Dec 6, 2010I copied a project I wrote on my XP machine to my other computer with Windows 7 64-bit. When I run it through VS2008 it exits immediately. It does not run a single line of code. The exit code is 0. I need to post what else it says. But I did find a posting about this saying the path to the temp files may be wrong for it but he did not know how to change this. If I create a new peoject and put a command button on it, the program runs. So I was wondering if it is something like the temp files or something else. The machine runs a compiled .exe of the program from the XP machone when installed on the Windows 7 machine. So I do not think it is the program not being compatible.

Jul 18, 2009My typical application has a couple of textboxes, checkbuttons, radiobuttons, and so. I always want to load the settings the user used the last time when the program starts, and also want to save the settings as the users clicks "Save settings" or closes the application. When the user attempts to save the settings, I'll have to check each of the controls for input errors (sometimes they have to have a max length, other times only caps, other times other things, there isn't a rule for them all, everytime it'll be different), and only if everything OK i'll let him save the options. If there is something wrong, no option is saved and my error-control provider will pop up a description of the input type info that should be put in that control.
I've been designing this from scratch for all my projects, but it's being a pain to do it. So I'd thought maybe now was the time to do some library to help me. I thought initially that maybe it'd be a good idea to have all the controls on my form that are going to be part of this save/load process to have an attribute associated with them, something like this [Code]

VS 2008 - Launcher - Make A Routine Run When My Program Starts Without Showing Any Window
May 16, 2011I am currently working on a launcher, and it must consist of the following:
- one main routine being called, NO WINDOW may be created at any times after or before this main routine.
- one small form called by the main routine if a certain command was sent through the Command (shortcut).
At this point I use a Windows Form, but it seems a little useless to create and initialize a form if you won't even use it. Any way to make a routine run when my program starts without showing any window? But still make it possible to show that small dialog?
I did this at first but it seems a bit dangerous:

I know for sure that that did not happened before and I can not find out why this is happening now, or better to say: what did I do in code to make this happened? I have google-it and found out that csc.exe is some kind off on-the-fly compiler for C# (If I understand it correctly ) but my App is in VB.net so I am a bit confused. Can someone explain it to me in general what have I did in my VB.NET code to make my App on every start calls csc.exe?

Customactions Does Not Starts EXE After Install?
Feb 7, 2011the issue is that customactions class in my VB 2010 code, correctly configured, does not start the program after installation, neither sets the autorun, it seems that subroutine OnAfterInstall isn't invoked at all.
Note that process termination before installation (for upgrading purpose) eventually works.

Application - Send Info To The App When It Starts Up?

By that i mean taskkill.exe /f /im 123.exe.... how do i make my VB.NET app read that info on startup so i get it in a string like this "/f /im 123.exe".
