Can you create a string variable, that has 3 prespecified acceptable values?I need a variable that you can basically set it to one of three values and nothing else. Basically so you can't fat finger setting the variable in code.
I am working in vb.net 08.When i will work on the recordset then it will give the error:"Arguments are of the wrong type, are out of acceptable range, or are in conflict with one another."
I am using the below Imports System.Data Imports System.Data.OleDb Imports System.Windows.Forms Imports System.Windows.Forms.DataGridViewColumnCollection Imports System.IO
How can i monitor the HTTP data (headers including raw html data) that is sent and recieved while a user browses with a web browser control in my application?
is there some way to capture the connection itself into a socket?
I just want to display data in a DataGridView (from SQL - already made the connection) based on what is selected in a ComboBox (data that is also coming from SQL). The 2 are separete on the form. I am using VB 2010.
This doesn't work for me: objCommand2.CommandText = "SELECT ProductID, Name, Color, Size, ListPrice FROM SalesLT.Product WHERE ProductCategoryID = " & cbCategory.SelectedValue
I have a vb.net Windows application that calls a vb.net Web Service function. Both the vb.net application and Web Service have been in use for over 5 years and have worked well. The Windows App builds a text file consisting of a number of inserts into an Oracle table, followed by a call to an Oracle package. The Web Service call uploads the text file to the Web Server, loops through the statements in the text files and executes them. It then does a Select statement to put the resultant data in a string which is passed back to the calling program. We have both people on our local area network as well as external users where the call to the Web Server is over the internet.
The data string returned is the pricing for each of the lines inserted in the text file, separated by asterisks. Normal use of this call has anywhere from 1 to a few dozen lines, and the program works fine for this for both internal and external users.
Our problem right now is one external person is attempting to price a job with 491 individual line items. At first it would not price, whether the job was priced from a computer at the customers site or one of our internal people on the LAN. The problem turned out to be the timeout value was not long enough (it was set at 2 minutes, this job takes 5 minutes) so changing both the Timeout value in the Web Service call as well the httpRuntime executionTimeout value in the web.config file on the web server addressed the problem, but only for our internal users on the LAN. Our external customer wants to be able to price jobs of this size going forward, and I am at a loss as to why it errors on internet connected machines but not locally connected machines. Our customer is in New York, We are in Wisconsin, and I am able to recreate the error condition from my home computer.
The other thing is, if I create a VPN connection to our server from my computer at home, this job will price (again, it takes about 5 minutes) but if I disconnect the VPN connection, it gets an error after approximately 3 minutes, http 404: Not Found. The customer can otherwise price all of his other jobs with no problems, it's only this one, very large job that gets the error.
I have a task to create a web service to receive client-side app's http request(with rpc={json data} in the end), deserilize it and put he parameter in stored Procedure in order to retrive data from sql server. the procedure query and client-side's app are already there and the return data to client-side app is JSON too
Data binding should be an extremely simple thing to manage but I can't find a SIMPLE solution to the following problem.
I have two forms
Form1 contains a 4x4 MSFlexGrid (unfortunately an unmanaged COM object but I can merge cells, which I can't do with a managed Datagrid)
Form2 contains other controls which change the data in the Flexgrid.
I connect the two with a Public 4x4 array. Form2 changes the data in this array. I can update the grid data by reading the array. But how do I bind the Grid to the array so that it auto-updates - which is the whole point of binding isn't it?
I am reading data from a socket (as bytes) and storing this data in a string. Then later i need to access specific bytes within the string and do some math with them. However the bytes that I read back from the string are not what I am expecting.
I am working on some sort of client + project management system. Each client can have many projects, many projects can have many staff. The Link (Junction) table allows for many staff members to be linked to the projects. I have attached the relationships which have been put together in Access 2007. In order to display the data in my VB forms, I am making use of OleDb, by having a OleDbDataAdapter and DataSet. I am using SQL queries to select, insert etc data from the original database tables.
My issue; I can't work out the best way to link the data together so it can be viewed on one form. So once I access Client 1, I can see the projects they have with us, and then within that, all the staff they have working on that project.
When I tried to read the data of a http link using VB.net, an error occur. The error is:The remote server returned an error: (406) Not Acceptable. This error is only occur for some links.
How do I put a large amount of data (we are talking of a datatable with probably 50 columns and maybe 500 rows) from the access database that is bound to a datagridview in my program into textboxes depending on the row of the datagridview row I am clicking on.
What I have in the access database is countries and companies that are attached to several different dates to each company. these dates are supposed to be filled into the textboxes automatically when I click on the company row in the datagridview and also when i fill in a date in the textboxes it is to be written to the access database when I save the update.
I have used the below load code to fill my datagridview. Is there another way or can I use this?
Private Sub MainForm_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Me.TCOMHRVT2TableAdapter.Fill(Me.TCOMHRVT2DataSet.TCOMHRVT2) End Sub
How do I link data in an Excel spreadsheet to a chart object in Visual Basic 2010? Really basic here, I just want to draw a single simple line chart from a single column of data. Is it easier just to read the data into an array (which I can do) and somehow get it into the chart?
I'm not sure if it can even be done, or if this is the proper place to post this question. I'm hoping that someone could give me a start in the right direction.I am looking for a way to link an Excel Spreadsheet to Microsoft Visio. I am envisioning this as an add in developed for Visio. To Summarize I would like to be able to list the steps of a process in Excel, and import the excel sheet into Visio. Finally I would like Visio to generate a flow chart based off of this imported data.I have developed a more detailed flowchart as to how I think this should work as well as a sample Excel sheet. The files are in a zip file which I would be more than glad to send to anyone who may be able to shed some light on the subject.
I am trying to write the code needed to link two tables together. One table is a list box and the other table is a data grid view. What would the example of the code needed in order to link these tables together so that each time you click on an item in the list box, the data grid would then show the corresponding information that matches up with the selected item.

I have a gridview and a LinkButton which is not in the gridView. What I need to to is, when the user clicks the LinkButton AddNewRecord, the gridview allows the user to enter the new data. I know this is possible (and easier) using FormView, but I need to to using the GridView. Does anyone know if this is possible, and, if so, how I can do it?
How Do I update a data source link of an excel File from VB.net?I need to update data source links when saving an excel file. All of this through vb.net app
