View 2 RepliesI'm working with a project that is WPF and VB.net. I want to visually simulate "dragging" an object (though I do not want to use standard drag and drop for reason of purpose).Basically, I have a label object that, on its MouseDown event, I want it to follow the mouse cursor inside a 640x480 solid-size grid (but not outside of it!). Mind you, this grid is centered inside a full-screen window. Again, the object should not follow the mouse outside of the grid (I'm guessing a "ClipToBounds = True" here)Then, on the label's MouseUp event, I want it to either stay in its current position or return to its original position, as determined by the value of a boolean variable set by another object's MouseEnter property.Note, if it would be easier to work with, I can change the grid to a canvas in a cinch. I'm guessing that would be desirable.
How do I make the object (label) follow the mouse cursor inside the grid/canvas, but not outside of it? This needs to happen on the MouseDown event of the label. How do I make the object "stick" in its current position? (From this, I can probably figure out how to make it return to its original position on my own.
I have a program made in vb 2010. The problem is it uses my files on the computer such as different cursors and pictures and I really want to be able to make it portable and stick it on a memory stick and run it on other computers. Is this possible?

View 9 RepliesI wanted to make a screen recorder (not screen capture) program, but I am not entirely sure how to get it started. I have seen many videos and things on how to make one, but all of these just take multiple pictures and then don't compile them into a movie file, and I don't want to take many pictures (unless that is the only way possible.) I am using Visual Basic 2010 Express and I have looked at the Windows Media Encoder, but I can't seem to figure out how to use/implement it (yes, I have downloaded and installed it.) Maybe I can use some kind of ActiveX control?

2. I am developing my app using a widescreen monitor. What dimensions does the form need to be set to so that it looks exactly the same on a normal & widescreen monitor?
im about to develop a small appliacation for a bet system, which needs 6 screens, each screen will be a touch screen for each client... the application will be running in one computer only just with 6 screens. my question is does anyone knows how to control each screen separately?. somethign that would allow me to output each forms in different screens would work fine.
View 2 RepliesSo how can I get the fonts to remain the same without having them installed on the system???
Details: I have been dealing with an issue for quite a while now. I set a specific font for a Form. Then, once I build, an try to use it on a different computer that doesn't have the same fonts installed as the computer I made the .exe on, the fonts change.
I am making a program that will put a black mask over an application (like a full screened game). This black mask will fade in and out, depending on certain criteria. Is there a way I can do that with VB? It's to help me dim my monitor without having to push anything.
View 3 RepliesCan I make a certian function that will fade out [make a black screen that fades out for 2 seconds], then come back? Is that possible? ON A FORM.

View 1 RepliesCan i make from this image to make it Loading Screen I mean i put this in Form1 [URL] And i want when the program start the progressbar (the white line to load)
View 1 RepliesI was trying to figure out the cause for this . What i understand is :
1. .net starts splash screen in different thread.
2. Someway when main form load event is finished or about to finish , then splash screen is disposed.
Now in this case , i think dispose method of the splash screen gets fired from the main form , even when splash screen initialization is not finished yet.
BTW this issue occurs in any MS office program when the VB.Net (or even VBA) is processing information.Example: In Excel, a worksheet is displayed on the screen. I start either, a VB.Net or VBA procedure and within 30 seconds the Excel worksheet (previously displayed) blanks out. In both VB.Net and VBA,ScreenUpdating = False. My expectation is that the previously displayed screen would stay static as if I left my desk to get a cup of coffee; came back and the same ole Excel worksheet was still there?Of course, setting VBA Screen Updating = False accomplishes two goals: 1) speeds up processing and 2) saves the user from seeing unnecessary "garbage-processing" steps. Why does VBA or VB.Net ScreenUpdating = False not freeze the screen at the time of its invoking?
View 11 RepliesThen I ran into problem #1 - I wanted to call the methods in another sub but they were shared so I received the error:"Cannot refer to an instance member of a class from within a shared method without an explicit instance of a class"o, I took out shared since I didn't know how to fix it, and put in the Following as Global Variables:
Public listener As System.Net.Sockets.Socket
Public handler As System.Net.Sockets.Socket
Public client As System.Net.Sockets.Socket

I bought myself a TV tuner USB stick, and the supplied software does not do what I want. I looked around for some software examples, but everything I've seen uses DirectShow which was apparently part of DirectX-9, but does not seem to be in DirectX-10. I've found AxMSVidCtlLib, but have not been able to work out how to use it.

View 13 RepliesI was wondering if there is a way, I can hide the forms edge. By "edge" I meen the blue/gray half-transperrant edge. Like in the spotify login menu, for example. There is no edge.
View 3 RepliesI'm trying to draw some text using GDI (i.e. using a graphics object). It is done using the basic method of creating a path, adding a string to it and using a brush to fill it.
The only tricky part is that I need to apply a soft edge wipe to it. To describe what I'm trying to do better, I've uploaded an example done in photoshop: [URL]
What is the best way of achieving this? I need to be able to control the mask that is creating the soft edge - i.e. the position of the gradient, the width of the gradient etc.
Ideally I'd like to do it using the graphics object and not dipping into .dlls - but at the end of the day I'll do whatever it takes!!
Is there a way to feather the edge of an image?
View 1 RepliesI would like to have my application basically appear as if it was part of the desktop background, I've removed the form border etc and made the background colour of the form the same as our standard company background so it all blends in nicely. I have also made it so the app does not appear in the toolbar and it is set to launch on startup so it appears as soon as the user logs in - so all works fine and looks fine because any new apps that the user opens will open on top of my app. The only problem is that if they press the Show Desktop button (or use Windows Key + D) to minimize all apps, mine gets minimized as well and disappears. Its easy enough to get the user to make it appear again as it has a system tray icon that they can interact with, but it would be better if it just didn't vanish when they did this. Now I know the best thing for this on Windows 7 would be a Gadget but the problem is that Gadget's annoyingly have to be HTML/javascript and a) I'm not great with web coding and b) I don't think it is even possible to do what my app does from a HTML/javascript page... oh and c) I can't find any way to deploy gadgets in a business network (there is no way we are installing it manually on all 300 of our PCs), so the gadget idea is not looking very promising.I'm wondering if there is some window message I can capture and ignore in the WndProc event handler
View 12 RepliesI have a problem in detection edges in a picture. Im going to use this to make some recognition of pictures. I have found a way of doing Sobel filtering without the use of system.drawing.bitmat with BitmapSource.CopyPixels. I have posted code fore Sobel filtering here:
[Code]....
I have a function to do edge detection that works fairly good with one pass and without using a convolution filter. The only thing is that it will shift by one pixel the resulting image when I runt it from top to bottom and from left to right. I can live with that. Just a curious thing that I got when I ran it several times in a loop to see the effect of applying it several times on the resulting image.A deformed image appears at the beggining and then, bit by bit it splits appart and after shifting it the width of the original image I get a double image. I wonder how the computer keeps track of the first image and is able to separate the two after several iteractions.I know that in electronics you can have several signals in a circuit and you can separate them with frequency filters, or you can simultaneously download several files with the same modem aand the two computers will synchronize each one, but this surprissed me.
Here is a simplified version of my function
Private Function Preview(ByVal Thumb As Image) As Image
Dim bm As New Bitmap(Thumb)
Dim X As Integer
Dim Y As Integer
[code]....
I have tried with more complicated images and with larger sizes, but to make upload smaller I includes these two images of simpler and smaller size. A view of the GUI and an animation of the process:reload to see the animation.
