I am trying to develop a tool to add users to the appropriate AD security group for their department (so that they have the right access to their network folders)I have a list of departments (e.g. A1, A2, A3, B4, Sec, DirGen) and there are 3 AD groups per department. One for Managers, one for secretaries and one for normal users. Each group grants different levels of access on the network folders.
So, I'm trying to decide the best method of presenting this data to the user (and, in turn, storing it in my application).At the moment, I have a Combobox for the department (with a fixed list of items) and a combobox for the user type (e.g. Manager, Secretary, User). The idea is when they click on a site all the details for the site are loaded and then a second thread sits and pings each device to see if its live. Im trying to do this in a seperate thread so if they click another site while its still pinging them it doesn't wait before it switches site. This all seems to be workling fine except if you click through the sites quickly, when you do that it will eventually come up with

When I tried to read the data of a http link using VB.net, an error occur. The error is:
The remote server returned an error: (406) Not Acceptable.
This error is only occur for some links.
When i publish my program i choose to let the application check for updates via a website and if their is one update automatically when the program starts. Is their a way were on the main user form i can make it so that the user can change the update site with out me building the program again with the new site. I want to do this becuase the site i use goes down alot so when i changed the update url no one was able to download the update for the new update server.

The app works fine in every detail when installed on the development computer. But, on the target computer when the command button is clicked an unhandled exception occurs which says: System.IO. I'm being asked to maintain several internal-only web apps for my company. For testing, after making my changes, I've created some staging sites which make use of separate databases. As such, if my users were to mistakenly use this site as if it were the production site, they may enter important data and wonder where it "disappeared" to thinking it was the production server.
I'd like to create a big banner of some sort across the top of the staging site (which ONLY appears on the staging site) to remind my users that they are on the test site. I'd like recommendations on the best way to do this, with the following considerations:

Let's assume you have 3 letters (A, B, C), and have a limit length of 3, then it should display this list:
A
B
C
AA

Now, this would be fine with recursive calls I think, but I find it really difficult to think how to code that and how the computer will execute the code. It would be easier if all possibilities had a length of 3, but here that isn't the case.

I have a class that uses a BackGroundWorker to download a single file using HttpWebRequest and HttpWebResponse
Downloading single file works.
But if I make two objects of that class and start downloading 2 different files simultaneously, there is nothing produced. Execution exits after getResponse() without any error or exception.
Is there any way to achieve simultaneous file download?
I am trying to achieve the look of the attached image using string.Format and PadLeft/PadRight but I have no success with it, anyone who could offer some help?
EDIT:The font I used is not mono-spaced and I am not inclined to use a mono-spaced font for this.
