i am created a form with three comboboxes. means
FirstNameComboBox
MiddleNameComboBox
LastNameComboBox
all ComboBoxes are fill ( names ) from a "CustomerName" table
"CustomerName" table is have more than ten thousand records
i am use three binding sources Like CustomerName.BindingSource, CustomerName.BindingSource1 and CustomerName.BindingSource2

I have combo box that populate from database by user input, the problem is when I type "food" and "food" is not found in queries the caret will always go to default writing place. And if my search doesn't find anything I got error "Value of '0' is not valid for 'index'. Parameter name: index".

I need to get the user input for where they want the files that will be produced by my windows service to be stored.
I was thinking that i could do this by reading in the user's input to a variable in the on start event of my service? this variable is then later used in my xml writer.
I want to populate a Combo Box with a list of names and from that have the contact information (address, phone, email, ect..) populate a series of textboxes. The list is roughly 20 names, but it could grow to a hundred or more. Since the contact information changes periodically, I would like a very easy way to maintain it (Excel or Access).
Update: I am just trying to understand whether I should use Linq (have to learn it) or is there some other way this should be done.

What i'm attempting to do is have several textboxes where the user input's there information and a seperate text box to give there input a name so it can be sent to a combobox and saved with my.settings so when the program loads or the user needs the textboxes populating they can select the name in the combobox and it fill out the textboxes.

I'm trying to do this by reading the original text file byte by byte, converting it to a character, and then either adding that character to a memory stream or writing the unicode character to the memory stream. Then I'm saving the memory stream to the original file.

I know how to read user input using textbox but it only can read character and numbers. Is it possible that I want to read user input equation?
Example:
User type A+B
User put range of A and B.

The issue I'm having is no matter what the user types in the program end. What I would like to happen is if the user types s, then the program starts over and lets the user perform another search. I am writing a hangman type game and I am displaying the word to the user in a label as all *'s, but I cannot figure out how to have just one of the *'s changed in the label to the correct letter when the user inputs the correct letter into the text box and clicks the check letter button.Everything else in the program works perfectly, except for this part.[code]When I use the .Replace it changes all of the *'s to the correct selected letter.

View 5 RepliesI currently have a form with two comboxes. The first cbo is being populated with a project number, which is being pulled from the first column of a spreadsheet. I now want the second cbo to read the first cbo and then find that project number on the spreadsheet; when it finds that project number, I then need it to copy data from the row the project number is on. I have converted to vb from vba. Below is the code I used in vba (which obviously does not work). I only need certain cells from the project row.

I cannot figure out how to incorporate the number of days into the input box then get it to loop and count the number of times the User inputs in the number of days. Then I have to incorporate it into the equation to get the total distance D = MPH * Hours. What I have right now wil not count up the number of days and locks up after I input one number and will not add anything to the listbox. Because I also have to make sure that they cant add nonnumaric values and the number of hours per day cannot exceed 20. I have put things in and taken them out but it has been 2 days and I am lost now

I have a form where the user chooses a facility and then the list of patients for that facility are displayed in a data grid view. When I click to add a resident, the last name field on the data grid view is highlighted in blue below the last record that already exists.If I try to start typing without clicking in that cell, the facility changes - it looks like the control is still in the facility drop down box. How can I code it so that the user can just start typing in the data without having to physically click in the cell to start entering data?

To create the profile I'm trying to use Process.start to launch a process as the newly created user. With the use of loaduserprofile property the users profile gets created and i can do my regwrites without problem.

Does anyone have any idea what might be useful. It was thinks of a listview bu i can't see that you can type into that. I cant use comboboxs because there are no predefined list and i know there is some way to generate text at runtime (i think) but i don't know how to do it and i would prefer a clearer approach.
