Numeric Value In Systray (NotifyIcon)
Feb 2, 2011Has anyone got any ideas on how to display a numeric value in the systray? The only method I can think of is to create an image for each number and change it as required.

View 1 RepliesIs there a numeric text box, not an up-down box, a SIMPLE numeric box into which the user can place a number, 5 boxes actually, then on command have the five boxes added and the sum displayed?
View 8 RepliesI try to figure out how I can launch an executable, a little software that have a window and that doesn't have the option to be minimized into the systray. I know how to start a process, how to minimize the current application into the system tray. But I can't find any example how to do it to a process.
There is a way to start a process, hide his window and make it appear with his icon (or a new defined one) into the systray and when we double click it his widow appear and when we minimize it it return to the systray ? For that part I think I will have to capture the process, subclass it to redefined his minimize action, I am right ?
I have an applcation that sets itself to 0 opacity on Form1_load which then changes to 1 when the user left clicks on the NotifyIcon.I would also like the form to center itself directy above the notifyicon like the Win7 speakers, power, ect popups.
View 1 RepliesUsing VB2010. I want to create an animated icon to go in the SysTray, and I have created all the individual frames as .ico files. Now, I don't like hard coding file names in the code, so I created an ImageList with the .ico files, which I then want to walk through using a Timer. Now, apparently NotifyIcon doesn't accept ImageLists? I get errors when I try to use it. I searched the web, and saw a tip to instead pass the handle of the ImageList to NotifyIcon. So I did this in the timer:
Static Index As Integer = -1
Dim IconHandle As IntPtr
If Index = AnimationIcons.Images.Count - 1 Then

I have an app which displays its icon in SysTray but sometimes it is not being displayed for a reason I am aware of, the app is alive but its icon is not shown, the only way to force it to show is to close and re-open the app, is there an alternative way to let it show its icon in the SysTray?
View 2 RepliesTo restore an application from "minimize to system tray" mode to "Normal" mode (visible) from another application, I am using "Showwindow" method of "user32.dll". The API is working as expected i.e. displaying the application on Normal mode. Moreover, I want to remove that application's System tray icon as soon as its mode changes from "minimize to system tray" to "Normal".I had tried using "Shell_NotifyIcon" method of "shell32.dll" by passing "NIM_DELETE" & reference of "NOTIFYICONDATA" but no luck. The API method declaration is as follows: Shared Function Shell_NotifyIcon(ByVal dwMessage As UInteger, ByRef pnid As NOTIFYICONDATA) As Boolean.

View 1 Repliesin vb6 I wrote a program that had a context menu attached to the systray icon, and using an array I was able to create a group of menu items that if you clicked on one of them it became checked but unchecked the rest of the items, I can't seem to find a way of doing this in vb2008,

View 3 RepliesI am reading a data file and storing them in an array of string.Data is random, could be like "1","2","133,18" but sometimes there can be missing values like "?".Once I load the data in the array, I want to check if at least a majority (like 60% of them) are numeric values. If yes, then I wanna track down the higher and lowest value in the array, and output a range of 5.Loop through the array
If 60% of them are numbers (integers or decimals) then find highest value, find lowest value end if produce range
If for example lowest = 1 and highest = 100, range of 5 means 0,20,40,60,80,100 (so 5 ranges are 0-20, 20-40, 40-60, 60-80, 80-100).Also if the ranges turn to have decimals due to weird numbers, I would like to round them up.My problem is, in order to find highest and lowest when there are non numeric values in the array like "?", how should I handle those? I was thinking of something like Double.NaN but I would have to have an array of doubles.
How do i get the handle of a NotifyIcon?

The NotifyIcon control is in my frmMain. However, when I run my program I get mulitple instances of the Notify Icon being displayed. I even get two frmMains getting launched if I try clicking the other tray icon that has been made. I'm guessing this has to do with the New instance. If that's the problem, is there a way I can move the notifyicon control to some completely separate class?
I'm currently coding a multi-form project that requires a NotifyIcon. The first form is the Login form which then opens a 'logging-in' form and then finally another form (they're all opened using FormName.ShowDialog() and they hide themself before opening the next form).Login Form -> Logging In Form -> Final Form. When the final form is opened, the NotifyIcon's visible property is set to true and it appears in the tasktray like normal. But when I use Me.Hide on the final form, the NotifyIcon disappears with the form.Any ideas about what is going on? The program still runs in the background despite no forms are visible (which is how it's intended to be) but without a NotifyIcon, there's no way of making the forms appear again.

How can I make it go away when the app closes?
I'm trying to have my NotifyIcon show the native context menu of the Operating system. When I use ContextMenuStrips they have the custom skin made from Microsoft which I dont want. I want to use the original menu that all other applications use on my computer. How Can I use that menu? I have tried using the "old" ContextMenu control but It doesnt work with NotifyIcons, it only displays with other controls.

When creating a right click (ContextMenuStrip) menu for a systray (NotifyIcon) icon, how do I give it the same style as most other context menus? Most other menus have a nice fade inout when right clicking on the system tray Icon. In addition they respond immediately when moving between nested levels. I cannot replicate this in Visual Studio 2008 using a simple form, NotifyIcon and ContextMenuStrip assigned. The menu appears harshly with no fade effect regardless of any property.
View 11 RepliesI created a new WinForm application then dragged a notify icon onto my designer. I coded my desired functionality for the NotifyIcon's behavior inside the Form1.vb file.I think I remember something about adding a module to the project, and setting the project to launch the aforementioned module instead of the form...but I can't figure out/recall how to keep the functionality I've coded into Form1.vb.
View 1 RepliesI want to have a NotifyIcon in the system tray that when clicked, opens a context menu on the NotifyIcon with several options that open different forms.

I've got a NotifyIcon that signals downloadable application updates. I want the download page to open on a Left Click on the NotifyIcon and on a Left Click on the NotifyIcon balloon (on screen for 10 seconds). However, when I handle the BalloonTipClicked event I can't figure out if it was a Left or a Right click. Thus, while the balloon is still on screen and the user Right clicks on the icon, I get both the popup menu and the download page opening. How do I detect the Right mouse button was used?
