I'm interested in creating a simple localhost server that can serve dynamically generated data from a ListView into a formatted web page. I'd also like to "control" or otherwise have the program execute functions based on what links are clicked.I've been searching for solutions and it looks like it would be a fairly simple task but I'm not sure exactly what the best way to go about this would be.
I have simple code that connects to Sql database... (well it doesn't)
VB Dim objConn As New SqlConnection("Server=localhost;uid=***;pwd=***;database=***") objConn.Open()
ERROR MESSAGE:A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)But looks like something is wrong with "localhost" thing. Any help? Where can I get name of (my) server?
I've made a WCF server and tested and debugged it only on localhost so far. I wanted to measure its LAN speed and couldn't get it to work. The client returned a EndPointNotFoundException. Below are the configurations I use on the client and server.[code]
I have the MySQL connector dll for .net, but am having problems.
1) When I go to phpmyadmin on cpanel, it says the server is localhost. I am confused by which IP i am supposed to use to connect, as im pretty sure just localhost will not work.
2) When connected, can i use credidentials from an account already made to access the database, or do i need to use the admin credidentials?
What happen if i want connect to a database server is not my computer local host, is another computer localhost in LAN network? how it works? [code] how about i wan connect the server is another computer localhost database?
I have an application which connects to a database, retrieves a username from a user's table and matches it against the username retrieved with System.Security.Principal.WindowsIdentity.GetCurrent.Name.On my localhost, everything works fine. The database exists on the development server but the application lies on my localhost. All of my authorization and authentication techniques are running smoothly. However, when I publish my application to the development server, I'm faced with the following error.Cannot open database requested in login 'databaseName'. Login fails.Login failed for user 'DevelopmentServerNameASPNET'.
I'm developing a remote control program that uses a mysql database as the bound beetween the server and the client. The only problem is that cause of mysql being really varnuable to crashes i made it in a way that it checks for information every 10 seconds so things doesnt get messy. [code] For some reason after 10 seconds the connection is mysteriously aborted and the reader gives a fatal error. How can i extend the time limit to >10 seconds ?
I have a database setup on my localhost hosting [C:xampp] and I want the mysql server from that to connect to the my one on Visual Basic 08, wait no - the other way round. I want Visual Basic 08 to connect to my database which is hosted locally via my computer.
I have made a "webserver" in vb.net the problem is that it seems like it's just listening to 127.0.0.1 (localhost) and not request that is sent over the internet. I have changed the listening adress to my public internet ip but it's still just listening to local requests.
Do someone have a source code with a working example of how this could be accomplished?
Dim address As IPAddress = IPAddress.Parse(79.138.xxx.xxx) Dim EndPoint As IPEndPoint = New IPEndPoint(address,8082) Dim ss As Socket = New Socket(AddressFamily.InterNetwork, SocketType.Stream, ProtocolType.Tcp) ss.Bind(EndPoint) ss.Listen(20)
how to temporarily save the user input to the pc he is using then save to another pc in the network later. Our LAN sometimes disconnect or there maybe power interruptions and I don't want that the input of the user disappear due to disconnection or power interruption. What is the easiest way to accomplish this?
Here's what I'm working so far. The data saves to another pc.
Imports System.Data.SqlClient Public Class formGrammarI_Page01to04 Dim db As New EPTR_DataDataContext
When the web service is uploaded to the external server the desktop application has no problem finding and using the web service which access an Oracle DB to send/retrieve information. However, when I go to properties and change the 'Web Reference URL' of the Web Reference to localhost there seems to be a problem with communicating with the DB.
I'm trying to see if a file I have loaded is located in the "Xampp-localhost-folder".
I'm loading a php-file-path into a textbox. After pressing a button the php file is loaded in a webbrowser. Now here's a problem. .PHP-files don't load local. The user needs to have at least Apache (MySQL/PHP/FileZilla FTP Server etc) installed so the page can be loaded via localhost.
The most important service that needs to be running is httpd.exe (Apache) or FileZillaServer.exe.
Public Function ProcessesRunning(ByVal ProcessName As String) As Integer Try Return Process.GetProcessesByName(ProcessName).GetUpperBound(0) + 1
I have search google but and have done all their instructions, but it doesn't solve my problem at all....
1. I installed visual studio 2008 in drive D:\ and mysql connector 1.1 in drive C:\
2. I try to change my root password but it didn't work
Here is my module:
Imports MySql.Data.MySqlClient Module Module1 Public conn As New MySqlConnection
[code].....
But if I run this program, i always got a message "Access denied for user "@'localhost' (using pasword:NO)" and i have set password for root,so why it shows "using password:NO"
I made a simple TCP server (I've found the example on the web) in VB to receive data from about 40 TCP clients. The clients are not synchronized but sends data about every 18 minutes; the problem is sometimes several clients sends data at the same moment, so I can't receive data.I also made a second program that reads the data (server program writes data on a file, read from the second program) scheduled.
My question is this: I've seen on the web examples about Multithreaded Server Socket Program, so I suppose this could manage my 40 clients (but now the clients are syncronized and send data at the same time in client mode) or is better get data (I have a central client that asks data to all 40 devices in server mode)?
Second question: can I make a single program where I run both TCP client and TCP server at the same time?
I am creating a very simple Voting System, that will be use on electing new set of officer in a teacher cooperative...
So I have to create two separate program, a Server Program that will manage all the information in the election and a Client Program where voters will vote their selected candidate...
The election officers wanted that the Server Program will display the Voting Results at real time... So when the Voter finished voting, The Voting Result displayed by the Server Program will also be updated every time the Client Program Insert the data to Database....
An action listener in Server Program that will execute if new data is inserted in a Table in the Database made by the Client Program...
I am in the process of designing a computer control program to control a HF communications receiver (radio), and have found a problem with the Serial port. I am using VB Express Edition 2008. This module of the program is supposed to take an input string from another part of the program, format it, break it into 4 bytes, and send it to the radio in hex form via COM port 1. The problem comes in when you try to enter a frequency with an 8 or a 9 in it. The 8 or 9 is usually replaced by 45, ex.-input 9900, receiver tune 4545. The exact same thing happens with 8's, input 8800 and receiver tune 4545. All other numbers other than 8 or 9 work fine. The strange part of it is that sometimes the 8's and 9's work, and work correctly. For instance, 900, 1900, 2900, 3900, 4900, 5900, 6900, and 7900 all work correctly. This led me to believe that is may only be when the 8 or 9 is in the first position, but that is not the case, it also shows up in other positions as well. All other frequencies that do not have 8 or 9 in them also work. I ran into this same problem with VB Express 2005, and worked on it for weeks before giving up and going back to VB6.0. This same module (with exception of the port open command) runs flawlessly under VB6. I have even tried importing the MSCOMM control from VB6, but it gives the same results. In de-bugging mode, all of the inputs, decimal and hex seem to be correct, so the problem must come in after you click the command button, but before it leaves the COM port.
I need to manipulate an external edit control from with in my program. (IE: Get new text whenver it's being enter into edit control and parse the infomation in my program). So, is it possible to create an edit control in my program that base on the handle of an existing application using win32 api or something
The problem I have is: When I click on cmdListen in the server form and cmdConnect in the client form, both programs won't respond and they crash for some reason I don't know.
Client source code:
Code:
Imports System.Net.Sockets Imports System.Text Public Class Form1
[CODE]...
Code: Imports System.Net.Sockets Imports System.Text Public Class Form1
I have created two applications communicating over sockets, one being the client and the other being a server. I want someone to tell me how I can control the client from the server. Please tell me where and how to start. [code]
I have looked into this for a while now with no success. out or lead me in the right direction. I am trying to control my application from an apache web server either locally or remotely.
I've noticed on a few tutorials online that when a new ASP.NET Server Control is added, it automatically includes Properties folder (containing AssemblyInfo.cs) and a References folder.
This works fine for me when creating a C# Server Control, but in VB.NET I just get a template .vb file and a Project file.
Why is this and how can I get an AssemblyInfo.vb file?
Is it possible to control the form of client from server? I must create a program in server that will control or even show/load application form in client. I use Visual Studio .net Ultimate 2010 platform both of the server and client application.
I'm trying to create a new server control type in ASP.NET. This control would put a RequiredFieldValidator into a certain place. My class inherits from the WebControl class and it has a ControlID property which is the ID of a given control. The RequiredFieldValidator will be generated near the control with the given ControlID. However, the value of ControlID is nothing. In what events can I successfully use this property?
Public Class MyControl Inherits WebControl '... Protected Property ControlID As String Protected Property IsLinkedBrother As Boolean = False [Code] .....
But ControlID is Nothing for some reason and the event throws an exception. ControlID is never changed after initialization and it is initialized this way: <MyControl runat="server" ID="IDValue" ControlID="ControlIDValue" EnableCliendScript="true" CssClass="Whatever" Display="Dynamic" />
I want to create a simple client server with GUI to control my little internet cafe in my house. My Question :
1. Where I can get some tutorial to control another computer with my server application
2. Where I can get some tutorial to control bandwidth usage (if can or available)
Honestly, for number one question, I want to block or control user for opening Porn site or Download with download manager that take too much bandwidth so it's affect another user connect too slowlyJust it for billing timing, pricing or another like that I can to program it, but for controling I still didn't understand.
