Manipulate A DataGridView Control When It's Name Is Stored As A Variable?

I have a number of tabpages that each contain a datagridview control only. Based on the results of a SQL statement I then loop through each tabpage and set its name. The reason for this is that at runtime (and depending on the results of the SQL statement), the contents of each tab page will change - henceI loop through the tabpages and set the name/ text (to reflect what will later be shown in the DataGridView)
The datagridview control on each tab has the default name e.g. DataGridView1, DataGridView2, DataGridView3 so it's easy for me to loop through them e.g.:

i have few cotrols on form (text box, combo box, checkbox etc). Thru some condition i stored the name of the control in a variable.
for example
dim cntrlname as string
if x=1 then
cntrlname = 'txtCode'

at some other place on form i want to use above variable to give the focus to control.

I have 10 variables that have numbers at the end in sequential order (e.g. V1, V2, V3, ect.). I would like to perform a function to find what the position is in an array and then add then add the value to the correct variable. Can I combine V & and the number to manipulate the variable?

I have 2 columns in a datagridview bound to datasource. When the user checks off one checkbox, i want to check some business logic after which I set the 2nd check box in the same row as checked as well.
My problem is: I want to check the 2nd check box right after the user clicks on the first checkbox and not only after he tabs away by clicking somewhere else.
Right now, I only succeed runing my business logic in the CellValueChanged or CellParsing events but those only occur after the user leaves the checkbox, which is not desired, I d like to run the logic and show the 2nd checkbox checked right after the user clicks on the 1st checkbox.
I also tried: CellClick event but I don t know how to : when the user clicks on a a checkbox, how to change the value of other checkboxes in the current row during CellClick event . The changes does not take effect in the UI !!!

how to manipulate the dates to determine which date will be 30 days more then the datetime control I have on my form. i need to take the chosen date from the DateTime control, and determine what date it will be in 30 days. Eventually I will use this process to search through the database to print monthly reports.

Doing a calculation, variable is stored as an integer.It got too 2,147,483,647 before giving me an arithmetic overflow. Anyway i can increase the number it can hold?

My application has a variable VAR_1 that is boolean, this name is also stored in database.
Now I need to set VAR_1 value in my app by reading database and asign x value,
How do I call VAL_1 from a string?, this is:

I was just handed a VB.NET prototyping effort, and I'm not very experienced with VB.NET.I had to create a stored procedure which returns a self-referential table in order. Once, I completed that I wanted to get a DataGridView to show the results.
Previously, my team has been doing a lot of this via the GUI designer of VB.NET so I don't have a ton of code to describe, unfortunately.I was trying to follow their pattern which I will briefly describe here:
I have a DataGridView whose DataSource property points to a BindingSource. The BindingSource points to a DataSet. The editor for that DataSet calls a TableAdapter which gets the data from the stored procedure.
I previewed the data for the TableAdapter. The data is there. On frmMain's load the TableAdapter's Fill command is run. Not seeing anything. And my hunch is that this is way too complex a process to be correct. Or maybe not. I did a lot of Google searches before I decided to bother you fine folks.

Using SQL Server 2008 I created a Stored Procedure called MyStoreProc and it runs fine from the Management Tools.
In VB.Net 2008 I created a new dataset and a new TableAdaptor. In this table adapter I created a new Query called FillByGrid and selected the Stored Procedure. Previewed data and it previewed correctly.
On a form I created DataGridView and selected the Table Adapter from the dataset.
I ran the app and no data is shown. Visual Studio autocreated the code below and I changed it to select the the Query I just created:
Me.MyTableAdapter.FillByGrid(Me.MyDataset.MyTableAdaptor)
No data is shown on the grid so I tried the manual approach:

Dim da As New SqlDataAdapter, ds As New DataSet
Dim conn As New SqlConnection

Still no data shown. However stepping through the I can see that the connection is open, and "da.Fill(ds, "tbl1")" takes a little bit of time as it is running the Stored Procedure and ds table has the correct number of rows and columns. Its just not being shown on the datagrid.
Creating another table adapter in the dataset and returning data from a database table using a standard select * from table command display in the datagridview fine.

I've noticed that I can use LINQ to call a SQL Stored Procedure and use those results in a datagridview and have sorting by column automatically included. However, if the LINQ call is done on a web service, it seems like I have to return the results as an array which, when it gets back to the client, doesn't have the interface needed by the datagridview control to do it's sorting. I haven't been able to find an easy way to get the sorting ability back.
I've tried to serialize the result on the web service but the returned type can't be serialized. I tried putting the data context in a common DLL so I could use the Attach functionality but that doesn't exist for stored procedures. I suppose I could make a table in the data context just for this purpose but that will be a pain to maintain. Would I just be better off skipping LINQ and using an old fashioned typed dataset for this?

I have an app written in vb2005 that allows users to search a sql database for a store name. Once a store is selected, it then presents the user with 12 different tabs, each with a DataGridView showing various bits of info about the store. It's a large and convoluted database, so I'm using stored proceedures to pull the data for each tab. Here's a sample of one of the subs that populates the tabs.[code...]
Now, this works just fine to populate the grids on the tabs, and the same code is copied into each of the subs that fill the grids (changing the stored proc, parameter and grid names, of course). The problem I'm having is how to move changes made to the data in the grid back into the database.
I have stored procs that do this (and the procs do work), I just can't seem to figure out how to trigger the stored proc when the user makes a change.
If it matters, there is only a grid on each tab, I did not use a binding source as I am trying to keep an abstraction layer between the data and the app. I did create a dataset, which is how I gain access to the stored procs, but I left the grids unbound and (as seen in my code) bind them at run time.

I am in need of being able to show a user the contents of a Oracle stored procedure. I have no idea of how to go about actually getting and then displaying the code contained in a stored procedure. Does anyone know of a way? I know how to call and execute a stored procedure but is about it. I am developing using VB.NET 2010 with Oracle 10G as my back end.

I am working on an inventory managment project for a lumber mill. I am currently writing a piece of software to be used on the sorting section of the mill. The problem I am having is when a stick of lumber needs to be cut down in lengt. My current setup has a combo box that is populated with lengths of lumber that we might have (2' - 60'), a "Add" button and a data control (homemade solution with lots of labels, and panels).
The user will scan a tag into the system, and the system pulls up the info from the db. If the piece need to be cut, the user will select the length of the cut, and click the add button. The system will then populate the first line of the data control with the info from the cut (previous piece info, and new length). It also populates a pieceObject struct. This happens for any additional cut that might happen.
The problem I am having is that everytime I press the "Add" button, the length variable will update every length in the piece array.
Here is a section of the code I am dealing with.
piece is a lumberPiece, and pieceAry is a array of 15 lumberPieces
Each time the add button is pressed, the current data is stored into the array, and then the pieceNum is incremented.

Recently I have learned visual basic 2008 express edition and developed programs for data crunching and analysis. The VB 2008 express edition has microsoft visual studio 2008 v. 9.0.30729.1 SP and .NET Framework version 3.5 SP1. Now I want to create x-Y (date-Y value) graphs using the crunched data stored in an array list simulating a data base access. I download and installed the "Microsoft Chart Control for .NET Framework " and try to learn to use it within the VB 2008 express edition using the tutorial. It seems that the chart control did not get installed?
1. Do I need at VB 2008 professional to allow using the chart control?
2. Why after installing chart control, there is no change on the items under the NET components within the Toolbox>ChooseItem>.
3. How do I get to use the chart control under VB 2008 express edition.
4. Any code available to generate versatile graphics without using the chart control? Because the chart control has tons of classes already it seems the best is to just use the existing and downloadable chart control?

I'm using VB.net to create a Crystal Report and using DataGridView to show the data before print it out by Crystal Report. But now I want to:
- Add another column into the DataGridView named: "Print/Not Print"
- Using the value we add permanently into the "Print/Not Print" column as a variable to Print or to Not Print the row which contain it. In this case I prefer "1 = Print" and "0 = Not Print".
- After we change the DataGridView, the databsae in my SQL server still remains the same.
