I am trying to use the Printform to print the form. I would like to use autofit or some other type of scaling to get the form to fit on one page. I have done some looking aroung and have seen the following instrutions a couple of times.
1.Drag a PrintForm component onto the Form from the Visual Studio Toolbox
2.Set the PrintForm.BodyContainer property to reference your Form
3.Drag a PrintPreviewDialog component onto your Form from the Visual Studio Toolbox

However, with the coding above on the print preview the form screen shoot/dump isn't centred. So I was wondering what would be the way to go about doing it? This is using the printform in the power packs available btw.
Also I figured it might be using height/width/location/margins etc, but I'm not to sure how one goes about assingning values to them. Like the two above I commented don't work.

im having problem creating an invoice. on my form ive layed out text boxs,listboxs etc in the correct order. i do not want to print out the whole form, but just how the layout is and containing the information in the labels etc.
my program is working perfectly fine the only problem is i just cant print it!! i managed to print the subheadings, eg price,name,quantity etc . i want to be able to print the contents of the listboxs under the correct heading. does anyone know a way to go about this?

trying to print a Form that I created using a VB.Net console application. My console application creates an instance of a Windows Form and fills it with data. I then created an instance of the Print Form class from the Microsoft Power Pack and am trying to get the form I filled with data to print but no matter what I've tried it just prints the command console window.

I'm using PrintForm which comes with PowerPack to print a form with a couple of Labels into it.But the letters appear a little blur and not clear at all, bad quality, I tried by increasing the size of the labels but the result was the same.Under the PrintForm parameters I only found one that could be relevant, the papersize but that doesn't helped too.
View 5 Repliesim making an application in vb.net (duh!) anyway i have created and coded the whole project and it performs exactly as i want it to (i dont need code help). my problem lies with the fact that my project is 2-3 parts
1.a setup form that gathers inital data about the enviroment stores this data encrypted in a config file. after inital setup this form is not displayed again. but needs to be run on both computers
2. the second form is the real application form im in the process of turning this part in to a background service anyway this form is the one that establishes the connection between two nodes it works correctly
3. the config files
anyway here is my problem i want to make this application distributional with just one file the (.exe) and have this .exe make everything else happen. it runs the setup form and creates the first config file which it does then it needs to produce a copy of just the second form and the config file to transfer to workstation #2 that will run independtly without the whole application which i cant make happen then it needs to turn both workstations application on by only starting one on either computer and invoke the other computer to start its corrosponding app also no idea how to make this happen any ideas or suggestions as to where to look to try to find my answers.im thinking i might need to make two seperate applications (a setup app, and the running app) and include them both in a project and use the setup.exe to to package them together this is a little side project that im making for my self to use to make programming a little easier so i plan on giving it out to some fellow students to test and tell me what they think so im not really worried about ease of use or complicated procedures yet but if it turns out to work and actually be of use to anyone else i would be willing to rewrite it to distribute to the masses but for now i just want it to work for me.

As Autodesk is going to discontinue VBA for their Inventor product in the near future I have been looking at other ways to run VB.NET in Inventor. To date it doesn't look like VSTA will be the replacement. Automation from an External VB.NET app is certainly possible, but leaves something to be desired for speed and integration. Compiled Add Ins are the Cadillac of choice but can be a royal pain to debug and develop. Autodesk now provides a lightweight VB.NET script interface called iLogic. It's main purpose is to allow extreme customization of Solid Modeling parts. The code actually resides inside the Part Model file.

I have a form that I am using "PrintForm" to print out, however there is a notes section that can contain a lot of text, seeing as the Printform function only takes a bitmap of the form, it cuts off the text. I have another function that will print the contents of a textbox - I'd like to display this below the bitmap.

I am creating a program that I would like to distribute. I am using printform in VB 2008 to print my form. My form is the size of my computer screen...15 in. If the program is run on a different computer with a different screen size, will it affect the appearance of the form on the screen or the printing of the form? If the form is run on a laptop, for example, with a smaller screen, will it cut off my form and thus cut off the form during printing? Will a bigger screen increase the size of the form and not allow it to fit correctly when printed? I was just curious and wondering.
View 6 RepliesI fear that there is something obviously wrong with my code, but I have come across a situation where the Form.Load event is not firing when I create and show my form. The form is not subclassed (as I've seen some problems with that in some searches), and I am not getting any errors thrown when I step through the code in the debugger.
I have a break point set on the IDE-created form load function (which does have the Handles MyBase.Load signature suffix) but the breakpoint is never reached and the form does display and work.The form is passed three arguments in the constructor but the IntializeComponent() function is called before anything else is done.

I open a form using .showdialog and load some info onto it. I have code that runs on the MyBase.Load event. Basically, I have a Try, Catch, End Try block and if the Catch executes in preparing my information, I want the form to stop loading i.e. give a message and not show at all.

I want to click a button on form frmStudyResultsFilter which will then display an MDIContainer form frmCalculatedResults (maximized). When frmCalculatedResults is shown I want a small dialog modal form to be in the center of frmCalculatedResults. For some reason frmCalculatedResults will not show on top. Plus I get this error"Form that is not a top-level form cannot be displayed as a modal dialog box. Remove the form from any parent form before calling ShowDialog." Here is my code:

I'm sure I'm doing my login process for my app in a not so perfect way, but as with lots of things, it works. The issue is to make it work I have to use the very unpopular DoEvents thing. I would like my application to show a login screen before loading my main form. Currently I have a login dialog box with a FormOpen boolean property and an authenticated boolean property. If a user logs in successfully, I hide the login form, set formopen to false, and authenticated to true. If they cancel out, then I do the same and just set the authenticated property to false. If authenticated=false then I end the app, else I show the main form via application.run(MainForm)

I am using VB 2008 & Access Databases for creating WinForm Applications. Also i am using Crystal Reports for Report solution. my question is How do i created reports such a way that they can be printed in faster Ascii Format on any DotMatrix printer. The default true type fonts make printing very slower.
I tried to use "Draft 10 cpi" font which come to available me after i installed a correct driver for my Epson printer. which also helped me overcome this problem. however it wont be the scenario with all my clients i.e. they might have different printers having different Make with different drivers installed. i have tried to open such project on there PC but the printing wont come in Draft instead the fonts get expanded too much & the print wont come right.

I have to write an application that consists of mainly one main form, but several different things I wanna display. Pretty standard I guess. So there is a menu, some controls, and the main stuff below (ranging form graphs, tables, dropdown boxes, print preview, etc). I would like to use it like one would use frames in html, design an object that is limited to a box or panel that I define. The literature I have does not give me a clear idea of how to do this (yet). The most obvious seem to be the use of MDI, open a predefined form with no borders, maximize it before showing and remove all minimize/maximize options. But that does not work so well. The form inside the MDI parent does not fit the size that is given for it when it is loaded. e.g.

So my main question is: Is MDI the way to go here at all or are there better/easyer ways to achieve this? If MDI is the way to go, how do I sucessfully restrict a child form inside another object, without giving the user any opportunity to resize (i noticed that I have minnimize/maximize/close buttons, even if I disable them on the child forms themselves)
i used printForm to print forms, but when i installed the powerpack 3.0 it doesn't work anymore.i am always getting an error "PrintForm is ambiguous in the namespace 'Microsoft.VisualBasic.PowerPacks.Printing'" i am using visual studio 2008 professional edition.
