Apr 28, 2011I saved a file with the extension .doc. I use the RichText to write and save the text. I did not set any encoding type when I saved it. When I tried to open the file in the Richtextbox again, I got all the formatting characters in the RTF file. How do I correct this? How do I open and re-open a .doc file in the Rich Text box control without the formatting showing up in the box with the document contents?

Jan 15, 2010I'm using a ContextMenuStrip for multiple controls and I'm trying to figure out the best way to get the control that was actually clicked on to open the Context Menu. The sender just gives the ToolStripMenuItem reference, which has an Owner property that references the ContextMenuStrip, but I cannot figure out how to tell which control the click came from. There must be a simple way to check this, right? I'm checking it in the ToolStripMenuItem's click event.

Sep 9, 2011Is there a way to have a desktop vb application take control of an already open browser window? For example, have it mouse click certain coordinates in the window or check if the window contains certain elements.
I've looked at using Microsoft Internet Controls(shdocvw) and MSHTML(IHTMLDocument2) but I am struggling on how to access elements of the browser window (e.g. body.innnerHTML).
Find/control Open Excel Files?
May 12, 2009Upon my program startup, I need to see if an Excel 2003 file with a certain name is open and then control it (set a reference to it). Unfortunately, the path of the Excel file is not set; else I could just detect if that file was open. So I guess I need to somehow loop through all open instances of Excel; then once I set an Excel app reference to each instance I could loop through the workbook names... But how would one go about looping through open instances of Excel in VB.net 2008?

but it open a dialog box in which I have choices for (save ,open and cancel)

2)Open : opens the Doc in a new office document (excel or word)

Dec 30, 2009I'm making a program that signs into Hotmail and auto reads all the messages. I just can't figure out how to invoke, click to open the first message. I am using the Webbrowser Control which I know is so flexible if you know what your doing. I do see that the whole inbox is in a table so i don't know if I need to approach that in that manner or not. I spent 5 hours last night trying to figure this out.
Here is the html code of the inbox inside of hotmail. The very first emails subject is" Dailymotion registration confirmation.

Open New Form Unloads Checkedlistbox Control?
Nov 3, 2011There is probably a good reason for this but I haven't worked with multiple forms while keeping controls from unloading before.
The process I've always used to open new forms and go back and forth is below. Once I open a new form, get a value from the user and go back to the original form, the checkedlistbox.checkedindices value on the original form is then 0, though it was a positive value when going to the new form (I can tell that the original form is reinitialized when coming back to it so it makes sense that the controls would be empty at that point).
What is the best/proper way to control multiple forms and keep control properties available the entire time?[code]...

My problem is that I cannot get it to build in VB.Net 2010 Express Edition. I created a new project with the standard form1.vb. I then added the reference to ribbon dll. But I get errors when trying to build the app. I have attached a screenshot with the error.

Forcing Links Click In Web Control To Open New IE Window?
Jun 7, 2010I have a program that contains a web control and a combo box. The combo box contains a list of servers to log into. When one is selected, it loads in WebBrowser4 web control. User logs in and have a work list to work from. What I am trying to do is program this so once they are in work list and click a link, I want that clicked link to be fired off in a new, IE window, not in the WebBrowser4 web control. I want the web control to maintain the work list page that is already up.

Apr 14, 2012I have a windows form that have 5 webbrowser control. I also have serveral links of URLs and each webbrowser will open them. My problem is that after all links already opened, when I close my windows forms, sometimes my application suddenly open my default browser automatically and open url that on my URL list. I already tried to make all webbrowser to navigate to "about:blank"to make sure there are not loading any webpage before I close my application but the problem is still occur. This has given me a headache since this problem is not always occur when I close my application.

What I want to do (actually I am not sure how to do it, or is there a way to do it), when I choose one of the value in one of the column inside the table, I want it to open a form that contain data(details) based on that value.
How to do it? How to call the value that I pressed, so it can be used to open a new form containing the details of that value
