Okay normally this was easy to do, but now with IE9 Visual Studio 2010 hangs and crashes. The problem seems to be even worse because you can't build an Interop.mshtml.dll to match version 9. I've tried using the VS command prompt with no luck. Allegedly this is how it is done, but there are no known examples that actually work. If anyone has done this with success

View 3 RepliesI'm trying to upgrade a VB6 app to VB 2008. I have read the article in the tutors corner about automating Excel from VB but I cannot get it to work. Heres what I have done:
1) set a reference to the Microsoft Excel 12.0 Object Library
2) Added "Imports Excel = Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel" to the top of the module
3) in a routine I have added: Dim X As New Excel.Application Here's where I get an error: Error 75 'Application' is ambiguous in the namespace 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel'.
I am trying to create a text to speech program that can speak in a female voice and also have the option to save to a WAV file. I have found some code out there using the Microsoft Speech Object Library. but I can only get it to speak using a male voice. Can't seem to find a way to add a female voice. Things I have found says there should be at least a male and a female voice loaded but only the male voice is there. Also, on my PC, i have the SAPI DLL in the C:Program FilesCommon FilesMicrosoft SharedSpeech directory and when i right click and check its properties it says it is version 5.1.4111.0....but when my project is built, the Interop.SpeechLib.dll that is created is version 5.0.0.0.

I have vb .net windows form application that I want to connect to Microsoft access database using "Microsoft DAO 3.6 object library". My problem is that when I go to Project tab -> Add reference -> COM tab, there should have been "Microsoft DAO 3.6 Object Library" on the list, but for some reason It's not on the list. Then I googled, and found out that the location of "DAO360.DLL" is "Program FilesCommon FilesMicrosoft SharedDAO". My company is currently in the process of upgrading from Office 2000 to Office 2010. The upgrade won't take place until October, but I am currently testing it on my PC. I have some applications that reference Microsoft Excel 14.0 Object Library VERSION 1.3.0.0 and export DataGridView results to Excel. Since I upgraded my PC to Office 2010, my version of Microsoft Excel 14.0 Object Library was upgraded to 1.7.0.0. Now, Office 2000 users are having issues when trying to export data. They get the following error:"Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt."I can't debug to find out the issue because I am running Office 2010 and it works perfectly fine for me. Has anyone else encountered this? I am trying to get information to be pulled out of a database and show in text boxes on another form (frmviewsdets). The error occurs when it gets to the line frmviewsdets.txtsnumber.Text = rdr("StudentNumber") and even when a breakpoint is applied there it just moves on to the next and so on.
I have tried to show frmviewsdets before I pull the data out of the database beut I get the same message.

View 18 RepliesI have an app that uses Microsoft.Speech to recognize speech in a WAV file. It works perfectly when run locally as a console app but barfs when executed by IIS.Assuming I have the following installed on WinServer 2008 with .NET 3.5+:
Microsoft Speech Platform - Software Development Kit (SDK) (Version 10.1)
Microsoft Speech Platform - Server Runtime Languages (Version 10.1)
Microsoft Speech Platform - Software Development Kit (SDK) (Version 10.1)
Is it even possible to use Microsoft.Speech over IIS7? What am I missing here? I've tried re-coding it as an ASP.NET web service but that doesn't work either.

I'm trying to install Microsoft Speech SDK 5.1 on my Windows XP Professional computer for a VB.Net project I'm working on and I'm getting nowhere. I have Office 2007 Pro. Can anyone confirm or deny that this cannot be done? I have an old Office 2002 disk. Would it do any good to put that on the computer (due to the fact that you're supposed to install Speech through Office and Office 2007 does not do this)? Will installing Office 2002 interfere with Office 2007?
View 6 Repliesi had to get the reference of an object/Control(for e.x a textbox) which is open in another .net application. I was able to retrieve the handle of that .net applcation form. but i was not able to obtain the reference of that form. I tried to using control.FromHandle(handle) function. but it returns a null for the handle i passed since the handle is not associated to the application I am running.I also tried to add the handle to my application with the following code.

View 1 RepliesMy problem is when i try to call Application.Run() in a application without a form i get "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." when i run it outside VS. but if ran in debug or release mode it works just fine. i may just be forgetting to setup application right, but ive done it before in this same manor and it worked fine.

Commented out init_timer and init_ready, and now it causes the same error for the myName line. there seems to be something wrong with class Application. btw theres seems to be something wrong with the forum code formatting.
