Populating Collection With Arrays?

How can I access the Arr2 through A? For example, I want to do the following:

A.Item(1) (1,1) = 15

Populating Series Of Textboxes Using Control Arrays

May 22, 2012

I am having trouble with .net again. I have a series of 10 text boxes. I want to be able to populate them from an array and read there values into another array. In vb6 I would create a text box array with 10 text boxes / indices. I could then populate them by txtbox(i).text = arrVal(i) and to reference them arrVal(i) = txtbox(i). I am stumped I can create 10 text boxes on a form if I have to, but I want them somehow tied to each other as they were in vb6.

VS 2005 Populating A Collection From Some Tables In The Database?

Apr 26, 2010

I am populating a collection from some tables in the database which serves as a look-up from controls (combobox) I am using but what I want is rather than hitting the database each time can I just cache the collection and get the collection from the cache? The look-up table may or may not change all the time so I would want to have a way to validate if the cached collection is still valid or not.

VS 2010 DatagridviewComboBoxColumn Dynamically Populating Items Collection?

Aug 10, 2011

I am trying to create a basic quoting tool but got stuck on how to clear and change the item collection from within a combobox for a datagrid. What we have is a list of 4 columns like a. Device b.TypeofService c.State d.Price Inside a sql database. Data is also structure like above as well.

I have a datagridview where the user will populate a,b,c and the price will be display and a total at the end. However a,b, and c aren't related in my current application. The combobox will show all possible dinstinct values for each column.

This works fine but I want to refine the application to only show the values of b. which are in the database after the user select the value for a. I have tried searching on how to do this as I assume to the Contry/State/City situation but could not find anything for a datagridview control in VB.NET.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? If I cannot do this dynamically from within a datagridview I was thinking of maybe creating three combo box outside and having it populating the datagridview afterwards but it wouldn't be as nice.

Arrays - Access Collection Keys During For Each?

I have some code like this:

Dim col As Collection = New Collection
col.Add(value1, "key1")
col.Add(value2, "key2")
' later...
For Each item As String In col
' want to get valueX and keyX here; currently, "item" holds the value

How can I get both the value and key within the loop? Maybe there is another class that makes this easier?

VS 2008 - Are Arrays Considered A Type Of Collection Like Lists

Mar 2, 2010

Ever since I started using VB.Net I have been using the Generic List collection List(Of <Type>). Arrays, I haven't used so much. I used them a lot more when I wrote C code years ago.

1.) Are arrays considered a type of collection like Lists, Dictionary, Queue etc are? Or are they in their own category.

2.) Can I iterate over an array with a For Each loop like I can with other collections or do I stick with the normal For loop for arrays?

3.) There are certain methods that return arrays. Can I set a list object to hold this return value instead of an array?

VB6 Used Recordsetsor Arrays - .Net Framework In VB2010. Datasets, Dataviews. Tableadapters, Arrays. Enums ?

May 9, 2010

In VB6 I load a recordset containg all of the records (6 fields per record)in a table into an XArray and then manipulate the records in the array and then write them back to the original table. The array issorted by the first field (1 to maybe 8000 or more) I need to find records in the array by an ID field and then move them (because of some external criteria that happens many times) from say number 400 to number 375. Then all of the other records between 375 and 399 were renumbered up 1 to fill the gaps left by the move.

The XArray worked well as it could find and also move to a next record easily to facilitate the revisions to each record quickly. Everything is done in VB6 in code and nothing visual needs to be shown to the user until say 2000 of these external changes are complete. What is the best, most efficient way to do this in the .Net framework in VB2010. Datasets, Dataviews. tableadapters, arrays. enums ?

Passing Arrays Through Fortran Dll From App Turning To Single Element Arrays?

I have a VB.net console app and I am opening a function in a dll written in fortran. I am passing 3 arrays through the function by reference. When they come back out the otherside they ahve all tunred to arrays of only one element And that element is 0.I read on the internet somewhere that when doing this kind of thing it is a good idea to only pass the first element of the array into the function.I tried changing my function declaration to accepting single elements rather than single dimensional arrays, and now the arrays are the same length before and after the function call, but they don't seem to be changing at all, so i'm not sure that this is working

Collection Index Must Be In The Range 1 To The Size Of The Collection?

Dec 17, 2009

I've been working with a CMS called InsiteCreations 2008. I'm running into an error I just can't wrap my head around. I would even be willing to compensate anyone a small amount over paypal, for a solution. The error is rare in occurance, and appears when clicking about 3-4% of links to other pages within our CMS.The full code page is quite large, but there seems to be only one function associated with the error. The error also only appears when not logged into the CMS. If logged into the CMS, clicking the link simply displays the page as normal. I have already checked permissions on the page from the CMS admin console, and it is public.

The error message is as follows:

Server Error in '/' Application.Collection index must be in the range 1 to the size of the collection.
Description:
An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

I need to convert a VB Collection to a modern one, like Dictionary or Hashtable. For my approach, I need the Collection's KEYS. Googling tells me that it's impossible. Re-writing the entire application using new collections is not an option as the application is really old and large (converted from VB6 to VB.Net).Using the old Collection also is not good - as there are new components in development.Converting a - for example - Hashtable to Collection works:

Populating A DataGridView On-the-fly?

Nov 16, 2009

I have a DataGridView which reads data from a custom (CSLA) list object. The dataset might have 100,000 records, and obviously I don't want to show them all at once because, for one, it would take ages to load.I think it would be nice if I could read the first (for instance) 20 records, and make it so upon scrolling to the end of the list, it reads the next 20 and adds them to the DataGridView.

I have experimented with various ways of doing this, mostly using a custom class inheriting from DataGridView to capture scroll events and raising an event which adds new records. I will include the code below:

Public Class TestDGV
Inherits DataGridView
Public Sub New()

[code]....

Though this (sort of) works, it can be buggy. The biggest problem was that if you used the mouse to scroll the DataGrid, it would get stuck in a loop as it process the scrollbar's ValueChanged event after the data was added. That's why I added ScrollbarOff and ScrollbarOn - I call them before and after getting new records, which disables the scrollbar temporarily.

The problem with that is that after the scrollbar is re-enabled, it doesn't keep track of the current mouse state, so if you hold down the 'Down' button with the mouse (or click on part of the scrollbar) it stops scrolling after it has added the new records, and you have to click it again.
