View 4 RepliesI am using a old version of VB Express 2005 probably downloaded in around 2007. In this old version there is no Web Components. Because of my old pc i would like to stick to his version for sometime. Is there a way to get this components? In Express 2008 the web components are there.
View 2 RepliesI am running into problems with my compiled .exe on other machines. On some computers it works, on others it doesn't (all using Windows XP with the .NET framework installed). When I run the .exe on some computers it crashes right away and hits the 'Send error report' dialog. On others it runs just fine. I'm pretty sure this has to do with missing components, but how can I fix it so it works for all computers? How do I find out which components are missing?

Is the data source the entityModel rather than the Database?(I realize the entityModel is generated from the Database.Also had errors trying to generate the Database from the Model. However, was able to generate the Model from the database. I looked at the examples supplied w VB 2010 re EF, but didn't note an example that would apply. Also, had difficulty in running examples.

Here in this web-site it says I can play any videos provided that I have the correct codecs. I am able to play mp4 using my other media players (eg. vlc player). 1. OK So a while back someone showed me an example for fonts from resources, but I noticed if you close the window that it opens, The entire program shuts down... what can I do to fix it?Also, The fonts are not showing up on all computers, only this one....

View 3 RepliesFor a few years I developed websites in PHP, but couldn't get a job doing this nearly two years ago. I spent a year teaching (and if your thinking of teaching, my advice is don't! In the UK anyway), but kept handing my CV out to different web development companies. One of these offered me a job, but the downside (or upside, depending on your views) that they only developed websites in ASP.NET. I made the decision for a career change and accepted the job.
In ASP.NET, you can develop in either C# or VB.NET. The guys I work with are using VB.NET, and I have to say I'm struggling with it. I can understand the basics but it just seems weird, especially as I've come from PHP. C# on the other hand, looks similar to PHP. I'm contemplating learning C# instead of VB, but I'd like to know what other peoples opinions are about doing this?
