I am very new to SQL and do not understand as much about the language as I had hoped I would after a couple months of looking at it. I am creating a procedure database for work where we store word documents of procedures in a folder and use that to populate our database. I've been getting connection errors because I didn't realize I was trying to use the server.CreateObject command with an Apache DB and then using the connection string with an SQL Server DB. I am using SQL Server 2008 and I just ahd no idea why it wasn't connecting because I had been googling most errors.

I'm developing vb.net application with mysql as database. The database is on other machine in the network. In one function connection opens and executes query successfully. The same function makes call to other function.This second function tries ot do same thing. But this time while opening connection it gives error-"Access denied for user 'root1'@'AZAR' (using password: NO)". Here 'AZAR' is the name of my machine. The first function uses public variable declared in module for connection, whereas second function uses local variable for connection. I'm using PhpMyAdmin tool.

I have made a PRN file using the "Print to file" option, and now I want to make a VB.net application that will print it directly to a TCP/IP printer which is not currently installed on the computer. Is it possible to achieve this by simply opening a connection to the printer's IP and sending all the bytes of the PRN file to it, or is it more complex than that?

i am using access database for my program. now i have connected to the database in MDI form of main exe, and ir also works, user can log in, it gets verified etc etc etc. now here is the problem, when i load a form from dll and try to use any sql query on that form, i get message, "database connection is not opened". so what i did was, i added the connect() (a function i designed to connect to database) in the load part of the dll's form, it made the trick, query's started to run, everything went fine, and when i reload the form i.e after closing the form, i load it again from MDI form, i get error, connection already open..

It works fine when I use the asp:fileupload control, but the trick is that when the user deletes the image, I'm supposed to replace it with an image from the server saying "empty", in code-behind. I know how to open, use and save text files in vb, but I can't find any information anywhere on how to open an image / binary file in a similar manner so that I can use it as an sql-parameter on the update query. View 5 RepliesI am trying to copy a table in a database into another database on another connection in VB.NET, using OleDb. If they were on the same connection I would just use SELECT INTO, but they are not. I have two different OleDbConnection and cannot see an easy way to do this.
Right now I am attempting to just copy the database into a DataTable using an OleDbDataAdapter, and then loop through the DataTable and insert every record into the target database one at a time. This obviously takes a ton of time for the large DB I could potentially be dealing with, and I have to deal with escaping strings, null values, etc.
edit - just to make this more clear: I have two OleDbConnection objects, one is linked directly to a local .mdb file on my computer (JET). The other is linked to a database on our servers (SQLOLEDB). I am wanting to do this:
"SELECT * FROM fromDB INTO toDB"
But I can't because fromDB and toDB are on different connections, and the OleDbCommand object is only attached to one. The only way I can see how to do this is to connect to fromDB, copy it into a DataTable, connect to toDB, and copy all of the data in the DataTable row by row into toDB. I was wondering if there is an easier way to do this.
Creating a new database in a Windows Forms project (done according to one of the MSDN tutorials) results immediately in a "The event log is full" error.The database exists as an item in the project, but cannot be opened or configured (i.e.,it doesn't exist really). newly installed MS SQL Server Compact Edition,This is a new computer (though fully updated), and to my knowledge no other versions of SQL server are installed.I note that someone else has contributed a message about the exact same problem (according to a preview in the MSDN search results page), although for unknown reasons clicking on the item does not take me to that message.

I got the whole "check if the user has input information correctly down pat how ever Its this whole, connecting to a database (sdf) if in another vb file ands calling that method into aspx file and proessing forum input to say "take this, insert into bla..." I come from java, JSP and J2ee bak ground where its not that diffrent and I dont have all week to read books and take baby steps. I have until tuseday morning to finsih this.
