DataGridView Combobox Drop Down Item Select Query

Jun 14, 2012

I have set the combo box dropdown style to dropdown, the auto complete mode to suggest append and the auto complete source to list items. This works fine IF I choose the required item using the mouse. If I type the full item name into the combo box, it is displayed but not selected for use. Is it possible to use a key such as TAB or Return to select the item in the combo box's display area after the drop down window has closed?

I am trying to run a query an Access db from VB. The general query which I want to run is

or SELECT * FROM Patient WHERE Patient.PatientLname = ?

I tried using an input box which captured the user input and pass that variable to the query, but that failed. Then I read about writing a function and using that, however, I keep getting an error which says Function not defined, but when stepping through the code, it seems to work. Passing Query And Field Parameters To A Sub?

Feb 8, 2010

I have a LINQ query:

VB
Dim Db = New MyDataContext
Dim Qry = From cust in Db.Customers
Select cust.ID, cust.Name

And I want to pass it to a function to filter it, like this:

VB
FilterAnyQuery(Qry, cust.ID) ' WHERE "cust.ID" CAN BE ANY FIELD

The Sub should be of this kind:

VB

How can I pass "AnyField" to the Sub and make the LINQ "Where" clause work?

Integrated Security=True;
User Instance=True"

Using con As New MySqlConnection(strCon)

as you can see. I use string.join to convert the list of integer to something like this. '1,2,3'. Problem is that is read as a string so i get the incorrect results. I need to have where EventType IN(1,2,3).

Passing Date Parameter To DataTable.Select() Method

Apr 9, 2009

Jst recently i came across the select() method of data table and felli n love with it instantaneously.

Basically I want query the data table on a date field, unfortunately the format of the date string returned from y database in to data-table and the date string i'm passing as inputs are different.

How can i make sure that the data is compared irrespective of the formats ? Can I use something like SqlParameters whoes data type is date for comparison ??

this is what i'm tying :

dim dat as date = "#1/3/2009#"
dt.select("StzDate ='" & dat "'")
entry in datateable dt : StzDate : 3/1/2009 12:00:000
Am I do'in something wrong ??

Also, can anyone redirect me to some site where I can learn a bit more about passing parameters to the select statement,etc...

Sql - Passing Comma Delimited List As Parameter To IN Clause For Db2 Query Using Designer In 2008?

Mar 26, 2009

I want to pass a comma delemited list of values as a parameter to a query I'm building using the designer in Visual Studio 2008 based on some strongly typed DAL tutorials I was going through. The query is going against a DB2 database. Here's what I want to do:

select * from prices where customer in(?)

It works fine win I pass in 123456 as ?But fails when I pass in '123456' (it is a char field so I don't know why this doesn't work; it must be adding these behind the scenes) or 123456, 123457 or '123456', '123457' I'm adding this page to a portal where all the data access is being done based on the DAL designer model with a BLL that calls it so I wanted to do it this way for consistency.

Select An Item In Combobox?

Oct 9, 2009

I have a combo box with a list of book conditions. When a book is loaded into the form, the condition the book has needs to be selected. How can I do this? Here's what i have: Excellent Very Good Good Fair Poor just for example, how would i select "Good" WITHOUT USING THE INDEX? The database knows the condition text, and condition id. I need to select the condition in the combo box with either. However, I don't know how to add the condition id to the items in the combo box. How would I do this in Visual Basic 2008? **EDIT** I forgot to mention, although i am using a database, i am NOT using SQL Server. I just need a way to select it with a variable containing either the id or condition.
