Passing Value Through Querstring Without Showing The Destination Page In The URL With ASP.NET Web Form

I have a small web app being written in ASP.NET, VB.NET , .NET 3.5 I pass a value from default.aspx to demo.aspx using query string. When Go button is clicked the URL will be like this : localhost/demo.aspx?id=4 But I want URL to be sth like this when Go button is clicked : localhost/?id=4 and the id value is passed to demo.aspx so the expected result can be shown. How to get this done if possible without using the routing technique.

I have been developing an app in VB.NET which requires a control object (for example, a ListViewItem) to be dragged out of the form, and to a user-specified location (for example, on the desktop, or in a folder). However, The file that is intended to be 'copied', as the 'ListViewItem' represents, does not yet exist. It needs to be downloaded and then placed in the user specified location. Am I able to get the path/location of the destination drop? I would then proceed to download the file, and then place it where the use specified.
I have looked at other questions regarding a similar issue, which details the dragging operation outside the form, its just there doesn't appear to be a way to determine where that short cut went or how to flag the destination location. Essentially, I am thinking that it may require some sort of 'dynamic link' or 'virtual file' as I've seen mentioned elsewhere. Then, after the drop operation, somehow accessing this 'link' from my application, proceed to download the file and place it in the final drop destination.

I have a asp.net app that writes a pdf to file. Then, later that file is opened into a window (standard acrobat reader) for viewing. The entire document loads as it should, but the Reader initially shows the last page in the document on the screen. The user must then scroll up to the first page. It doesn't happen all the time (about 50%) and occurs across several test computers. Is there a switch in the code I'm suppose to use in creating the file or displaying the file to tell the reader to "start displaying the document on the first page?"

I have a master page which contains everything that inherits it within a form. A page inheriting from it needs to run some javascript to act on a text field on a page. However, I can't seem to reference that text field through the javascript, since the form begins on the master page. The following line will come up bogus: document.form1.txtFindUser.value = blah.responseText; This is because form1 is defined on the master page, while txtFindUser is on the current page.

I have 2 servers that produce xml files and store them locally on their hard drives.Im not to sure what would be the best way to make these details viewable from any machine on the same network?I have created a asp.net web page which reads and displays the xml files. It does it fine locally, but would i have to host it on a dedicated web facing server so that it could display information from the 2 different servers on the network?

I have a crystal report that works in Crystal Reports Writer XI just fine. I run the report in the application passing the same information that I use to test in the CR Writer and the report is completely blank. No exceptions what so ever are raised in the application.I've opened the report in VS2008 and resaved it and verified the database and still nothing. I have two different versions of the report. The report is using stored Procs and I have verified that it is loading the report because it is accepting the parameters I setup in the report. If I change the name of the parameter I'm saving to something invalid it then throws an error.

Any thoughts or suggestions as to accomplish this. I have done something similar to this using asp:HyperLinkField, but I this does not work in my current scenario.

I am currently working with a gridviews in asp.net(vb). I have it where I am able to pass information from gridview1 to gridview2 on the next page. However, what I need to do now is pass a variable from a column in gridview2 to the header of that page. i.e. in Gridview2 we have a column and all results are the same, the column header is StoreName and all the data for column is Sears. I know how to make the entire column invisible, but at the top of the page I need a sentence that looks like this:
Store Information for Sears
I am having trouble with what the code would look like for that line, all the thing I have tried have resulting in using a variable before it is declared. I need this line to be dynamic as the results will not always be for Sears.

I'm using silverlight3 and vb.net..I want to pass the value from Default.aspx to my App or Main page. I wrote the code in my default.aspx page which it is returning the local ip address of the client System, I would like that same address to be used in my silverlight pages.

I want to enable a photo in the upper right section of a Windows Form, but I can't figure out the way to set a photo to visible when one of the tab pages is selected.Right now I have it set up as a visible = true when the tab page is clicked (the tab page itself not the tab button). What I want it to do is become visible when the tab button is clicked.
If this is still confusing I can expand more. Not sure what more you need.
Edit: I'm trying to do it without placing the photo within the tab page.

I have a form that is HTML, it involves a few string questions, a radio button, and a check box question. After the form is filled out, the info is then passed to an aspx page which sends out an email with the info. I am able to pass the string questions to the email, but am having trouble passing the radio button answer and the check box answers to the aspx and to then to the email. I have a form with a Tab Control that has 18 pages. When I click on a tab it opens the page and select a textbox on that page (txtTextbox1. Select() ). This works for the first 8 pages but not for the remaining 10 pages. Although on these pages I can mouse click on the textbox, enter info, save then click my Add button that clears the textboxes and has the code (txtTextbox1. Select() ). The textbox is selected just fine. The code for all my pages is the same except for the tab name and the control names. The tab key will move the selection to the next textbox in order on all pages and the Enter key is coded to do the same. The first 8 pages have a total of 256 labels, buttons, list boxes, textboxes and checkboxes on them.

I fear that there is something obviously wrong with my code, but I have come across a situation where the Form.Load event is not firing when I create and show my form. The form is not subclassed (as I've seen some problems with that in some searches), and I am not getting any errors thrown when I step through the code in the debugger.
I have a break point set on the IDE-created form load function (which does have the Handles MyBase.Load signature suffix) but the breakpoint is never reached and the form does display and work.The form is passed three arguments in the constructor but the IntializeComponent() function is called before anything else is done.

I open a form using .showdialog and load some info onto it. I have code that runs on the MyBase.Load event. Basically, I have a Try, Catch, End Try block and if the Catch executes in preparing my information, I want the form to stop loading i.e. give a message and not show at all.

I am trying to pass information to parent form from modal form in vb.net winforms application.
1.) I created a copy of a form and displayed it using following code.
dim f=new frmParent()
f.show()
2.) Depending on conditions a button on frmParent opens a modal child form and asks for some informations. I used following code for that:
dim f = new ChildForm()
f.showDialog()
Both code works fine. When user press saves in child form i need to close childForm and use the user types values in parent form. I know how to close the childform but not sure how to pass info from childform to parent form.

Why is my MDIChild form not being displayed in my MDIParent form? I want to click a button on form frmStudyResultsFilter which will then display an MDIContainer form frmCalculatedResults (maximized). When frmCalculatedResults is shown I want a small dialog modal form to be in the center of frmCalculatedResults. For some reason frmCalculatedResults will not show on top. Plus I get this error"Form that is not a top-level form cannot be displayed as a modal dialog box. Remove the form from any parent form before calling ShowDialog." Here is my code:

I'm sure I'm doing my login process for my app in a not so perfect way, but as with lots of things, it works. The issue is to make it work I have to use the very unpopular DoEvents thing. I would like my application to show a login screen before loading my main form. Currently I have a login dialog box with a FormOpen boolean property and an authenticated boolean property. If a user logs in successfully, I hide the login form, set formopen to false, and authenticated to true. If they cancel out, then I do the same and just set the authenticated property to false. If authenticated=false then I end the app, else I show the main form via application.run(MainForm)

I have a search page with a couple of pulldowns. Dependig on the values of them I show a grid matching the searched criteria, basically a table with links the user can navigate to. My problem comes when the user wants to navigate back. At the moment I have a "Back" button which simply redirects the user to the initial search page. I think it would be a good improvement to have the values of the pulldowns filled in with the values the user selected, this way when he presses the "Back" button he would not have to restart the whole search process again.
