I need to redraw a button in a button column in a DataGridView. Nothing to complicated other than I do not want the width to be as wide as the column width. To do so I am assuming that I have to create a custom button column object which inherits from the ButtonColum. Then I am assuming that I have to over-ride the Draw of the buttton itself.

CheckboxColumn1 is "Parent" and CheckboxColumn2 is "Child", they are related to each other. It's a requirement that the Parent has to have at least 1 Child meaning it can be One(P) is to Many© or One(P) is to One©. If the user didn't meet the said requirement, the system should not allow him to insert the selected records to the database. That's why I've decided to Disable the button unless the user checked the two checkboxcolumn. Meaning if the user only checked the checkbox/es in the Child column, the button will remain disabled, same concept with the Parent checkboxcolumn. The button that I'm talking about is what I call "Consolidate Button".

I tried this, but still not working. It does disable the button but in random clicks/checks meaning after 3 clicks in anycheckboxes the button will be disabled and be enabled again after how many clicks. Dont know what the problem is. Tried to debug but I dont get it.
I am trying to put an unbound button in the last column in a DataGridView control and it appears way, way off to the right when I run the app. I have to scroll all the way to the right to get to the buttons and then manually resize them to show up the way I want them to. I am using the Edit Columns feature found in the Smart Tag of the control. It works ok when I place them anywhere else in the columns! It only messes up when I try to place them at the end of the columns.

Now, I want the user to be able to not only select one list item, but to "drilldown" into the list that is behind the combobox, allowing him to edit (insert/delete/update) the list.
I think it would be a good idea to display a ".." button right behind the dropdown button of the combobox. Pushing it leads to a dialog where the list can be maintained.
What I am stumbling upon is:
How would I create such a custom combobox? Is ComboBox (which is the base for the combo box that the combo box column creates as its edit control) open enough to accommodate such an additional button? What would be the container of the tiny buttoon -- the ComboBox descendant? How I would make the grid create and handle such a custom combobox?
I currently try to solve this by subclassing DataGridViewComboBoxColum, using a DataGridViewComboBoxCell descendent in its CellTemplate assignment, and overriding PositionWEditingPanel and PositionEditingControl to manipulate the sizes of the panel and the combobox so I'd have space for the tiny button. Is that the correct way?
Or would I have to create a DataGridViewColumn descendant which creates a Panel containing a DataGridView combobox edit control and the tiny button? How would I make sure the column keeps care of the combo box so it has the correct items etc?

View 3 RepliesI have a databound DataGridView, and I'd like to keep one column in front, with a slightly smaller width than the default. The grid's AutoSizeColumnsMode property is set to Fill so that the columns fill out the entire grid. This makes the first column equally large as all others, which is why I need to set its width manually. The smaller column is the first one with the checkboxes. I have two grids that I need to do this with, and for some reason it works just fine with the first grid, but gives a null reference error on the second grid...

As you can see, the code is exactly the same (except for not setting the BackColor of each row and not using the ReadOnly property*). When I run this code, it gives me a null reference error ("Object reference not set to an instance of an object.") on the line where I set the column's Width. Obviously 'col' is not Nothing (otherwise it would have errored before that line), and there's nothing else there that could be Nothing... I assume that something happens internally in the grid when you set the width of a column, and that there is a null reference there, but obviously I have no control over that.
The grid's are absolutely the same, as the second grid is just a 'copy' (meaning I copy/pasted it in the designer) of the first. So all their properties are equal. I thought maybe the ReadOnly properties were the problem, but I tried putting them in in the same way and the issue did not go away... The first grid is not ReadOnly (because the checkboxes need to be editable), but all rows except the first are, while the second grid is completely ReadOnly.

But is there a way i can "Text Wrap" the top header column and lock in the width, then it should print across one page perfectly. How I can "Text Wrap" the top header column and lock in the width to print across one page.
Once I read the property for DataGridView Column which allows Grid Column to adjust as per the data width. I can not recall it or find it.

I'm developing a GUI for a touchscreen, so when user wants to scroll he/she uses their fingers. Now the thing is that the scrollbar width (with the vertical scrollbar) IS adjustable but the button stays the same height and isn't sufficient for a finger. So the question is : Are the buttons in the scrollbar allso adjustable in size/dimensions.

What I am trying to do is fill the contents of the datagridview with the cell contents. There are two ways to do this.
1) Either set the DGV width to the cell contents width, or
2) Autoadjust the width of the cells to the width of the DGV.

I uses datagridview for show query results from database which may have 0 to x number of rows. So I made calculation to calculate size of underlaying form and my datagridview dependable on number of matched rows. Underlying form is transparent and all of that looks like user control what appears and works just fine. But here is one issue: Every time datagrid have to grow, black square in that area is showed before datagrid is filled, what is not nice and surely unwanted. Did datagridview have some mechanism to freeze it and show data when populating is finished?

I have a DataGridView with a single column that currently displays a short list of items. When the user clicks a button to run an update, each row/cell is read and processing begins. I would like to have the selection idicator move down the rows in the DataGridView as it completes processing of each record. How can I display the iteration of the DataGridView rows while the processing is underway? A redraw of the DataGridView or something.This is a VB.net windows form, I know how to do this with AJAX I think, but how can I in a Windows form?

View 2 RepliesI have one form with one tabControl with two tabs, in each one I have one dgv, in the visible change event I create and add a new button column, that will be placed at the end. Now the "problem", if the first tab it's selected when the form becomes visible, the column it's placed in the correct position (last), and in the second tab the column it's placed in the third position.
If I do this with the second tab selected when the form become visible, the column it's placed correctly in this one, and in the third position in the first one... The code that I use, it's very simple, every datagrid it's bounded to a datatable, I tried the add method, then I tried the insert method, then I manually set the display index for each column, and none of this options solved my problem...
