I have 2 panels on the form butttt for panel one i want to slide height and panel 2 i want it to slide width.
I have been programming for almost a year now, and I still havent found a real reason to use the Panel control. Is there some kind of use for the panel that I dont know of? It must be here for a reason, but I just cant figure out why? Does anyone use this control?
View 5 RepliesI'm working on a visual studio 2008 VB.Net project (.net framework 2.0), and am having some trouble with the Panel control using a fixedsingle border. As a small example of the problem, suppose I have one Panel2 contained inside of Panel1. If the Left position of panel2 is set to 0 (meaning it's border is up against the left edge of Panel1), the left border will show as bold, and slightly indented.

What I'd like to see is just a single line, not bold or indented, where the two panels borders are equal. Is there a property or custom paint technique I could use to achieve this behavior?
I have the Immediate window option available in my menu, but when I click it or do the keyboard shortcut, nothing happens. It's quite difficult to debug an application without an Immediate window.I've tried resetting my settings to general developer and all of the other suggestions I found on the web, but still, no immediate window shows up when I click it or do the keyboard shortcuts..
View 1 RepliesI have a panel that has 8 buttons located on it each named But1,But2,ect. What I am trying to figure out how to do is resize all of the buttons in width when the panel is resized in width. [Code] Is there something simpler to do this as I will eventually have 3 panels with 8 buttons on each one that would need to be resized at the same time. In VB this was controlled by an index and a for next loop, but I see no way to create a control array for all the buttons when they are on separate panels.

The main form has a large ListBox that displays event messages. What I want is for the application to display the messages as they happen. What seems to be happening is that the application will do everything and then display all of the event messages at once at the very end. pointers on how to write code that will add event messages to the ListBox as they happen?

I am trying to run powershell script from VB and I want to see the output of the script as it is running inside a console application. With my script (shown below) when I run from powershell it shows "Command Sleep Starting" and then waits for 5 seconds and then displays the other text.
However, when I run from VB.NET program, the execution waits for 5 seconds and dumps all the text output at once. It doesn't execute first Write-Output command and then wait and then output as it should.[code]...
I have set pane1.hide() and panel2.hide on form load however the panel still shows when I had only one panel it worked fine the new panel is exactly the same size placed directly over the other.
Why does it still show? I know I could use multiple forms it just seems a waste creating the same form over and over just so I can change a small part of it.
how to show a panel on top of other panels ?
That means , when a panel(panel1) is in top of another panel(panel2) , when i click the background panel(panel2) will be shown in top of the panel that was in top(panel1)...
I have a DataGridView control in a form, and as of a day ago, when I click on the control, I get *no* properties listed in the Properties pane of the IDE. The properties pane is totally blank. Neither properties nor events are visible. I have tried everything. Prior to this, the properties and events displayed normally.Other controls' properties are displayed when I click on them, but not the DataGridView control. If, after clicking on my DataGridView control, I use the combo-box on the Properties pane to look at any other control's properties, they come right up. If I then select my control's name (DataGridView1) in the Properties pane combo-box, the IDE crashes completely and I have to restart.

View 1 RepliesI have a form that allows users to select file and then it reads the contents, parses the data and then executes a sql insert statement to add it to a database. What I am having issues with is showing real-time results. Currently, I have the import operation take place on the import form within the OnLoad event. The problem with this is it only shows the final results instead of the results real-time. Is there anyway to do this without creating a seperate thread and delegates?

View 2 RepliesHow to hide or show rows in a table layout panel.
As I used rowstyle property and it works
But the issues are
1) It works very slow
2) It seems as form is vibrating and lightning behind the panel when rows are hiding or showing(jerky motion of hiding or showing)
I also used the control .visible property for each control of the row but it also make same problem of being slow
i want to show a panel when a particular item is selected in a radio button list. "Different selection have different panels"
View 2 RepliesI'm trying to make some autohide panels, which will show when mouse enters some area, and hide when mouse leaves the panel. This is however not so straight forward. I can handle MouseMove event for the form, to trigger "show" panel, and I can handle MouseEnter event for the form, to trigger "hide" when mouse leaves the panel. But this is not consistent, since sometimes mouse will leave the panel directly onto another control, and sometimes it will leave the panel directly "from" a control on the panel, and not from the panel itself.
Of course I could do the slow work and make logic for each control, but that is not very neat. Is it possible in some way to capture the mousemove event regardless of which control mouse is above?

What I am trying to do is fill the contents of the datagridview with the cell contents. There are two ways to do this.
1) Either set the DGV width to the cell contents width, or
2) Autoadjust the width of the cells to the width of the DGV.
how to implement either of these two approaches?

View 2 RepliesIn VB.NET for the combo box, I have set the autocomplete mode to "SuggestAppend" and autocomplete source to "ListItems". Its working as expected. But the width of the autosuggest dropdown box is not same as that of combo box and so it looks weird.I tried changing the value dropdown width property but it changes the value of normal dropdown box (seen after clicking down arrow on combobox), and not the autosuggest dropdown box.So what code or property needs to be set to make autosuggest dropdown box the same width as that of combobox width?
View 1 RepliesI have a drawing program written in VB6 that is capable of printing very thin lines to a laser printer. In VB .net, even though the pen width is set to 1, the thinnest lines are way too "thick". The equivalent line width in VB .net using a pen width of 1 is about the same as the DrawWidth = 4 in VB6. So, my question is, how can I print very thin lines to a laser printer in VB .net?
