Manipulating Excel Files Using VB8

My script is pulling some information (filename, date, &c) from a server that contains only (nearly) identical excel files generated by a separate application whenever it is used. The goal is to find out who is using the tool and how often.
I need help with two things: extracting info from within the excel file, and appending the results to the SAME excel file each time it's run instead of creating a new file each time.

I'm setting up a console application that ...
1. Executes a stored procedure that populates a SQL table for reporting purposes.
2. Opens an Excel Workbook.
3. Refreshes the Workbook.
4. Saves the Workbook.
5. Closes the Workbook.
6. Sends the Workbook as an attachment in an e-mail using the SmtpClient class.
Now, steps 1 through 6 are inside of a loop as I would like to use the same workbook for all my report refreshes. My perfect solution is to iterate this loop as many time as needed to have all my reports automatically sent via email as an attachment. The first time through the loop, it works perfectly, however, the 2nd time through the loop, I noticed when the application opens up the workbook, the workbook opens up as a read-only copy even though I properly closed the workbook prior to re-opening it.
I've tried to force the open as read/write but then, the 2nd time the workbook loads, an exception is thrown. I'm on Windows 7 and I noticed that the folder properties has a read-only check box which I make sure is cleared before running the application but then when I stop/pause the application to inspect the folder properties, the check box is checked again. I'm not sure if this is why I'm having issues when I open up the Workbook a 2nd time or not.

I need to be able to read audio files and manipulate them from within my own program (similar to how Audacity does it). Now, I'm not asking for something with a thousand effects and such, I just need the minimal as far as audio manipulation for .net goes. I really just need to be able to figure out pitches and frequencies being played at what times and the ability to move them all around.

I have developed an application using VB.NET, Visual Studio 2008 and the SQL Server database. Now I want to ignore the database (it has 1 table as customer (name,password,hour,minute)) as I don't want my client to install SQL Server separately or other overheads.I am planning to do the whole using file handling in VB.NET (manipulating the data in files itself, for example change username, password, etc.). As I am new I don't actually know the proper way and of course need assistance.

I have an project which was written in VB6 and made use of the Spread3.0 component to display multiple large data from database in spreadsheet. My objective is to convert this project into a VB.NET current version which would not use the third party component but can possibly use a freeware that does similar if not all the functionality.
My question is, are there any freeware that is available in .NET for such spreadsheet-like manipulation of data programatically? I have come across dsoFramer but this only allows the display of the data in an IE frame. I would like to jus embed the content into my existing form.
Also this freeware must be able to handle formula and user-editing as well as multiple cell type such as combobox/checkbox etc.

I'm trying to copy multiple excel source files into one excel file. My current code is working only for 3 source files..If more than 3 files are there, it doesn't copy the data but creates blank work sheet in the output excel file. Lets say I have a source folder with 5 excel files. Each workbook contains one worksheet with data. It copies upto 3 worksheets along with data into output excel file.
Lets say excel1 contains A as work sheet, excel2 contains B as work sheet ,excel3 contains C as work sheet ,excel4 contains D as work sheet ,excel5 contains E as work sheet .Now my output excel file should look like..OutputExcel with A, B, C, D, E along with respective data.But my current code is giving output as A,B,C worksheets along with respective data but its creating blank sheet1,sheet2 in place of D & E.

I am trying to import a bunch of excel 2003 files all with A:H columns and they are under the same headings etc. into a table in access 2003 database. This is a module in access im making. Im using a file search to look for every file that begins with Format (which they all do ) to get at all the files in the folder path. is there a more efficient way to do this? somehow select all files in a folder? and import each to the same table in access? The DoCmd.TransferSpreadsheet seeems to take each file path individually so I'm not sure how to get each file name in the folder to import it.

I'm trying to design a game using vb.net window application, my game is sokoban, a logic game where the character pushes boxes to the destination.I have already programme my picture to be move by my direction key, I trying to find out if it is possible for picture box to push picture box like when the character(a picture box) move to the box(a picture box too), the box will move also. and also the logic for creating obstacle for the game, as the picture that i have programme can move beyond the page, I'm trying to lock the obstacle in, so when i move the picture, it will be block by the picture box.

I'm trying to edit an existing xls and just overwrite it without a prompt to overwrite. I thought it was something like Excel.DisplayAlerts = False but that's erroring with 'DisplayAlerts' is not a member of excel.
So this is my current closing code that doesn't work.

I am using visual studio 2008 (vb.net). I have a long list of file names in column A on an excel sheet. These files are located in a directory on my network drive. I have to copy these files over to another folder. I know how to copy files in vb.net, however, I need to copy the files listed on column A. (example: column A has - 453245435.tif, 43453345.tif, american justice.tif etc....)

I have many files at work that need to be copied from one directory to another. However, I do not need to copy all the files at once.
I get excel sheets with the list of files that need to be copied once a week. So, in the main directory there is about 150.000 files and I only need to copy about 800 at a time.
I am thinking of having a textbox and an open dialog so I can pick the directory the main files are at - another one where I can choose where they will be copied to.
The problem is the list will be in excel sheet (column A). How do I have vb.net (2008) see the file names in column A and find them and move them?
Right now, I have macros in excel doing the job, however, I have so many things in this excel I need to transfer this part out and into vb.net.

I create some files in VB.net from a master file but when I try to open the newly created file, Excel starts and nothing is displayed, you can see the outline of Excel and it's menus and nothing else. You can't do anything with excel except close the entire application. [Code] It is upon trying to re-open where it fails, outside of the VBE. I have not had a problem like this using VB6 before, so I am assuming I am doing or not doing something.

I am trying to write an app that monitora a folder, and subfolders, amd makes a copy of any file that gets saved there, (or renamed, moved etc). Filesystemwatcher does a pretty good job of it, untili someone saves an Excel spreadsheet. Excel does about 9 different file system operations just to save the file. What happens is I get events for tempo files being saved, then renamed, or deleted in a very quick succession. All I want is the final spreadsheet, but these changes happen so quickly is causes my app to crash. Anybiody have any thoughts on how to hendle this?

I want a program where the user can browse to a particular folder, select it, then the program will print all .xls files within that folder. More specifically I want it print on the sheet named Turn-In within the .xls file. Is this even possible, seems like it should be.

In my code i select excel files to add them to a listbox, I then run some code that will replace a certain cell on all excel files in the list. Everytime it changes a cell in the excel file it will go to the next one in the listbox using
Me.ListBox2.SelectedIndex = Me.ListBox2.SelectedIndex + 1
But when it reaches the end of the list it gives me an error. How can i let my listbox know that it reached the end.
