why is the notifyicon not working at all?i added it to the form filled the text and title and just to see it i put the following in the Form1_Load

What I want to do is add a shortcut, ctrl+shift+P for example so when that's pressed the program maximises again. I've create a VB2008 app that upon clicking the applications Start button it creates an icon in the taskbar that is visible to the user upon creation, it also shows a balloon tip at the time of creation. This all works great when the program starts but once the balloon tip timeout value has elaped, the icon, in Windows 7, disappears from the visible portion of the taskbar and becomes hidden, which is only visible if the user shows the hidden icons.
My question is this...... In the VB2008 program is there any way to set the behavior of the icon so that it remains visible on the taskbar instead of allowing the icon to become hidden?
The original design of the program was to get an environmental variable, display the value of that variable in the balloontip, hide the form and then check every 10 minutes for a change in that environmental variable. Once the form was hidden the user could see that the program was running by the presence of the icon in the taskbar and if they hovered over the icon it would display the current value of the external variable. Also if the user wanted to return the form to it's full size all they had to do was click on the taskbar icon. With Windows 7 if I hide the form and the icon is not visible in the taskbar because it too is also hiddem this may create a problem for the user as they may not even be aware that Windows 7 hides the icon. So....Is there anyway to insure that the icon remains in the Windows 7 taskbar or is this a case where I need to re-evaluate my program design?

My intention is to output a string onto a web page and to replace the line breaks with a br tag so that it can be displayed on the page correctly. However, nothing is replaced. When viewing the page source, it looks like the line breaks still exist in the string. Similarly, when displaying the string via MsgBox, it displays normally as well. I have also tried wrapping the output with the pre tag and it displays the line breaks properly as well.
The string was originally entered by a user through the use of an asp:Textbox and saved into a MSSQL database. It's retrieved and displayed on another webpage using an asp:Literal control. The only thing that happens to the string before it is submitted is that it is trimmed (i.e. textbox.Text.Trim()).
Perhaps there is something I did not consider?
Edit #1: Due to time constraints, I've decided to just wrap the text with the pre tag. It's an acceptable work around as it preserves the line breaks. Unfortunately, it doesn't explain why the code didn't work in the first place. In the meantime, I'll just leave the question unanswered until I find a proper answer.

It appears that my favorite thing in the world is tackling projects that are beyond my current knowledge and abilities. I have a little project that I am working on which is a simple image viewer stocked with (upon completion) your standard Load..., Next/Previous, Zoom In/Out, Actual Size, and Full Screen capabilities. However, I am running into a few snags:
(1) I've been able to get my "Load..." button to display a file dialog box, but I cannot seem to get a working filter (with which only image file types are allowed to be selected) in working order.
(2) I have a PictureBox object (entitled PictureBox1) that displays the image selected via the file dialog box, but it loads images in their full size (1:1/100% zoomed) state without scrollbars, etc. to allow me to navigate the loaded image. I would like to have it load the image, initially, to fit within the dimensions of PictureBox1 and from there be able to zoom in/out via my "Zoom In/Out" and "Actual Size" buttons and be able to scroll if the zoom level is beyond the dimensions of PictureBox1.
(3) It dawned on me that I haven't the faintest idea how to get my "Next/Previous" buttons to allow the user (me) to navigate, in succession, the images contained in the folder in which the currently loaded image is stored. [code]

I have a solution with number of projects developed in Visual Studio 2005 and the breakpoint is not working displaying message 'the breakpoint will not be currently hit' No symbols have been loaded for this document. I have tried solutions/suggestions in the forum and none is working. I have deleted the obj and bin directories and nothing worked. Selecting the Debug Menu, Windows, Modules option I can only see the pdb files for some projects (dlls) and cannot see for the project I'm debugging.

The NotifyIcon control is in my frmMain. However, when I run my program I get mulitple instances of the Notify Icon being displayed. I even get two frmMains getting launched if I try clicking the other tray icon that has been made. I'm guessing this has to do with the New instance.If that's the problem, is there a way I can move the notifyicon control to some completely separate class?
I'm currently coding a multi-form project that requires a NotifyIcon. The first form is the Login form which then opens a 'logging-in' form and then finally another form (they're all opened using FormName.ShowDialog() and they hide themself before opening the next form).Login Form -> Logging In Form -> Final Form.When the final form is opened, the NotifyIcon's visible property is set to true and it appears in the tasktray like normal. But when I use Me.Hide on the final form, the NotifyIcon disappears with the form.Any ideas about what is going on? The program still runs in the background despite no forms are visible (which is how it's intended to be) but without a NotifyIcon, there's no way of making the forms appear again.

When my app closes, the NotifyIcon is still there until I run my mouse over it.
How can I make it go away when the app closes?
Has anyone got any ideas on how to display a numeric value in the systray? The only method I can think of is to create an image for each number and change it as required.

I want to use the original menu that all other applications use on my computer. How Can I use that menu? I've got a NotifyIcon that signals downloadable application updates. I want the download page to open on a Left Click on the NotifyIcon and on a Left Click on the NotifyIcon balloon (on screen for 10 seconds). How i can detect which mouse buttons (left or right) cliks?
I'm having an issue with an app where my NotifyIcon displays an extra icon. The steps to reproduce it are easy, but the problem is that the extra icon shows up after any of the actual codebehind we've added fires. Put simply, clicking a button triggers execution of method FooBar() which runs all the way through fine but its primary duty is to fire a backgroundworker to log into another of our apps. It only appears if this particular button is clicked.Strangely enough, we have a WndProc method override and if I step through until the extra NotifyIcon appears, it always appears during this method so something else beyond the codebehind must be triggering the behavior. Our WndProc method is currently (although I don't think it's caused by the WndProc):

How do I get rid of the configure icon shown in attached screenshot It opens up the windows taskbar area icon configure window where you config all the
