I have a usercontrol that has a main form and calls another form within the usercontrol to get some data from a database that allows the user to select some items from a CheckedListBox control on the sub form. I want to pass the selected items from the CheckedListBox back to the main form and display the results there. I have a public property called DBList of type List(of String) on the main user control. If I create a reference to the usercontrol form the second form within the usercontrol I get a new instance of a user control. All I want to do is set the property on the usercontrol and close the secondary form. How do I reference the usercontrol from the form within the usercontrol?

Have actually managed to create a UserControl complete with buttons, windows media player ... Right-Clicking in the toolbox I browsed to the dll and that brought the control into the toolbox successfully as VideoSourceControl.I can drag/drop this control onto the form and it is fine, buttons etc looking good. Well i have a usercontrol with a property "ClientScript" and in the aspx file where i use the usercontrol i set the value to [code]the problem here is that the is litterly passed to the property and not parsed first and replaced by the ClientID..I had the same clientscript applied to a buttons OnClientClick and there it worked...Must i apply some sort of attribute to the property to get this working? [code] i know that im saving to a local variable and that it will be cleared on reload and so on but thats not the problem here.

One of them should have a specific range of the value - it should only be possible to set the value of the property with a number from 1 to 255. 0 should not be possible, because some calculations are done in which is divided by this property's value. I thought I could use a Byte as type, but a Byte can contain 0 as well. I would like to be able to set a limit for the value of this property, and that an error is shown in the Designer when, in this case, 0 is entered. I mean an error window like you get when filling in 0 for the interval of a Timer. Is this possible with an UserControl as well?

In the book I am reading the writer shows code for adding the WordWrap property to a class which inherits System.Windows.Forms.UserControl. But what is the point? There is nowhere to insert strings! Also he shows how to add an event by embedding a Combo in an instance of the class and using its SelectedIndexChanged event to raise the event for the UserControl; again what is the point?

I'm trying to set up an installer to register a web site. Currently, I've got it creating an Application Pool and Web Site under Windows Server 2003. Unfortunately, whenever I try to modify the ServerBindings property to set the IP Address, it throws an exception at me. I first tried this because the documentation here told me to [URL]. View 1 RepliesI have been making a control and have added a property for a list(of CustomClass). The custom class contains a string, an image and a list of another custom class which contains a string and an image. I have added this property to the designer by adding the browsable attributes and all appears to work correctly with this.
My problem comes when running the program. I can set all of the values within the property and I can go back to them and they are saved, however, as soon as I run the program, the values are wiped out as the property is set to Nothing.In order to allow my property to be edited and saved, I realize that I must initialize the list and have done so in the accessor method of the property (if the property's value is nothing).
I have modified the values in the designer and placed a breakpoint on all of the items which use the property and it's underlying field, as well as on the property's methods itself. The first breakpoint hit is of it being accessed and the value is always nothing.
I'm not sure where the values are supposed to be stored as I have checked the designer code where it would normally store types such as strings and I have checked the resources to see if they have been saved there (like an image would be). After running the code, the values in the designer are wiped out also.

I'm trying to assign some parameters for a stored procedure with some values that are stored in a data table. in the code, I can set the parameter values to the data table, and give a column header or index without issue, but when it tries to execute at runtime it bombs out.the error I get is a variation on "Failed to Convert Parameter Value from a DataColumn to a String" depending on exactly how I try to assign the value.the data types are all correct elsewhere in the code.

other things I've tried to get this to work are all variations on the .Value=dates bit, such as
.Value=dates(0) (so using column index)
.Value=dates.columns(0) (again using column index)
I've also tried declaring variables, and setting their values to the values in the columns, but the code returns an error saying that "Value of type 'System.Data.DataColumn' cannot be converted to string".I should point out that i'm doing this for 3 tables at once in this sub, 2 of them will only have a single row of data, but the third has an indeterminate number of rows.I'm afraid I don't know what else to do. I'm lead to believe by my mate and my lecturer that this should work, and of course it will work, but the evidence says otherwise.
I am working on my media program which utilizes the amazon ecs web service. So far it does a search and pulls a list of image url's for the dvd covers.
Is what I want to do is take those image urls and somehow feed them into a datagridview, so that the user can scroll through the images and choose the right one.

I have a panel with 5 labels and 5 listviews in it. By default they are hidden. At runtime I want only the ones shown that are needed. For example, if there are enough players for three tables then three tables should show up. I know how to make the controls visible, but not sure how to control how many are actually displayed. I also think I may have to do seperate loops and seperate the control types?

I have created custom paper Size "XPaperSize 15 x 12" in Printers - File - Sever Properties. In VB .net 2005 I am trying to set custom Paper Size for Crystal Report. My problem is when I run report from Vb .net, Crystal report viewer showing correct preview for custom paper size but when I give print command it's print default printer paper size e.g. Letter size.

I want to programmatically set the focus to the last row (bottommost, its only one column wide) in the DataGridView control for Visual Basic. How can I do so?
So far, I have tried DGV.Rows.GetLastRow(DataGridViewElementStates.Selected)
without success, though I did not expect that to work. It absolutely must select that last cell. Otherwise, the application is nearly impossible to use!
