I have a gridview which returns a number of columns, sorted by date.If possible I would like to display each distinct date only once. So, for example, if there were 5 records for 18/06/2009 and 3 records for 19/06/2009, they would be displayed as follows;
'Date Name
'18/06/2009 John
'<no date here> Mary
'<no date here> Susan[code]......

enddt is a Date variable and when i convert enddt_2 to a string i get the error as
Conversion from string "17/01/2012" to type 'Date' is not valid.
Let me clarify, if a value in textbox is 17/01/2012 than after parsing the value is changed to 01/17/2012 (my systems Region and Language are dd/MM/yyyy) in enddt_2 and when i try to convert to dd/MM/yyyy format and store into a date variable i get the above error. This error comes only for the dates after 12. i.e a date variable accepts a date in MM/dd/yyyy format.The dates before 12 work fine, i.e for all dates from 1 to 12 there is no error.How can i make enddt store the date in dd/MM/yyyy format.
I have a date time as a string, eg. "2010-08-02", I'm trying to convert it to UTC with the following code snippet..DateTime.ParseExact("2010-08-02Z", "yyyy-MM-ddZ", CultureInfo.InvariantCulture)When I print to the console, I get the following: 8/1/2010 5:00:00 PM.Is there a reason why the date shows up as the date before the date I'm trying to parse? I could just add a day to this to advance to the original day.

View 3 RepliesI am new to Visual Basic and I am having some problems with a programming challenge. The user is told to enter their city, state, and zip into a textbox seperated a certain way (Ex. City, State. Zip). The program is supposed to display the City, State, and Zip in three seperate label boxes broken up. So far the code that I wrote for the button click event displays the count up to where a comma is found (City). Im not sure how I would display the word instead of just the count. Also, finding the state and zip after the City is found. I know I have to use the IndexOf method as well as the Substring method.

I am trying to parse a log file and only display new entries containing the word "say". I have this set on a button click event, but I prefer a timer or something, but the textbox flashes everytime the timer ticks so I am using a button right now..
I am parsing many files after I click the button.I want to display the process name when I parse a file. So I am going to display it as

The problem is the screen is freeze if too many files will be parsed. So designing an event to display the file name that is processed is a good idea. But I haven't any experence on it.

For example, today is 05/11/2009, I have two text box.
Actually it means that whatever what date i choose within the current month, the two textbox will display the last three months date.
For Example, Current Month is November 2009 , Textbox 1 will show 01/08/2009, Textbox 2 will show 31/10/2009.

I am creating a program that will use sql 2008 as a back end and have run into an issue passing the date from the program to the database, where the date is also listed as 1900-01-01 in the database.The data type in the database is smalldatetime and i am trying to only display the date.If i change the datatype to date in the database i get the error that "sqlunhandled exception: Operand type clash: int is incompatible with date" Ideally id like to display the date in a dd/mm/yyyy format.[code].........

I got a gridview which auto generates columns. One of the columns is a date field.Somehow, i cant sort the date field. It's being interpreted as a string.The data comes out a database. The datatype there is set on datetime.his is the code in the aspx file:

The gridview on my page is set up with templat fields in each column so that I can enter information and save it to my database. There is no data that ties directly into the gridview just the ability to add multiple rows at a time to save the data. I am putting together a kind of "build your own report" page that will have up to 20 options for people to select.Each option, selected by checkbox or dropdown (probably) will add on to the SQL data source to pull only the information needed and display it in a gridview.For instance, the initial query is:

How can I do this, preferably referring to the column using the column name of "My Position" and not a numeric...If this can NOT be done....The other option is to query everything and format it - and then hide columns in the gridview based on items that are not checked. Would this be easier? (Doesn't sound as efficient to me).

When Irun the app the data from the xml doc is captured and put in the database, but I can only see old data, the data that is captured during the current session can not be seen unless I close the app down and restart it.
