private Sub XSDErrors(ByVal o As Object, ByVal e As ValidationEventArgs) Console.WriteLine("{0}", e.Message) errors = True End Sub
I am using XDocument to parse an XML file. The first thing I'm trying to do is count the number of <entry> elements under the root. I have this code:
dim xmldoc as Xdocument = Xdocument.parse(string variable) Messagebox.show(xmldoc.root.<entry>.Count)
I will paste the string containig the XML below (it's kinda long, but not too much). Everytime I run this script, it says there are 0 <entry> child elements, but that's clearly not the case. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here.. not sure if it has something to do with namespaces or what.
I am then able to read the contents. However I need to get the namespace of the xml document. I can easily copy and paste it from the xml file and then import the namespace, but I'm building an importer class and I need to get the namespace so I can make my class as dynamic as possible.
I am stuck on a project which needs to exchange data between two programs who have different coontrol files. Program A just creates a a XML File whereas Program B needs the input as an array with two "columns" - but how do can I do the conversion?
Example: The xml looks like: ` <Presentation> <Options Name="1"> <Output>MyOutPut</Output>
[Code]....
But how can I achieve this? I am using vb.net and LINQ and have no idea how to solve this problem. I tried some LINQ queries but I get only indivudal nodes or attributes so I think it would be better to try a different idea.
and the issue I appear to be having is in the function "Unable to cast object of type'WhereSelectEnumerableIterator`2[System.Xml.Linq.XElement,System.String]' to type 'System.IConvertible'."What I am trying to do is populate a strongly typed list of the records, where the list should contain the record id, the field value, and the fields name
I am receiving this XML file and I need to receive these values from there using an XDocument or XMLFileReader, I just can't figure out how to go through all the nodes to receive my values:
(Values I need: both results, address1, address2, city, state abb., and zip) <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> - <ResponseArray xmlns="urn:mdWebServiceAddress"
I'm sure there are similar threads, but I've search and tried most things and still can't find something that works.
I am testing a small project, in the attempt to find the solution for a much bigger application. So, here's the deal. I'm using VB 2005 and MSSQL 2005 (both are Express editions). I've stored the names to some images in the database.
When I use PictureBox1.image = My.Resources.<filename>
and build the application, it works and properly displays the image. Now, what I'm really trying to do is extract an image names from the database and assign it to a variable, this is what I have.
Dim EqTest As New Test1DataSet.EqTestDataTable Dim EqTestAdapter As New Test1DataSetTableAdapters.EqTestTableAdapter EqTestAdapter.Fill(EqTest)
[Code]....
I've used the messagebox for testing so that I can see what the value of "Trythis" is, and the string is "My.Resources.<filename>", which is the correct string, but I can't use that string in the picturebox to display the image, because I get an error "Value of Type String can not be converted to System.Drawing.Image".
I am trying to learn about XML literals in VB. In a "learning" project which based on a console application template the following compiles and runs without error (and without any special Imports statements nor references added):
Module Module1 Sub Main() Dim db As New AdventureWorksDataContext
I wrote a function ReadXML().This function reads XML file and returns a string. The string contains all the XML file nodes values to duild SQL query dynamically. Any way My code is working. Is this right way? Can you please suggest me the unnecessary code(loops...)in this function, So that I can do the code in a better way.[code]
I would like to enable my app to run from a central database, but I dont want to recompile should the DB server change. Are my only two options saving the connection string to an XML file or the registry?
If so I think the XML file will probably be the way I go at least for me. I dont really want to mess with the registry. I just wanted to check what my options are.
