How set a width for an individual column in DataGridView? I make my datagridview fill. But the problem is The column index 1 is not fit on the datagridview. How can I set an assigned width so that I can managed the spaces.
I have a datagrid on my form that has a dataset bound to it via the datagrid properties Tables collection. I have the PreferredColumnWidth property of the datagrid set to 75. How can I change the column width in code to match my column header text?
I am having trouble in allowing the user to select the row in the datagridview.
I managed to include the checkbox column in the datagridview but i do not know how to wrte the code such that when the user wants to update or edit the data in the checked row, he just have to check the affected rows checkbox, can be one or many, and then click on ok button, which will then lead him to the data updater form, allowing him to update the data.
Currently i have the below code which can populate the checkboxclumn only.
I have a databound DataGridView, and I'd like to keep one column in front, with a slightly smaller width than the default. The grid's AutoSizeColumnsMode property is set to Fill so that the columns fill out the entire grid. This makes the first column equally large as all others, which is why I need to set its width manually. The smaller column is the first one with the checkboxes. I have two grids that I need to do this with, and for some reason it works just fine with the first grid, but gives a null reference error on the second grid...
Here's the code for the first grid (working fine): vb.net Public Sub UpdateTodoGrid() ' Load todo items todoGrid.DataSource = _TodoManager.LoadAll() ' Set backcolor For Each row As DataGridViewRow In todoGrid.Rows [Code] .....
As you can see, the code is exactly the same (except for not setting the BackColor of each row and not using the ReadOnly property*). When I run this code, it gives me a null reference error ("Object reference not set to an instance of an object.") on the line where I set the column's Width. Obviously 'col' is not Nothing (otherwise it would have errored before that line), and there's nothing else there that could be Nothing... I assume that something happens internally in the grid when you set the width of a column, and that there is a null reference there, but obviously I have no control over that.
The grid's are absolutely the same, as the second grid is just a 'copy' (meaning I copy/pasted it in the designer) of the first. So all their properties are equal. I thought maybe the ReadOnly properties were the problem, but I tried putting them in in the same way and the issue did not go away... The first grid is not ReadOnly (because the checkboxes need to be editable), but all rows except the first are, while the second grid is completely ReadOnly.
I'm using VB.Net 2008 application program. I'm using DataGridView. I have a Print option where I need to print the DataGridView. I'm using this code for Printing and for Print Preview.
Dim MyDataGridViewPrinter As DataGridViewPrinter Private Function SetupThePrinting() As Boolean Dim MyPrintDialog As PrintDialog = New PrintDialog() MyPrintDialog.AllowCurrentPage = False MyPrintDialog.AllowPrintToFile = False [Code] ..... Attached the class I'm using for print.
I have 10 fields showing in datagridview. As the last 5 columns header is long, the datagridview is not fitting inside 1 page (not showing all 10 fields in one single page). But is there a way i can "Text Wrap" the top header column and lock in the width, then it should print across one page perfectly. How I can "Text Wrap" the top header column and lock in the width to print across one page.
This Winforms app has a toolStripComboBox within a MenuStrip container that displays Culture Info languages. The toolStripComboBox's width is not expanding to accommodate the size of the string. The strings are dynamically added to the combobox from underlying code. How do I get the comboboxe's width to expand? Below is an image of the'too narrow' combobox and below that the Properties for the combobox.

VB GridView control will not allow code in the vb code file to access a data column that has its visible property set to false. When it is set to true, the data column can be accessed with no problem. Any suggestions as to how to correct this? I have looked through the documentation, text books, and I have not found anything that gave me any clue as to what the problem could be. I thought that the property was just applied to the column, not that it would remove the column from being accessible.
I've a data grid whose source is a data table. The columns in the data table are Serial No.,Item,Description I want the width of each column to be different, like ,the width of serial no. should be very small and that of Description to be lengthier. But, everything is of the same default width. How to adjust the width of each column in a Data Grid so that appearance could be improved?
I have data codes in the format abcd123, abcd345,... present in the table Info of database.I want to drop abcd from code and display remaining code in a combobox of datagridview.
Code:
Dim dsCodeList As New DataSet Dim dtCodeList As New DataTable
[code]....
It is giving error at first statement inside for loop saying Column Code Does not belong to Table Info.If i write simple query without use of right function and use dtCodeList.Rows(i).Item("Code").substring() to ignore first 5 characters, it works well.
1. when i pick a value from a combo in next col of data grid which also have a combo should populate conditionally.
2.when i edit the cell having combo previous selected value is overwritten by first value of combo it should be if i select any value from combo but should not over written default as i click the cell. (edit mode is on click)
3.by pressing enter key cursor should jump to next cell in same row . means navigation should horizontally but should jump to first cell of next row if cell is last cell
I've got a pretty big datagridview that I have to populate, and it's already (with not loads of data) taking quite a long time to populate. I can't imagine it's possible in my situation to bind the datagridview to the data I want to populate, but here is the situation.
I want the column headers along the top to be a bunch of users, which I have in one data table. I want the row headers along the side to be skill names, whihc I have in another data table, and the data in the middle is the score of each user for each skill in data table 3. Some users don't have a score, some do.
The way I have achieved this at present is to create the columns first using data table 1, then for each skill (data table 2), create an array of rows from data table 3 that match the skill, find the matching user (ColumnIndex) for each of these rows, and fill in the score.
I have searched the forums for an answer to this problem and while I have found simalar issuses, I have not found a solution that works for me. I have created a dataset and populated it. I know that this is true because I can view the information in the dataset in other ways such as using labels or textboxes. However to display the data in a organized and usable way I would like to display the information in a DataGridView control. I DO NOT need to be able to modify or add anything to the datagridview, JUST view the information there. I am not using any wizards to complete this and so I need to be able to complete everything programmaticly. I have written the code involved to the best of my understanding. When I run the application, there are no crashes or errors thrown, I just can't get the datagridview to populate. Below is the code that I am currently using:
I need to redraw a button in a button column in a DataGridView. Nothing to complicated other than I do not want the width to be as wide as the column width. To do so I am assuming that I have to create a custom button column object which inherits from the ButtonColum. Then I am assuming that I have to over-ride the Draw of the buttton itself.
how to adjust the width of the listview and also the datagridview to the width of the form.Because I want it to be able to follow the form's width and when maximized the form, the listview or the datagridview will also be maximized to the form's width.
Having an issue with my data gridview. I've set the visible property of the ID column to false, and in the designer the column is hidden, yet it still shows up when i run it. Now if i set it to True it shows the column twice.
I have a VB.NET (VS2010) Class Library project containing a control. It's exposed as a COM/ActiveX component so it can be embedded within HTML/Internet Explorer.
I have a Query that is in designe mode I have created 4 columns and formatting 4 columns also in datagrid view control now I want to use datasource of dgv control now when i defining datasource property with table then dgv control displaying my predefine columnas and adding 4 more columns in dgv for defining datasource.now presently to avoid autogenerating columns I definie the autogeneration column=false at this situation if i define datasource=table the no data is come up..so my query is it is possible to filled up data in predifned column using datasource property.
I am inheriting my own datagridview (say MyDataGridView) from the standard datagridview control. What I want is that certain properties of MyDataGridView should have a different default value than what its base have. For example, AllowUserToAddRows,
