Is there a way in VB or C# to connect with a cellular modem (on my laptop) from my home machine and have it send me responses if I know it's IP address? Can't seem to find one, so I thought I'd ask.....
View 1 RepliesI am attempting to call a remote modem using a local modem connected via USB. Programming language is VB.NET and I am using the SerialPort control to talk to the modem.
Communication is as follows:
I send: ATZ0[CR]
Modem responds: ATZ0[CR][CR][LF]OK[CR][LF]
I then try to dial a number:
I send: ATDTnnnnnnnnnn[CR] where nnnnnnnnnn is a valid number
The modem responds with:ATDTnnnnnnnnnn[CR][CR][LF]ERROR[CR][LF]
All other commands seem to work without any issues
For info the modem is a MultiTech MT5634ZBA-USB-V92
If I use hyperterminal and type the same commands in it works as expected and dials the number, so it must be something I am doing in my code, possible some setup in the SerialPort control

I already made some configurations to the SQL Server 2005 that I want to access by following the steps coming from this link -> [URL]. But somehow I am still getting an error. My primary concern is "What connection string should I use on my client VB.NET application to connect to the remote SQL Server?" Since I will be connecting to the SQL Server via Internet and not by LAN, I am wondering which IP Address and Port am i going to put on the 'connection string'? How can i get my 'TRUE' Ip address? 1. Can I include a database in an exe file? - I am trying to create a small launcher application which contain 10-20 IP addresses with name, addresses, phone and email for people I help out on a regular basis. I would prefer if I could have the DB containing this info included in my launcher app, so I could carry it around on a USB stick.
2. How do I get mstsc.exe (remote desktop) to launch with an IP address from my DB above?- In my small app I am trying to add a launch button for each person. So if I am helping "person1", then I click the button next to him, and it launches my remote desktop of PC Anywhere to his IP address....
My initial thought was to use an ini file with my exe file, and modify the ini file with data through the app, but I want to be sure that there is no way I can include this information in the exe file.As I want to be able to change the connection information through my app interface I reckon I am forced to use either a SQL DB or some sort of file DB right?

Our staff first VPN's into the office and then from there, they can use Remote Desktop to access their computers.I would like to obtain details about where employees are logging in from. I've seen the mention of using WMI, but would like to avoid this if possible. I have dabbled with the System.Diagnostics class but cannot seem to get it working when running on a server. It is able, when testing locally, to query my event log, but displays nothing when put on the final server. There is no error that is displayed after the program is ran.
I have a text file that needs to be uploaded to a ftp , however it needs to overwrite any existing file with that name.the filename will never change but data inside does, thats why we need to upload it to provide the most current data.filename = rawdata.txt..I have a basic form with a timer or button to send the file, I just need the code. I have created a program using FaxServer and FaxDocument. I want to know if there is a way to determine programically if the modem is busy? Busy in terms of it could be sending/receiving a fax or another program is using it. I just need to know if its in use.
