View 6 RepliesI have a textbox on a form that is set to allow dragdrop operations from txt files.Basically you drag a .txt file onto the txtbox, the content of the text file is displayed in the textbox.All is working fine, however after the textfile is displayed in the textbox, the text box text is for some reason is highlighted.I don't want the text to be highlighted (or selected) after it's being displayed on the textbox.Second issue, after I close the file that I dragged, for some reason even if I didn't make any changes to the file, it is acting as if the file has changed.In another words, if I open a text file using my MenuItem Open item, and if I do not change the file, If I close the file it's fine it closes.However, if I close a file that I draged into the text box and then close the file without changing anything in it, the stringcompare function is telling me that the file has changed... I can't understand why.

View 1 RepliesI am trying to write a vb2008 program that allows a user to select an airport from a combobox and then once the value has been selected it searches a comma separated text file once it has found the airport selected ( always the first column in the file) in the file it populates 8 other textboxes with the row data from the file. The idea is to select the airport and then it calls up the radio frequencies associated with the airport.I assume you have to call the data into an array and the search thorough the array until the combobox.selectedvalue = the value in the array, but i am unsure how to do this Ideally I would like to be able to the user to add data to the file thats why I used a combox, but I am having trouble trying to get the boxes to populate so first things first.

Unfortunately this is going to be a problem later on, for a Image with a diferent name will allso have to be saved to the before mentiond Folder. That is the reson for var."CurrentFilePath" it mast hold te Folder Path only "D:DIY.ID Photos"

What I am attempting to do is make a form for a tire shop. I want to put comboboxes on the left side of the form that the employees make choices from. I then want to put some kind of a table or grid looking thing on the right side of the form that will display their choices so that everyone in the shop can look at it see that "John is on bay 5 until 3:00pm". At the end of the day I want all of the combobox choices to save to a file..I dont really need the table or the grid thing to save..just the choices. If I want to do this, do I need to use that gridview tool? or can I make my own table thing to display the choices in.
View 9 RepliesI have a tab control application, each tab loads a particular user control and each of those user controls will then add other user controls that are used amongst other the user controls. For example, I have an "ucQuotes" page and an "ucInventory" page, when the specific tab is selected, the "uc****" user control is loaded on that page, and in the case of "ucQuotes" and "ucInventory" they both use a control called "ucPartNumber"; a user control consisting of a combobox, textbox, and button. I have no issues reusing the shared user controls, in this case. My problem arises with my "ucQuickPrice" control, as it is always present at the bottom of the tab control form (separate from the tabcontrol, but on the same form), and it too uses ucPartnumber.
Here's my issue, as I type into the ucPartnumber combobox, the text I type does not appear in the combobox, it appears in the textbox of the ucPartnumber control that is being used on the tabcontrol page. There are no shared instances of ucPartNumber, nor do I have this issue between typing on one tab page and the text showing on the user control of another tab page.I tried just creating the ucPartNumber controls on the ucQuickPrice control, not adding a new instance of ucPartnumber on the .Load event, and the issue persists.
The combobox(s) in question are bound programmatically with about 40,000 items, ".datasource = dataset.tablename" not to a bindingsource. Autocomplete is set to none, I added code to utilize tool tips and the basic combobox filtering functionality. Is this a bug, or is there something I'm neglecting? I'm about 95% complete with this application, and this just happened today. I made the decision, to just reuse the ucPartNumber control on the ucQuickPrice control (originallly it's size and orientation would not fit, but I added some coding to detect what parent is adding ucPartNumber and to change its appearance accordingly). Before, I made this change, I did not have this problem. And, in trying to go back to how I had things set up before the change, the problem will not go away. if the whole control within a control verbage I used is a bit confusing, let me know and I'll try to better explain what is happening. At this point, I'm going to close and reopen vbexpress, as when I started this ordeal, vb started acting weird and wanted me to save all my work, it usually does this before locking up.
i have been hunting the web for a solution or example to my problem which is loading and xml file into DataGridView with combobox for the cells and then loading the comboxes with data that the user can choose from to change the cell value to and output an updated xml file. Below is my code with the column creation commented out for now, with this code the 7 columns are added with comboboxes to the datagrid but when I read in the xml file its adds the data to another 7 columns on the end and not into the columns I have created first.

View 9 RepliesFirst off, I'm using Visual Basic 2010. I've done pretty well with starting out with some basic things. Copying some codes from tutorials to learn what each code does. But lately I've been venturing into possibilities of ideas in my head, and the recent idea is very simple, but I'm not sure how to approach it.
I have a main form that has options to open up other forms. And in one of those other forms, I want to make it so that you can enter text into a textbox, then click a button to "save" the textbox's content so that anytime the program starts, that previously saved content of the textbox will be the same.
And on top of that, I want to relate the textbox back to the code in the main form.
If I didn't explain that well enough, I'm working on making an extremely basic web-browser (a big jump from what I've been doing), and I added the option under a menustrip to open up Form5 to change the home-page.
I am attempting to discover how I can populate a ComboBox with the data values already located in a data source that has been added to my project. I know how to use the ComboBox.Add method. I also know how to add individual value items contained in a manually entered array at design time using the For Each Next loop. However, I am unable to populate a ComboBox with all values for a field of a table in a data source that has been added to my project. I assume that I am unaware of some simple referencing step that will solve this problem.

I am loading an Assembly using Assembly.LoadFrom() as the assemblies are located in a different path from Application Base directory.

And I consume a Type from that assembly without any problem:

However, the problem occurs when I try to use a Type from this assembly from within another method like the one below:

sAssemblyName is the one I loaded using LoadFrom() actually. After it said it cannot find the assembly, I used AssemblyResolve event which solved my problem :Subscribing AssemblyResolve event :

And I thought maybe the error occurs because it cannot find a dependent assembly defined in assembly manifest file I loaded using LoadFrom() already but when I checked the args.Name, I saw it was trying to load same assembly and after that it worked without any problem. So basically a type in the loaded assembly cannot be found before the event adding change.
My old code was using AppDomain.CurrentDomain.Load() and Assembly.Load() methods and they were working fine without the AssemblyResolve event. I was able to reach types in dynamically loaded Assembly from every where within the same AppDomain.
LoadFrom() can find dependencies automatically within the same requested assembly path and that couldn't be problem as everything this dll needs was there. So at first it looked like a AppDomain problem to me as it looks like it seems it can reach assemblies from Load context instead of LoadFrom context and I am now using LoadFrom context.But now it seems I should pass oAssembly instance evertwhere to use any type from the loaded assembly?Doesn't it load the assembly where I can reach it everywhere (same AppDomain) using simple Type.GetType(...) method?

Then another user opens the program and loads that data into the RTB. Would the format still be superscripted or subscripted.
