Overloaded Vb Methods Not Found At Runtime When Called By C#?

Not sure if this question belongs here or the Interop forum, but here is the situation. I have a vb.net app that was upgraded from vb6. It has an overloaded Login method. A simple method with two string parameters for name/password calls the primary login method with numerous optional parameters. The simple method is for compatibility with C# because, until Visual Studio 2010, optional parameters were not supported.The C# intellisense finds the overload and compiles ok... but throws an error at startup stating that it cannot find the Login method. This makes no sense and appears to be a problem with vb. (I am using .net 4 for both vb.net and the c# test harness.)ILDASM shows the following:

In this project I am making a grade calculator; I am modifying an existing code I have to have the following characteristics: I need to modify the DetermineGrade method so that it accepts the maximum number of points that can be earned on both tests (currently, the max number of points is 200: 100 points per test). For an A grade, the student must earn at least 90% of the total number of points. For a B, the student must earn at least 80%. For a C, at least 70%. For a D, at least 60%. If they earn less than 60% of the total points, then grade is F. Here is the exisint code I have for the DetermineGrade method specifically:

To the board: Lately I've been getting Runtime error 3447 ("The Jet VBA file (VBAJET.dll for 16-bit versions, or VBAJET32 for 32-bit versions) failed to initialize when called. Try reinstalling the application that returned the error") when attempting to open a certain program (not one that I designed, just downloaded and installed). I installed this program in January 2009, but this error began happening only this past July. someone else to information about the files vbajet32.dll and expsrv.dll. One site said that the problem was probably caused by the file expsrv.dll being absent, but I checked my System32 folder, and it's there. As far as I can tell, it has always been there (the computer was made in 2008, and as I said the program had always worked before). Vbajet32.dll is also there. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program, but error 3447 still occurs. I also tried uninstalling the program and installing an older version, but 3447 is still there.
I tried replacing expsrv.dll, thinking it might have been corrupt, but that didn't help, and I cannot register that dll anyway. I can't figure this thing out. Both of the files are there, and I didn't change any settings or anything anywhere between last January and this July. By the way, I am on Vista.

i was wondering if it possible to have a condition where lets say you have a column in the datatable called amount and a textbox acting as the filter called say maxamount to set it so the rowfilter when filtering the table will sum the number in the amount column until the number in maxamount is met, then stop and only return the rows where the total sum of the amount column is equal or less than the maxamount value, so i guess if the next row takes us over the maxamount it discards this row and returns the rows previous to it. is this possible using datagridview rowfilter or should i be loooking elsewhere to achieve this?

I have an sql table called Stock with two fields called StockID and StockCode. I want the user to select the stockcode from a combo which in turn populates the stockid for that item into a lable on my form. I have already populated the stockcode into the combo but dont know how to compelte the rest.

I have a form called FrmPracDetails which is built up with a List view called LvwColProc. Therefore when you click a field on the LvwColProc it takes you to another form called FrmColProcessing, here you can make changes to certain fields which are also present on FrmPracDetails. What I want to do is when you make changes on FrmColProcesing and Click the Save Button (which calls the Save function)the changes appear instantly on FrmPracDetails. Please note, FrmColProcessing will always be open next to FrmPracDetails. I have tried to put this code in the Save function present in FrmCol Processing as shown below, but it doesnt Refresh FrmPracDetails form. [code]

I have the following line of code in my program:
JCL_History.Enqueue(JCL_History(I))
This JCL_History object is basically a Generic.List encapsulated in a wrapper and has the following method:

In my testing I have 2 items in this JCL_History list. When I call that first line of code I posted (the one that invokes Enqueue) with I = 1 I expect the first item to be shuffled to the bottom and the second item to be shuffled to the top.
After the thread returns from Enqueue I notice that this is exactly what happens to my list, HOWEVER if I hit the "step_in" button after the execution of Enqueue I go into the Default Property's set method where Index = 1 and value = and it screws everything up, because the item that got shuffled to the end (index 1) gets overwritten by the item value shuffled to the top.
So basically the set method on the default property is getting called at what I think to be a completely ridiculous time. What gives? By the way I'm running VS2005 on XP.

So Google's not a good choice for looking up examples for overloaded operators like "And" or "Or", because it tries to parse them as operators to the search query itself. MSDN also provides no examples of how to implement an overloaded And operator, so I'm not certain how to properly overload it for my project.Does anyone have an example of "And" at minimum? "Or" or "Xor" (or any others) would be a bonus. I'm not certain if I need to overload these operators in my objects just yet, as I'm still building them out and haven't planned beyond just yet. But having examples around that might get indexed by Google will probably help save the sanity of a lot of people...

I am not sure how clear my question is by the title, but I am trying to make Class methods instead of Instance methods in Visual Basic that way I don't have to waste memory and code creating temporary objects to execute methods that don't need instance variables.
I am not sure if you can do that in VB but I know you can in Objective-C by using either a "+" or "-" sign in front of the method declaration. And in C++ (at least I think, I can't remember) you put the static keyword or const keyword in front of the function.How would I do this in VB if it is possible? Or should I just make a separate set of functions that are not members of a class?

I have created a dialog as a winform and am calling that winform like this:

pretty simple. I want to be able to set the visiblility of a control on the win form when the win form is called. I would like to do this as a constructor so I could write the following. Dim dlgEditChangeOrder As New dgEditChangeOrder(visibleIsTrue)
Can someone give me the contructor code to make this happen? The reason I am concerned is I dunno if its legal to do this inside a winform since the winform is loaded bby the precreated IntializeComponent() function

I have not come across the Alias term before but I can guess what it does. What I am unsure of is the reasoning behind overloading the alias. If that is what is happening.I need to create overloads for the TmSendByLen function as the 'As Any' is not supported in VB.net so I am not sure if I should just remove the alias or if I should leave it in place.

I tend to loath repetition in code, so when I come across a problem where the only different is types I tend to use generics. Coming from a C++ background I find vb.net's version to be rather frustrating, I know C++ has template specialization and I guess vb.net does notso what I have is a set of routines that do the exact same code regardless of type being passed.something like this

I have an abstract class in vb.net with two subclasses. In the abstract class I have a constuctor that looks like this:[code]I would like to create a second constructor that doesn't take any arguments and just initializes the args to default values.[code]When I attempt to create a new subclass using the second constructor the compiler complains that I'm missing two args to the constructor.Is there a reason I can't overload the constructor in the abstract class?

In my previous application using Linq2SQL I was able to overload constructors with parameters by doing this:

Partial Public Class Accomplishment
Public Sub New(ByVal accomplishmentTypeID As Object, ByVal description As String, ByVal title As String, ByVal applicableDate As DateTime, ByVal lastUpdatedBy As String)

Basically using a partial class off the object, sharing the namespace of the .dbml file and calling the default constructor and then doing additional stuff. So then in my code I could do something like:
Dim accomplishment As New Accomplishment(id, description, title, applicableDate, lastUpdatedBy)
This seems to no longer work in Entity Framework as there is no default constructor to call.Does this no longer work? And if so what is a good alternative to implementing something like this?

Can you look at my coding and let me know what I'm missing or doing wrong?I have a SSRS report that is called from a ReportViewer control and the ProcessingMode for this control is Remote. The report also has 1 parameter in it's DataSet.In the code I placed a MsgBox to make sure the code is finding the parameter and returning the parameter name. I am trying to stick the value of 10 into the parameter for playerID 10. Data for this player does exist.
I believe I need to add some more code to make this work but I'm not sure what else to add.
When the code executes the report is displayed but no data is shown in the report.

I recently found an awesome tool called "Freemind" that is called a 'mind mapping' program. It's similar to MS Visio but way cooler and more automated.I reeeallly would like to integrate this into a VB.net Form, but how?
Has anyone seen or heard of mind mapping inside VB.net before? Are there programs out there already that work with VB.net or anyone have an example they have seen / built that works?
